Thomas Jefferson High School, also known as TJ High School, is a public high school in Northwest Dallas, Texas (USA) that serves grades 9-12. The school is part of the Dallas Independent School District and is classified as a 5A school by the UIL. The school is named after the third President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson.

Ursuline Academy of Dallas (commonly referred to as Ursuline or UA) is a Catholic college preparatory school for girls located on Walnut Hill Lane, in the area around Preston Hollow in Dallas, Texas, USA. It is not a member of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Dallas since it was founded in 1874, before the foundation of the Diocese of Dallas, making it the oldest school in the city of Dallas.Founded by the Ursuline Sisters under the motto of Serviam, meaning "I will serve." Ursuline enrolls an average of 800 students each year with a 10:1 average student-teacher ratio. In 2020, it was awarded 2020 Niche Best Schools #46 Best All-Girls High Schools in America. It was also awarded Niche Best Schools #38 Best Catholic High Schools in America.

The John Gillin Residence is a large single-story Usonian house, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1950 and built in Dallas, Texas, in 1958. The Gillin House is Wright's only residential project in Dallas. Gillin, a successful oilman, geophysicist and electronics "gadgeteer", commissioned Wright to design a work of art that would also be suitable for living and entertaining. A self-made man, Wright respected him and allowed him to design many details including all door hardware, the stainless steel kitchenettes and even the diving board support. This sprawling Usonian is one of Wright's most extensive single-story residences. Three wings spin off a central hexagon much as might have happened had Wingspread been based on an equilateral parallelogram rather than a square. The home is organized around a massive angular fireplace. The acute angles of 60 and 120 degrees give intimacy to the rooms with ample light-filled space and volume that is unusual for a Frank Lloyd Wright designed home. The grand living room is under a hexagonal copper dome roof and ventilator specifically copied from the Arizona Biltmore Hotel's Aztec ballroom. The home was designed in response to the south central prairie's climate and its site of seven acres overlooking a creek. Long horizontal outer walls of understated native sandstone and horizontal bands of windows converge to create a dramatic entry. In 1996, the Gillin House was featured as Bob Mapplethorpe's house in the Wes Anderson film, Bottle Rocket.

The Hockaday School is an independent, secular, college preparatory day school for girls located in Dallas, Texas, USA. The boarding school was for girls in grades 8–12 and the day school is from pre-kindergarten to grade 12. The Hockaday School is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest.

Bluffview is an upscale neighborhood in North Dallas, Texas (USA). It is bounded by Northwest Highway (Loop 12) and the Preston Hollow neighborhood on the north, Inwood Road and the Devonshire neighborhood on the east, Lovers Lane and the Elm Thicket/North Park neighborhood on the south, and Midway Road, Bluebonnett Road, Bluff View Blvd., and the Shorecrest and Cochran's Chapel neighborhoods on the west. A subsection of Bluffview is Briarwood, which is bounded by Lovers Lane on the south, Inwood Road to the east, Horseshoe Trail & Briarwood Place to the north and Elsby Avenue on the west. The neighborhood was established in the late 1930s by the Elsby family on the site of the former Bluffview Dairy. The Briarwood Crime Watch & Neighborhood Association is a volunteer-run organization primarily focused on safety and crime prevention, as well as sponsoring community activities.

Warren Travis White High School is a public secondary school in Dallas, Texas (USA). W. T. White High School enrolls students in grades 9-12 and is a part of the Dallas Independent School District. The school, named in honor of the Dallas school superintendent who served from 1946 to 1968, is located in North Dallas about a mile southwest of the Interstate 635 (LBJ Freeway) and Dallas North Tollway intersection. Parts of North Dallas are zoned to W. T. White, as well as sections of Addison, Carrollton, and Farmers Branch. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.

The Winston School is a private coeducational day school in Dallas, Texas. The grade K-12 school is for children who must learn using non-traditional techniques. Established in 1975, the school is named after Sir Winston Churchill and offers individualized curricula for students with learning differences.

The 1984 Dallas nightclub shooting was a mass shooting that occurred on June 29, 1984, in Dallas, Texas. Abdelkrim Belachheb, a 39-year-old Moroccan national and resident alien, opened fire in Ianni's Restaurant and Club, a bar, killing six and severely injuring one. As under Texas law multiple murder by itself was not one of the aggravating factors required to make murder a capital crime, Belachheb could not be sentenced to death. The shooting resulted in a change in Texas law making multiple murder itself a capital crime, and Belachheb was instead sentenced to life in prison. The shooting also resulted in criticism of American immigration policy, as Belachheb was able to get a visa despite being a fugitive in both Belgium and Morocco. Shortly after the 30th anniversary of the shooting, The Dallas Morning News described it as "Dallas’ worst mass murder".

Devonshire is an upscale and affluent neighborhood in north Dallas, Texas (USA), bounded by Northwest Highway (Loop 12) and Preston Hollow on the north, the Dallas North Tollway, Preston Center and University Park on the east, Lovers Lane and Inwood Village on the south, and Inwood Road and the Bluffview neighborhood on the west.

Le Cordon Bleu Institute of Culinary Arts – Dallas was founded in 2007 and is affiliated with the Le Cordon Bleu Schools in North America. Located in Dallas, Texas, LCB Dallas is a branch of Texas Culinary Academy which is owned by Career Education Corporation under a licensing agreement with Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. All US Le Cordon Bleu College locations are scheduled to close in 2017.

Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas (commonly referred to as Jesuit Dallas or Dallas Jesuit, and formerly known as Jesuit High School) is a private, college-preparatory school for young men under the direction of the Society of Jesus and home to the Jesuit Dallas Museum in Dallas, Texas. While Jesuit operates independently of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Dallas, it exists and serves the Catholic community with the leave of the bishop.

Preston Hollow is a neighborhood in north Dallas, Texas, USA. It is bordered on the south by the city of University Park, Texas.
