Crane High School (Chicago)

Chicago Bulls College Prep (CBCP) is a public four-year charter high school located on the Near West Side of Chicago, Illinois. It is a part of the Noble Network of Charter Schools. It is named after the Chicago Bulls basketball team, which endowed the school.Chicago Bulls College Prep is a level 1+ school, based on CPS rankings.The building was formerly known as McKinley High School - one notable attendee in 1917 was Walt Disney.The school opened in August 2009.

Western Avenue is a street within the city of Chicago. Western Avenue extends south as a continuous road to the Dixie Highway at Sibley Boulevard (Illinois Route 83) in Dixmoor, giving the road a total length of 27.38 miles (44.06 km). Western Avenue, after turning into Asbury Ave, runs out on the north side at Green Bay Road in Evanston and on the south side at Crete-Monee Road in Crete. However, Western Avenue extends intermittently through the Southland to the Will/Kankakee county border in unincorporated Will Township. Within Chicago's grid street system, Western Avenue is 2400 West, three miles west of State Street (0 East/West). Western Avenue becomes Asbury Avenue at Howard Street at the Chicago/Evanston border and continues north to Isabella Street on the Evanston/Wilmette border. Unlike Pulaski Road, which was originally Crawford Avenue in both the city and suburbs, Western was always the name in the city. Asbury is only used in Evanston. In the suburbs, Western Avenue constitutes the boundary between several of Cook County's southern townships. North of 135th Street, Worth Township is on the west and Calumet Township is on the east; from 135th to 183rd Streets, Bremen Township is on the west and Thornton Township is on the east; and south of 183rd Street, Rich Township is on the west and Bloom Township is on the east.

Western is a station on the 'L' system, serving the Blue Line's Forest Park branch. It is located in the median of the Eisenhower Expressway. It serves the Near West Side neighborhood and Crane Tech High School. The station is also located about 1 mile (1.6 km) north of the Western Avenue (Metra BNSF Railway Line) commuter railroad station.

McKinley High School is a former Chicago public school. It opened in 1875 as West Division High School, was renamed in honor of President McKinley in 1904, and closed in 1954. Since 2009, the building has been the site of Chicago Bulls College Prep.

Rockwell Gardens was a Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) public housing project located in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the Near West Side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. It was the first public housing development in the United States to be constructed using both federal and state funds. The original structures were designed by Nicol & Nicol and covered 17 acres (6.9 ha). 1,126 units were built, located approximately 2.5 miles (4.0 km) west of the Chicago Loop, bordered by Madison Street, Van Buren Street, Western Avenue, and Rockwell Street.

The Ruth M. Rothstein CORE Center is a medical facility in the Illinois Medical District, located at 2020 West Harrison Street in Chicago. It was founded by the Cook County Bureau of Health Services, and cares for people with diseases such as HIV/AIDS. In its mission statement, it explains its goals as: to provide the highest quality care for persons and families affected by infectious diseases, with respect, dignity and compassion, without regard to the ability to pay; to ensure a patient-centered and consumer-guided environment; and to seek to better understand and to prevent these diseases through education and research.

Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, originally named the Third Church of Christ, Scientist, is a landmark church located on West Washington Boulevard in Chicago, Illinois, United States. The church was designed by architect Hugh M.G. Garden and was built in 1901. The church was sold to its current owners in 1947. It was designated a Chicago Landmark on February 16, 1989, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

The Tri-Taylor Historic District is a historic district in the Near West Side neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The district is primarily residential and includes over 400 buildings. Most of the district's buildings are rowhouses, and almost all are from the late 19th century; their designs are notable for the frequent use of applied decorative elements uncommon elsewhere in Chicago. The district developed in the wake of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 and was mainly the home to middle-class residents relocating from immigrant neighborhoods. While the district's residents were mainly Western European, particularly German and Irish, in its first decades, the area became predominantly Italian around 1900 and remained so until it entered a decline in the 1940s and 1950s.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 3, 1983.

The COVID-19 Memorial Monument of Honor, Remembrance & Resilience is a public memorial under construction in the Illinois Medical District of Chicago, Illinois. The monument consists of five illuminated stainless steel sculptures designed to commemorate the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and honor healthcare workers and frontline workers who responded to the crisis. The monument is scheduled for completion in late 2025.

Malcolm X College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, is a two-year college located on the Near West Side of Chicago, Illinois. It was founded as Crane Junior College in 1911 and was the first of the City Colleges. Crane ceased operations at the beginning of the Great Depression and was reopened in as Theodore Herzl Junior College, located in the North Lawndale neighborhood on Chicago's West Side in 1934. Needing a new campus in the late 1960s, Herzel's building was changed into an elementary school. In 1969, the school was named in honor of civil rights advocate and orator Malcolm X on its move to a new campus in the Near West Side. Malcolm X College works with healthcare and industry partners to provide students with career-oriented education in the healthcare field. The school's main corporate partner is Rush University Medical Center, which helps the school write curriculum, teach, and place students in jobs. The school also has 18 other healthcare and industry partners, including Walgreens and GE Healthcare.

Greater Union Baptist Church is a historic church located in Chicago's Near West Side. Built in 1886 and designed by the father of the skyscraper, William Le Baron Jenney, in the Richardsonian Romanesque style, the building originally housed the Church of the Redeemer, a Universalist congregation.
