Liberty School was a private secondary school in Blue Hill, Maine, United States, that operated for nearly ten years. The school had an open campus, and students were largely in control of their education. Many students were actively involved in the school’s democratic governance. In May 2007 the school community elected a new board of trustees to increase student enrollment and improve the school finances, but it was unsuccessful. The John Peters House is a historic house, and the centerpiece of the John Peters Estate on Peters Point in Blue Hill, Maine. Built in 1815 and enlarged c. 1900 and 1920, the property is historically significant for its association with John Peters, one of the first proprietors of Blue Hill, who arrived in the region in 1765, and was a prominent figure in local political and economic life for many years. His house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983; after serving for a time in the 20th century as an inn, it is now available for rent as an event venue.

The Jonathan Fisher House is a historic house museum at 44 Mines Road in Blue Hill, Maine. The house was built in 1814 by Reverend Jonathan Fisher, the first settled minister of Blue Hill, and is now a museum dedicated to his legacy. Fisher (1768-1847) kept a journal of his life in rural Maine, and published other works, including Scriptural Animals, a work illustrated with woodcuts he created. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969 (as Jonathan Fisher Memorial); it is open seasonally between July and October.

"Barncastle", also known as Kline Cottage, is a historic house, now an inn and restaurant, at 125 South Street in Blue Hill, Maine, United States. It is one of the earliest and largest summer cottages in Blue Hill, and remains one of its most visible and idiosyncratic. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and originally called "Ideal Lodge" after the Boston Ideal Opera Company founded by its builder, Effie Hinckley Ober, the house was finished in 1884 to a design by George Asa Clough, Blue Hill native and noted Boston architect, Effie's childhood friend. Entirely engulfing a smaller Cape Cod-style house owned by Effie's mother Mary Peters Hinckley Ober Atherton, a descendant of early Blue Hill settlers, Clough's design derived from notable buildings of his more famous contemporaries: the massing of the main block was based on a cottage by W.R. Emerson, and the landmark arch-and-turret link between kitchen wing and carriage barn strongly recalls familiar works by McKim, Mead and White at Narragansett Pier and Mamaroneck. The building has some idiosyncratic elements, including its central staircase, which rises in stages to an area featuring an interior window and balcony, and a modest bellcast-topped turret that rises from its main facade.Now housing an inn and restaurant, Barncastle was listed on the National Register in 1980.

Parker House is an historic house at 185 South Street in Blue Hill, Maine. Built c. 1816 and substantially updated in the Colonial Revival style in 1900 to a design by George Albert Clough, the house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004 for its architectural significance.

WERU-FM (89.9 MHz) is a noncommercial, listener-sponsored community radio station licensed to the town of Blue Hill, Maine. It is owned by the Salt Pond Community Broadcasting Company. WERU-FM has studios in East Orland and its transmitter is on Blue Hill Mountain off Mountain Road. The station has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 12,000 watts, using a tower at 261 meters (856 feet) in height above average terrain (HAAT). The primary signal stretches from Bangor to Rockland to Bar Harbor in Down East Maine. In July 2004, the station began streaming online, and in April 2006, started providing podcasts of its spoken word programming. It holds periodic on-air fundraisers to support the station.

The East Blue Hill Library is a public library at 9 Curtis Cove Road, in the village of East Blue Hill, Maine. It is located in an architecturally distinctive yet diminutive Craftsman building, designed by John W. Merrow and built in 1919–20, that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The library is open four days a week.

East Blue Hill is an unincorporated village in the town of Blue Hill, Hancock County, Maine, United States. The community is located along Maine State Route 176, 10 miles (16 km) south-southwest of Ellsworth.

The East Blue Hill Post Office is a small rural post office building at 13 Curtis Cove Road in East Blue Hill, Maine. Built by postmaster George Long in the 1880s or 1890s, it is a rare statewide example of a privately owned post office building, built without reference to United States Postal Service standards. Now owned by a local non-profit, it is still the community's post office. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.
