Sieciechów [ɕɛˈt͡ɕɛxuf] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Kutno, within Kutno County, Łódź Voivodeship, in central Poland. It lies approximately 4 kilometres (2 mi) north of Kutno and 54 km (34 mi) north of the regional capital Łódź. Sieciechów is near to Żurawieniec and Kuczków.

Academy of Applied Sciences of the National Economics in Kutno (pol. Akademia Nauk Stosowanych Gospodarki Krajowej w Kutnie, abbreviated - ANSGK w Kutnie) - higher education institution based in Kutno on the street Lelewel 7, almost in the center. It offers in-person and distance education, postgraduate education and a wide range of courses. The university has its own houses, dormitories, social facilities and sports grounds. It also has a library and its own publishing house - "Publishing ANSGK" There are international students’ programs, training, and excursions. The high school has its own hostels, sportive infrastructure, and libraries. Students have training in Poland and abroad.

The Battle of the Bzura (or the Battle of Kutno) was the largest battle of the German invasion of Poland and was fought from 9 to 19 September 1939. It was a Polish counter-attack against the Germans. The battle took place west of Warsaw, near the Bzura River. It began as a Polish counter-offensive and met some initial success, but it faltered as the Germans ultimately outflanked the Polish forces with a concentrated counter-attack, which significantly weakened the Polish forces and resulted in the destruction of the Poznań and Pomorze Armies. The conclusion of the battle marked the completion of the German occupation of Western Poland. The battle has been described as "the bloodiest and most bitter battle of the entire Polish campaign". Winston Churchill called the battle an "ever-glorious struggle".

Kutno [ˈkutnɔ] is a city in central Poland, with 42,704 inhabitants (2021) and an area of 33.6 km2 (13.0 sq mi). It is the capital of Kutno County in the Łódź Voivodeship. Founded in the medieval period, Kutno was a local center of crafts and trade, owing its growth to its location on the Royal Route connecting Warsaw with Poznań and Dresden in the 18th century, and the railway from Warsaw to Toruń and Bydgoszcz since the 19th century. During the invasion of Poland in 1939, Polish armies under General Tadeusz Kutrzeba conducted an offensive in and around Kutno, that was later named the Battle of the Bzura. Based on its central location and the intersection of multiple rail lines, Kutno is an important railroad junction in Poland. Two main lines cross there (Łódź – Toruń and Warsaw – Poznań – Berlin). Another connection also starts in Kutno, which connects the town to Płock. Kutno is the location of the European Little League Baseball Center and hosts the annual Kutno Rose Festival.

Kutno County (Polish: powiat kutnowski) is a unit of territorial administration and local government (powiat) in Łódź Voivodeship, central Poland. It came into being on 1 January 1999 as a result of the Polish local government reforms passed in 1998. Its administrative seat and largest town is Kutno, which lies 51 kilometres (32 mi) north of the regional capital Łódź. The county also contains the towns of Żychlin, lying 18 km (11 mi) east of Kutno, and Krośniewice, 14 km (9 mi) west of Kutno. The county covers an area of 886.29 square kilometres (342.2 sq mi). As of 2006, its total population was 104,124, out of which the population of Kutno was 47,557, that of Żychlin is 8,880, that of Krośniewice was 4,647, and the rural population was 43,040.
