Manohar International Airport (IATA: GOX, ICAO: VOGA), is an international airport at Mopa in Pernem Taluka, North Goa district in the state of Goa, India. It serves North Goa and the adjoining districts of Karnataka and Maharashtra, and as a second airport of Goa after Dabolim Airport in Dabolim. The airport is developed by GMR Goa International Airport Limited (GGIAL), a special purpose vehicle (SPV). It is built at a cost of ₹3,000 crore (equivalent to ₹32 billion or US$400 million in 2023). The airport is built under the Build Operate Transfer (BOT) model in four phases, with the first phase costing a total of ₹1,500 crore (equivalent to ₹16 billion or US$200 million in 2023). It is named after the former Minister of Defence and the former Chief Minister of Goa, Manohar Parrikar.It was expected to be completed by the financial year 2019–2020, but was delayed due to a Supreme Court order that impeded work on site, and also due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which caused lockdowns, restrictions, and curfews, resulting in lack of labor and delays in construction. The airport was completed and opened on 11 December 2022, with operations starting from 5 January 2023 with the first flight operated by IndiGo.The concession period for the greenfield project is 40 years with a possible extension of another 20 years through a bid process. The airport will cater to 4.4 million passengers in the first phase and 13.1 million by the end of the fourth phase. The airport will operate on a hybrid model with 30% cross-subsidy, and the concession offers 232 acres of land for commercial city-side development for a period of 60 years.

Pernem is a northmost administrative region or sub-district in North Goa. It acts as the Gateway of Goa from Maharashtra side. It is also the name of the town of Pernem, which is its headquarters. It has a Municipal Council. Geographically, Pernem is surrounded by Sawantwadi sub-district (Maharashtra State) on East, Arabian Sea on West, Bardez and Bicholim sub-district on south and Sawantwadi sub-district (Maharashtra State) on north. The two rivers which decide the boundary of this sub-district are Terekhol River and Chapora River. Terekhol river acts as a border of Maharashtra and Goa while Chapora river acts as a border of Pernem sub-district and Bardez sub-district.

Fort Santa Cruz de Alorna also known as Halarn fort or Alorna Fort is one of the oldest forts in Goa. It is situated 30 kilometers from the town of Mapusa. It was constructed by the Bhonsles of Sawantwadi in the 17th century, to defend against the Maratha attacks. From there, one can get a good view of the surrounding river and land. The renovation work of the Alorna fort has been completed and is open for public. The renovation work has been carried out by the Archeological Survey of India. and is not open to public.

Nadora is a village at one end of the North Goa taluka, or sub-district, of Bardez. It is divided by the Colvale river from the northernmost Goa taluka of Pernem or Pednem. It lies between Pirna to its east, and Revora to its west.
