Piast Brewery is a defunct brewery, located in Wrocław, Poland. It was founded in 1872, when the city of Wrocław, known as Breslau, belonged to the German Empire. The brewery was founded by Carl Scholtz, and until 1910, its name was Brauerei Pfeifferhof Carl Scholtz. By 1945, the enterprise changed names three times: Schultheiss`Brauerei AG, Abt. V (ZBv.Berlin) (1910–1920), Schultheiss- Patzenhofer- Brauerei AG, Abt. V (1920–1938), Schultheiss- Brauerei AG Berlin, Abt. Breslau (1938–1945).In 1945, when Breslau was annexed by Poland, the brewery took on the name Piast Brewery, honoring the Piast dynasty, the legendary first Polish historical Royal dynasty that ruled the country from its beginnings until 1370. The name was not changed till 2005. Right after World War II, the production process was run by Polish brewmasters from the brewery of Lwów, who had been ordered to leave their native city and move to the Recovered Territories. In 1951, Piast Brewery produced 350 000 hectolitres of beer and 9 000 tons of malt annually. In 1991, the brewery became part of Wrocław's company Zakłady Piwowarskie S.A., and on January 23, 1996, it was purchased for $9 500 000 by Ryszard Varisella. In November 2001, it was bought by Carlsberg Polska, and in 2004, brewing of beer was terminated.

Krzyżanowice [kʂɨʐanɔˈvit͡sɛ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Wisznia Mała, within Trzebnica County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland. Prior to 1945 it was in Germany.

The Botanical Garden of the University of Wrocław is a botanical garden in Wrocław founded in 1811 in the area of Ostrów Tumski. The garden was established for medical students at the local university. During the Napoleonic Wars, the garden was damaged after the city fortifications were destroyed. Part of the garden featured a branch off the Odra river and was filled in during the conflict, but has since been restored as a large lily pond. It is the second oldest garden of this type in Poland, after the garden in Kraków. In 1974 it was listed as a protected monument in Lower Silesia, since 1994 it was included in the protected historical city center.

Ostrów Tumski (Polish pronunciation: [ˈɔstruf ˈtumski], lit. 'Cathedral Island', German: Dominsel) is the oldest part of the city of Wrocław in south-western Poland. It was formerly an island (ostrów in Old Polish language) between branches of the Oder River.

The Archdiocese of Wrocław (Polish: Archidiecezja wrocławska; German: Erzbistum Breslau; Czech: Arcidiecéze vratislavská; Latin: Archidioecesis Vratislaviensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or archdiocese of the Catholic Church centered in the city of Wrocław in Poland. From its founding as a bishopric in 1000 until 1821, it was under the Archbishopric of Gniezno in Greater Poland. From 1821 to 1930 it was subjected directly to the Apostolic See. Between 1821 and 1972 it was officially known as (Arch)Diocese of Breslau.

The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Wrocław (Polish: Archikatedra św. Jana Chrzciciela, German: Breslauer Dom, Kathedrale St. Johannes des Täufers) is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Wrocław and a landmark of the city of Wrocław in Poland. The cathedral, located in the Ostrów Tumski district, is a Gothic church with Neo-Gothic additions. The current standing cathedral is the fourth church to have been built on the site. Along with the Old Town of Wrocław, it is designated a Historic Monument of Poland.

Collegiate Church of the Holy Cross and St. Bartholomew (Polish: Kolegiata Świętego Krzyża i św. Bartłomieja) in Wrocław, Poland, is a two-storey brick Gothic collegiate church on the Ostrów Tumski (Cathedral Island), considered the second most important Roman Catholic church in Wrocław. It is one the historic burial sites of Polish monarchs. Along with the Old Town of Wrocław, it is listed as a Historic Monument of Poland.

Plac Grunwaldzki (Grunwald Square, named for the Battle of Grunwald) is a former square, currently a major street and important transit point in Wrocław, Poland. The nearby universities (Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences, some departments of University of Wrocław) and their dormitories make it one of the centres of student life in Wrocław. The central portion of Plac Grunwaldzki has been redeveloped in 2006-2007 into a large oval-shaped roundabout with a major public transport hub in its centre.

Tumski Bridge (Polish: Most Tumski) is a steel bridge over the north branch of the Oder river in Wrocław, Poland. Constructed in 1889 it replaced an old wooden bridge to connect Ostrów Tumski and Wyspa Piaskowa. Until 1945, its name was Dombrücke. It is an old road bridge now open to pedestrians only. Tumski Bridge is also called Lovers Bridge, Cathedral Bridge or Green Bridge. It's a place of enamoured tradition for lovers. The bridge is full of love locks which lovers leave to cherish their feelings. An important part of the ceremony is to throw the key into the Odra river. In 1992 it was comprehensively renovated. During the renovation the original deck covering of Zores sections was replaced by an orthotropic deck.

The Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences (former Agricultural University and Agricultural Academy in Wrocław) is a state university established as an independent university in 1951. UPWr is one of the best specialist universities in Poland. It conducts training and research in the field of food, environmental and veterinary sciences. In the Perspektywy ranking – the most prestigious and comprehensive ranking of universities in Poland – in 2020 UPWr was placed second in the group of natural and agricultural universities and the 25th among all universities in the country. In addition, two degree programmes – geodesy and cartography and food science – have been voted the best in the country. For several years, the university has been listed in the international Shanghai Ranking among the best universities in the world in the fields of: Food Science & Technology, Veterinary Science and Chemical Engineering.

The Church of St. Mary on the Sand (Polish: Kościół Najświętszej Marii Panny na Piasku, German: Kirche Unserer lieben Frau auf dem Sande, Sandkirche) is a Catholic church in Wrocław, in Silesia, located on a small island in the Oder River, in the heart of the city. Founded in the 12th century, it is one of the oldest Gothic churches in the country.
