Maple GO Station

Maple is a neighbourhood in Vaughan, York Region, Ontario, Canada. It is located northwest of Toronto. Maple was founded as the village of Maple, located at the intersection of Major Mackenzie Drive and Keele Street.

St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School (also referred to as SJA) is a high school in Maple, Ontario, Canada, located in the city of Vaughan. It is administered by the York Catholic District School Board. Its student population is primarily composed of residents of Maple and other parts of northeastern Vaughan.

The Keele Valley landfill was the largest landfill in Canada and the third largest in North America during its operation. It was the primary landfill site for the City of Toronto and the regional municipalities of York and Durham from 1983 until 2002, and was owned and operated by the City of Toronto. It was located at the intersection of Keele Street and McNaughton Road in Maple, a community in the northeastern part of the City of Vaughan in Ontario. In 1985, the initial portion of a landfill gas collection system was installed to reduce emissions and associated odours emanating into the nearby community. This has been used to generate electricity, which it has continued to do since the landfill's closing, sufficient to power 20,000 homes. The facility is registered in the National Pollutant Release Inventory, with site identification number 7371. The site emitted about 410 kilotonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent greenhouse gases in 2011.In 2002, the site was identified by the Government of Ontario as an Area of High Aquifer Vulnerability, which would prohibit waste disposal and organic soil conditioning facilities being built or operating there per the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan. Vaughan's Official Plan Amendment 604 (OPA 604) specified that the site would be redeveloped as an open public space.

Rutherford GO Station is a train and bus station in the GO Transit network located in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada. It is a stop on the Barrie line train service. This station was opened in January 2001 to accommodate the growing ridership on the line. It is currently going through a redevelopment project which is expected to be completed in 2023.

Maple Airport was a small airfield in the Township of Vaughan (now a city) in York Region, Ontario, Canada that was open from 1955 until 1987. The airport, established by Marion Alice Orr, one of Canada's first women pilots, consisted of two runways in an X pattern; 3,700 feet (1,100 m) and 2,500 feet (760 m). The early runway were grass strip and paved over in 1960. At one point, the Maple Airport was the third-busiest private commercial and civilian airport in Canada not to have a control tower. The urbanization of Vaughan and the Maple area led to the closure of the airport in 1987. Nothing remains of the airport today, which is now the site of a housing development and Le Petite Prince Catholic Elementary School. A small park in the neighbourhood, on Avro Road, was named Maple Airport Park in honour of the former airport.

Vaughan Azzurri is a Canadian semi-professional soccer team based in Vaughan, Ontario, that currently competes in the League1 Ontario men's and women's divisions. The semi-professional team was founded in 2014 by the Vaughan Soccer Club, which is a youth soccer club as part of their High Performance Program.

Vaughan ( vawn) (2021 population 323,103) is a city in Ontario, Canada. It is located in the Regional Municipality of York, just north of Toronto. Vaughan was the fastest-growing municipality in Canada between 1996 and 2006 with its population increasing by 80.2% during this time period and having nearly doubled in population since 1991. It is the fifth-largest city in the Greater Toronto Area, and the 17th-largest city in Canada.

Hope is the northernmost community in the city of Vaughan, in Ontario, Canada. The community is mostly rural, with farms scattered along the major thoroughfare. The heart of the settlement is at Keele Street and Kirby Road, with its eastern side stretching as far as Bathurst Street. South of Hope are the communities of Teston and Maple. Recently, due to Vaughan's strong growth, its urban sprawl has had an effect on Hope, and its neighbouring communities as well. In the future urban plan for Maple, the North Maple Park is planned to meet the current heart of the community. Metrolinx has approved for a Kirby GO Station along the Barrie line to be built. A large residential area is also planned.

Reptilia is a collection of Canada's largest indoor reptile zoos, with a combined area of over 84,000 sq ft (7,800 m2) of indoor exhibits featuring over 250 reptiles, amphibians and arachnids.Currently there are three Ontario locations, one in Vaughan, one in Whitby, and one in London.

Maple High School (MHS) is a high school in Maple, Ontario, Canada. The current principal of Maple High School is Patrick McQuade. In 2017, it became an International Baccalaureate World School along with Milliken Mills High School, Dr. G.W. Williams Secondary School and Alexander Mackenzie High School.

Kirby GO Station is a planned GO Transit train station to be built by Metrolinx on Kirby Road in Vaughan, Ontario, as part of GO Transit's Regional Express Rail (RER) expansion program. Approximately 1000 parking spaces will be provided on the east side of the station. A bus loop and a kiss and ride area will also be provided.Although a station in the area had previously been supported by local politicians, it wasn't until 2015 that Metrolinx proposed it, as part of a larger list of possible future station sites. The station was ultimately included on the list of stations to be built in the RER program. In March 2018, a Metrolinx report found that the station would save them C$437 million, with introduction of express service expected to reduce the impact on riders north of Kirby.In December 2018, an Auditor General's report found that Metrolinx improperly approved the station under political pressure from then-Minister of Transportation Steven Del Duca and recommended that the MTO conduct an independent review of the station. The report found that the station would cause ridership loss of 57,000 people in 2031. Because of this, the timing of the station's construction and opening is uncertain.

Teston is a suburban neighbourhood and former hamlet located at the intersection of Teston Road and Jane Street, in the City of Vaughan, Ontario, at the northern edge of the city's developed area. The Teston United Church and some homes of early settlers are still standing to this day, but the rapid development of Vaughan has impacted the area in recent years. In early 2005, the Teston United Church was unsuccessfully relocated, meaning that lifting and flotation to an alternate site could not be accomplished. Parts of the church were distributed before it was completely demolished. The only visible remnants of the hamlet today run from Kleinberg to Keele Street, and continue east of Maple, eventually becoming Elgin Mills Road at Bathurst Street. In 2010, a major archeological discovery was made on the south side of the road, as road crews discovered an aboriginal burial ground just east of Jane Street.
