Ärmighorn

The Dündenhorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, overlooking Lake Oeschinen in the Bernese Oberland. It lies between the valleys of Kandersteg and Kiental, to the west of the Hohtürli Pass that links the two valleys.

Tschingelsee is a lake in the valley Kiental of the Canton of Berne, Switzerland. The lake formed on Tschingelalp in 1972 after severe weather. Since 1987 the area has been a nature preserve.

The Gehrihorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, overlooking Frutigen in the Bernese Oberland. It lies at the northern end of the range between the Kandertal and the Kiental.

Mitholz or Blausee-Mitholz is a village in Kandergrund municipality in the canton of Bern in Switzerland, with 170 inhabitants as of 2020. Blausee-Mitholz is a station on the Lötschberg railway line. A munitions storage explosion in 1947 destroyed the village and killed 9 people. A safety study commissioned in 2018 found that the site still contained munitions and was unsafe, and in 2020 the government announced that the village must be temporarily abandoned in 2030 for a clean-up that is projected to last 10 years.

Oeschinen Lake (German: Oeschinensee) is a lake in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland, 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) east of Kandersteg in the Oeschinen valley. At an elevation of 1,578 metres (5,177 ft), it has a surface area of 1.1147 square kilometres (0.4304 sq mi). Its maximum depth is 56 metres (184 ft). The lake was created by a giant landslide and is fed through a series of mountain creeks and drains underground. The water then resurfaces as the Oeschibach. Part of it is captured for electricity production and as water supply for Kandersteg. In observations from 1931 to 1965, the elevation of the lake surface varied between 1,566.09 metres (5,138.1 ft) and 1,581.9 metres (5,190 ft). The average seasonal variation was 12.2 metres (40 ft) (September/April). The lake is generally frozen during five months, from December to May. From time to time ice skating is possible on the ice. Fish in the lake include Arctic char (Seesaibling), lake trout (Kanadische Seeforelle), rainbow trout (Regenbogenforelle). From January to March, ice fishing is popular. A gondola lift from Kandersteg leads to Oeschinen, 25 minutes by foot from the lake. Since 2007 the lake is part of the Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn UNESCO World Heritage Site. As of summer 2021, a circumnavigation of Lake Oeschinen is not possible. The reason for this is the danger of an imminent rockfall on the south shore, which is why paths are closed there.

Blausee (literally: Blue Lake) is a lake in Bernese Oberland, Kandergrund, Switzerland. It is located near the Kander river. The lake has an elevation of 887 metres (2,910 ft) and an area of 0.64 hectares (1.6 acres).

Kandersteg is a railway station in the Swiss canton of Bern and municipality of Kandersteg. The station is located on the Lötschberg line of the BLS AG, and is the first station to the north of the Lötschberg tunnel.The station is served by the following passenger train: The station is also the northern terminus of the BLS car carrying shuttle train to Goppenstein station via the Lötschberg tunnel, with trains running every 30 minutes. There is no road across the Lötschen Pass, under which the tunnel runs, and the nearest alternative road crossings lie many kilometres to the east and west.The station is also served by PostAuto bus services to Mitholz, Blausee, Kandergrund and Frutigen and to Selden in the Gastertal.

Kandersteg is a municipality in the Frutigen-Niedersimmental administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. It is located along the valley of the River Kander, west of the Jungfrau massif. It is noted for its spectacular mountain scenery and sylvan alpine landscapes. Tourism is a very significant part of its economic life today. It offers outdoor activities year-round, with hiking trails and mountain climbing as well as downhill and cross-country skiing. Kandersteg hosted the ski jumping and Nordic combined parts of the 2018 Nordic Junior World Ski Championships.

The Hohtürli (Swiss German, literally means High Little Door) is a high Alpine hiking pass of the Bernese Alps. The pass crosses the col between the peaks of Wildi Frau and Dündenhorn, at an elevation of 2,778 m (9,114 ft).The pass is traversed by a hiking track, which connects the hamlet of Griesalp, at an elevation of 1,408 m (4,619 ft) in the upper Kiental south of Reichenbach im Kandertal, at the entrance of the Kiental, with Kandersteg, at an elevation of 1,174 m (3,852 ft) in the valley of the Kander, the Kandertal. The track forms part of the Alpine Pass Route, a long-distance hiking trail across Switzerland between Sargans and Montreux, and the Hohtürli is the highest pass crossed by that route.

The Dreispitz is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, overlooking Kiental in the Bernese Oberland. The summit can be reached by a trail from the Renggpass.

Aris ob Kien Castle (German: Burg Aris ob Kien) is a ruined medieval castle from the 12th Century. It is located in the municipality of Reichenbach im Kandertal in the Swiss canton of Bern.

The Wätterlatte is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, located east of Reichenbach im Kandertal in the Bernese Oberland. It lies on the range west of the Schwalmere, that separates the Suldtal from the Kiental.
