Pengwern Boat Club is the community rowing club in Shrewsbury, UK. Porthill Bridge, also often referred to as Port Hill Footbridge, is a suspension bridge for pedestrians crossing the River Severn in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. It connects Porthill with the Quarry and the town centre. Next to it on the Porthill side is the Boathouse public house and Becks Field - both Quarry Park and Becks Field are extensive open green spaces largely preserved from building by their propensity to flood. Porthill Bridge experiences significant vibration, even when few people are crossing it - and has done since it was installed. Local pedestrians mostly accept this eccentricity as part of the bridge's charm. A ferry operated here until the bridge was built in 1922 by David Rowell & Co. One of the posts to which the cable was attached is still visible on the north bank of the river just a few metres west of the crossing. The bridge was opened on 18 January 1923. £2,000 of the bridge's total £2,600 cost was paid for by the Shropshire Horticultural Society. From March to July 2012 the bridge was closed for refurbishment, which included repainting the whole bridge and replacing the timber deck, costing £575,000. The bridge was temporarily replaced with a passenger ferry between the Quarry and the Boat House pub with an adult single fare of 50p.

St Chad's Church in Shrewsbury is traditionally understood to be founded in Saxon times, and King Offa is believed to have founded the church, though it is possible it has an earlier foundation even than that. It is possible it was operating on its initial site from buildings that were part of a royal palace established in 500s CE, Kingdom of Powys who had their capital at Shrewsbury, when it was known as Pengwern. For a period of nearly 1000 years the church was at the origianal College Hill site, only moving to its current building and site in 1792. The distinctive round shape and high tower of the new building is a well-known landmark in the town, near the Quarry area of parkland. The current building is a Grade I listed building.The motto of the church is "open doors, open hearts, and open minds". This indicates the aspiration of the church to be a welcoming church, involved in the community, and on a collective journey seeking after God.Charles Darwin was baptised in St Chad's church in 1809, and as a young boy attended the church with his mother Susannah.In 2010, the church became a member of the Greater Churches Group.

The Rad Brook is a stream in Shropshire, England. It flows through Shrewsbury and enters the River Severn there. It is also known as the Bow Brook. This has given rise to the names Radbrook and Bowbrook, which are adjacent suburban areas of the town. Sometimes the name is claimed to change from the Bow Brook to the Rad Brook downstream of Bow Bridge on the B4386 Mytton Oak Road. The headwaters are around Sascott, south of Ford.

Shrewsbury Sixth Form College is a post-secondary co-educational sixth-form college located in Shrewsbury, the county town of Shropshire, England. The college currently has an enrolment of approximately 1,650 students, generally ranging between the ages of 16 and 19. The curriculum consists of AS, A levels and a small range of BTECs. GCSE English Language and Maths can only be taken alongside an A level programme as resits. The college was ranked as the 17th-best sixth-form college in 2012 (out of 400 institutions), has the best A-Level performance of any state-funded institution in Shropshire, and has been awarded 'Beacon Status'. The college's Welsh Bridge campus includes buildings of Grade II-listed status originally built in 1910 to house the Priory Grammar School for Boys.

Town Walls Tower (officially Wingfield's Tower) is the last remaining medieval watchtower belonging to the former town walls of Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England, UK. The fortified structure, which was finished in the 14th century, was used to observe the land south of the town and across River Severn. It is under the care of the National Trust.
