The Basha Kill Wildlife Management Area (also known as the Bashakill Wildlife Management Area) is a 2,213-acre (8.96 km2) conservation area consisting of wetlands and uplands along the Basher Kill in Sullivan County, New York.The primary purposes of Bashakill Wildlife Management Area (WMA) are for wildlife management, wildlife habitat management, and wildlife-dependent recreation. This 3,107-acre WMA contains the largest freshwater wetland in southeastern New York, and is a state designated Bird Conservation Area. Its 1,920-acre wetland is a birdwatcher's dream, drawing birders during the spring warbler migration and spring and fall waterfowl migrations due to the influx of interesting birds. Both bald eagles and osprey are commonly seen from the many easy access points. The forested uplands that surround the wetland provide a peaceful setting where one can enjoy a quiet walk in the woods. There is a substantial chestnut oak forest as well as ponds, fields, marshes, and swamps.

The Federal Correctional Institution, Otisville (FCI Otisville) is a medium-security United States federal prison for male inmates located near Otisville, New York. It is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), a division of the United States Department of Justice. It also includes a satellite prison camp for minimum-security male offenders. It is known for its relatively high number of Jewish inmates.

Westbrookville is a hamlet in the town of Deerpark in Orange County, New York, United States, along US 209. Westbrookville was named for Dirck Van Keuren Westbrook, an early settler. Fort Westbrook, dating back to the American Revolution, is extant. The 1900–1940 US Census lists it as part of Mamakating in Sullivan County. Situated between Port Jervis and Wurtsboro, it is close to the borders of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Westbrookville is located within the Port Jervis City School District. It contains many small businesses and Westbrookville Cemetery. The hamlet once housed the J. E. Ashworth & Sons blanket mill.According to the Census Bureau, New York's center of population is located three miles away from Westbrookville in the hamlet to its south, Cuddebackville.

Wurtsboro is a village located on U.S. Route 209 in the town of Mamakating in Sullivan County, New York, United States, near its junction with New York State Route 17 (which is being upgraded to interstate standards and will be renumbered as interstate 86). The population was 1,124 at the 2020 census. Since 1927 the area has been served by Wurtsboro-Sullivan County Airport.

Otisville Correctional Facility is a medium-security state prison located in Orange County, New York, United States. It is located adjacent to the federal system prison (Federal Correctional Institution, Otisville), but each facility operates separately from the other and they are otherwise unrelated. Both are in the Town of Mount Hope. The site was used as a tuberculosis sanitarium (1906–1955), a Division of Youth facility (Otisville Training Facility, up to 1972), and briefly a drug treatment center, before it became a state prison. A sawmill for lumber and maple syrup production were soon introduced for prisoner work. Due to the length of the prison fence and rough terrain, exterior guards are mounted on horses.

The Masten-Quinn House is located on First Street in the village of Wurtsboro, New York, United States. It is a wooden Greek Revival house built in two phases in the 1820s, the center of a farm that remained working until the mid-20th century. Today it is one of the few remainders from the area's agricultural past as a canal town. Lawrence Masten, its builder and first owner, was able to take advantage of the nearby Delaware and Hudson Canal being routed through his property. In 2003 the house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the first and only property in the village so far listed.

Wurtsboro Hills is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in the town of Mamakating in Sullivan County, New York, United States. The hamlet is located along old NY 17, west of the Village of Wurtsboro. The telephone exchange is primarily 888 and along with 647 in Area Code 845. The hamlet consists of over 100 bungalows, primarily constructed from the 1920s to the 1960s.

Mamakating is a town in the southeastern section of Sullivan County, New York, United States. The population was 12,655 at the 2020 census.

WZAD (97.3 FM The Wolf) is country music radio station licensed to Wurtsboro, New York that serves the Catskill Mountains region, Orange County, New York, and Pike County, Pennsylvania. The station is owned by Townsquare Media and broadcasts with 620 watts ERP from a tower between Wurtsboro and Monticello. Its studios are in Poughkeepsie, New York. WZAD's programming was a simulcast of sister station 94.3 WKXP Kingston, an arrangement that began in March 2006 and ended in February 2020. Prior to this, WZAD had simulcast the programming of another sister station, 97.7 WCZX Hyde Park. Since January 3, 2020, sister station, NOW 97.7 WCZX out of (Hyde Park) has been simulcasting WZAD's programming.

The Dodge-Greenleaf House is on NY 211 in Otisville, New York, United States. It was built circa 1855 in the Gothic Revival style. The architect is unknown but it exemplifies contemporary trends in home design popularized by the writings and pattern books of Andrew Jackson Downing of nearby Newburgh, as articulated in the Picturesque mode. Since its construction it has remained a private home. At one point it was owned by the Erie Railroad, used as worker housing while it was building the Otisville Tunnel beneath the property. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 5, 2008, the first in Otisville to be so listed.

The Otisville Tunnel is the longest tunnel on New York's Metro-North commuter railroad, at 5,314 feet (1,620 m) in length. Although the track curves at the western opening, underground the tunnel is a straight line, allowing the observer to see all the way through. It is currently owned by Metro-North, having been sold by the Norfolk Southern Railway in 2003.
