Holt Farm (Andover, Massachusetts)

The Charles W. Ward Reservation is a 704-acre (285 ha) open space reserve located in Andover and North Andover, Massachusetts, 20 miles (32 km) north of Boston. The reserve, managed by the land conservation non-profit organization The Trustees of Reservations, is notable for its open drumlin hilltops and vistas encompassing Boston and Salem. The Ward Reservation offers 13 miles (21 km) of trails and former woods roads available for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, and cross country skiing; it is also a link in the 200-mile (320 km) Bay Circuit Trail system.

The Woodbridge House is a historic house in Andover, Massachusetts. It was built for George Woodbridge, a cordwainer, sometime between 1847 and 1852. The financially troubled Woodbridge sold the property in 1853, and has been through a succession of owners since. The house is notable for Greek Revival styling that is comparatively elaborate for a rural setting and a house of modest means.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (as "Woodridge House") in 1982.

Harnden Farm, known today as Infinity Farm, is a historic farmstead in Andover, Massachusetts. It includes a farmhouse and barn, built c. 1840 for Jesse Harnden, a farmer who moved from Reading. The house is notable for its late Federal style elements as well as its Greek Revival styling. It is 2+1⁄2 stories high, five bays wide, with a side gable roof and end chimneys. Its main entrance is sheltered by a portico with fluted columns and a balustrade on its roof. The barn on the property is a rare surviving example of a Greek Revival barn.The farmstead was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Abbot-Stinson House is a historic house in Andover, Massachusetts. The house is estimated to have been built in the early 1720s, in the transitional period between First Period and Georgian styles of construction. It was originally one room deep with a central chimney, but was extended by additions to the rear in the 20th century. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Holt-Cummings-Davis House is a historic house located in Andover, Massachusetts. It is estimated to have been built around 1700 at a location across the street, and nothing is known of its owners at the time. The first recorded owner was William Hawley, who bought it in 1803. It was purchased in 1835 by Job Abbott as a wedding present for is daughter Lucy, who married Joseph Holt. Under their ownership it was moved to its present location, and a new house was built on the old site. This house was next owned by Daniel Cummings, who married into the Holt family. In 1895 the property was bought by Augustus Davis, whose family owned it until 1935. The house itself is an unusual 1+1⁄2-story First Period house, six irregularly spaced bays wide, with a slightly off-center chimney. The house has been restored, and a large modern addition has been added to its west end. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Samuel Frye (or Frie) House is a historic First Period house in North Andover, Massachusetts. Tradition places its construction between 1711, when a previous house on the site burned down, and 1719, when Frye gave the property, with house, to his son. The house was in the Frye family until 1880. It is a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house, one room deep and five bays wide, with a rear leanto section that was added in the 19th century. The house is notable for its retention of a tradition two room form despite the removal of its central chimney during Federal period renovations.The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Benjamin Jenkins House is a historic house in Andover, Massachusetts. It was built in about 1807 for Colonel Benjamin Jenkins on family-owned land. The substantial and elegant Federal style house was a stop on the road between Salem and Andover, and remained in the family into the 20th century. One of its owners, William S. Jenkins, was a local builder of note in the second half of the 19th century, built the large ell of the house in 1849. In 1982, the house was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The Carlton-Frie-Tucker House is a historic First Period house in North Andover, Massachusetts. It is a rare example of a period building that was moved and added onto another which had been damaged by fire. The oldest portion of the house, its east side and center chimney, were probably built c. 1709 by Ebenezer Frie. The west side of the house is a second structure that was attached to the first in the 1760s, with some documentary and physical evidence that this was due to a fire destroying the original west side. A leanto section was added to the rear of the house in the 20th century, as was a wing on the northwest corner, connecting the house to its barn.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Russell House is a historic house in Andover, Massachusetts. The weatherboarded Federal-style home was built in 1805. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The farm encompasses some 11 acres (4.5 ha). The house and farm were owned by Deacon Joseph Russell, a descendant of Robert Russell, a Scotsman, who emigrated to Massachusetts in the seventeenth century and was the first person buried in Andover's newly created South Parish 'Burying-Yard,' as it was called, in 1710 at age 80. Russell's descendants intermarried with the Holt, Abbott, Marshall, Chandler, Dane and other early Andover settler families. The 'Scotland District' name for that section of Andover derives from Robert Russell's Scottish birthplace, and his subsequent name for his landholding which he called 'Scotland farm.'

WPAA was a radio station, broadcasting from the campus of Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. Founded using Phillips alum and then-NBC president Robert Sarnoff's gift of $15,000, the station was launched in 1965 by a host of famous personalities, including Bob Hope, Jack Lemmon, David Brinkley, Sammy Davis Jr., and Hugh Downs. The station's signal was powered by a 33 watt transmitter and reached over 104 square kilometers, which, at launch, had the potential to reach over 150,000 people. Following the loss of Phillips Academy's station equipment and the general decline of radio, WPAA refocused resources as a music studio, offering recording opportunities for student performers and providing live sound equipment for nearly all campus events, including the station's "Battle of the Bands" every spring.

Paresky Commons (colloquially known as "Commons") is Phillips Academy's main dining facility. Designed by architect Charles Platt and constructed by Thompson Starrett, Commons was built in the 1920s Colonial Revival style. Located in Flagstaff Quadrangle (designed by the Olmsted brothers), it is the social hub of Andover. Today, Commons aims to serve healthy food from diverse backgrounds while still accounting for dietary needs and sustainability.
