West Main Street Historic District (Oconto, Wisconsin)

First Church of Christ, Scientist, also known as First Christian Science Church Edifice, is a church building located in Oconto, Wisconsin. Built in 1886 of stone, weatherboard and brick in the Gothic Revival style, it was the first purpose-built Christian Science church edifice in the world. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

The Oconto County Courthouse is a county courthouse in Oconto, Wisconsin, United States. It houses the circuit court and government offices of Oconto County, Wisconsin. The courthouse was built in 1891, with major alterations in 1907 and 1963. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 and the state register of historic places in 1989 for its local architectural significance.

St. Peter's and St. Joseph's Catholic Churches are two historic Catholic churches in Oconto, Wisconsin, United States, both built in the 1890s. On November 10, 1980, they were added together to the National Register of Historic Places. Oconto has a long history of French involvement, going back to the Jesuit missionary Allouez and fur-trading days. In 1857 the Catholic church established its first parish in Oconto, St Peter's, building a small wooden church. Initially the congregation was heavily French-American, and the French language was used in services. But there were also non-French Catholics. Over time their numbers grew and they weren't satisfied with the French dominance at St Peter's. In 1869 100 families split off under Father Mathias Schwebach and formed St. Joseph's parish. Most of these families had German, Dutch or Irish roots. To hold the more diverse congregation together, services rotated between English, Dutch, German and Bohemian. Like St. Peter's, St. Joseph's initially built a small wooden church building. But the parishes grew. In 1895 St. Joseph's replaced the wooden building with the brick church that stands today. Carlos Buck of Green Bay designed the new building in High Victorian Gothic style. From the rough stone foundation rise cream brick walls highlighted with red brick trim. Brick buttresses brace the walls. The main entrances on the front are three double doors. Above the central door is a stout tower braced by trompe-l'œil flying buttresses. The tower rises to a pyramidal spire with four smaller spires on the corners. The large central spire is topped with a cross. Behind the tower, an octagonal roof lantern perches where the gables cross. Inside, the ceiling is decorated with ornamental plaster work. When the church was built, various national groups donated stained glass windows depicting their favored saints. In 1899, four years after St. Joseph's built, St. Peter's replaced their wooden church with a brick one. This one was designed by Henry Foeller of Green Bay, done in Romanesque Revival style. Typical of that style, the foundation is rusticated stone and the arches are round-topped. It is all in red brick, with arcades and emphasis on the vertical. Above the one main front entrance is a tall central tower, with a conical spire topped with a cross. The apse at the back of the building is lit by oculi windows.

Oconto is a city and county seat of Oconto County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 4,609 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Green Bay metropolitan area. The city is located partially within the town of Oconto.

St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Guild Hall and Vicarage is a historic Episcopal church complex in Oconto, Wisconsin, with its buildings in architectural styles popular when they were constructed. The complex was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 1, 1985, for its architectural significance. St. Mark's church is a Neogothic-styled building designed by A.H. James of Kansas City and built in 1900. It has walls of limestone with low buttresses on the south side. The front gable end features an apsidiole at the center at ground level, with a rose window above that and above that on the ridge a stone cross. The main entrance is through a large square corner tower. Inside, the church has a hammerbeam ceiling. The interior was redecorated in 1911, with a maple reredos, a high altar, carved lectern, pulpit and pews. A wood screen was also added, topped with a depiction of the Crucifixion carved by the Lang family of Oberammergau. The frame "Guild Hall" north of the current church building was built in 1866-67 across the street by the first Methodist congregation in Oconto. Typical of that period, its style is Greek Revival, with returned cornices and tall windows. In 1894 St. Mark's bought the building and moved it to their site to replace their original building. Only six years later, St. Mark's had outgrown it and built their current church, eventually converting the old church to a social hall. At this point, St. Mark's Guild Hall is the oldest surviving church building in Oconto. What is now called the vicarage, north of the guild hall, was built in 1871 by lumberman Edward Fizgerald as his home. Over the years the house was expanded, including bay windows by later owner Edward Davis, a clothes merchant. St. Mark's acquired the building in 1913. Today the building is an interesting combination, with the half-turret bay window and siding suggesting Queen Anne style, but the jerkin gables and fine spindles on the porch suggesting other styles.

Oconto High School is a public high school in Oconto, Wisconsin, USA. Enrollment is approximately 394 students. The present school building was constructed in 1969. The school mascot is the Blue Devil and the school colors are blue and gold. The principal of Oconto High School is Katie Stanczak.

The Huff Jones House is located in Oconto, Wisconsin. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 and on the State Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Douglas Bake Municipal Airport (KOCQ) (ICAO: KOCQ, FAA LID: OCQ) is a public use airport located two nautical miles (4 km) southwest of the central business district of Oconto, a city in Oconto County, Wisconsin, United States. It is owned by Oconto City and County. It is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2025–2029, in which it is categorized as a local general aviation facility. Although many U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, this facility is assigned OCQ by the FAA but has no designation from the IATA.

Located in northeastern Wisconsin, the Oconto River is a tributary of Lake Michigan via Green Bay. The Oconto River is 56.9 miles (91.6 km) long, stretching from the confluence of its North and South branches at Suring, Wisconsin, to Green Bay at the city of Oconto. Its drainage basin covers 2,416 square miles (6,260 km2), encompassing most of Oconto County as well as portions of Shawano, Marinette, Menominee, Langlade, and Forest counties.
