Almon (Israeli settlement)

Ein Farah or 'Ayn Fara (Arabic: عين فرح), known in Hebrew as En Prat, is a spring located at the head of Wadi Qelt, 325 metres above sea level, between Jerusalem and Jericho in the West Bank. Until 1970, the water of the spring was pumped to supply Jerusalem. Since the 1970s it is part of the Israeli En Prat (upper Wadi Qelt) nature reserve. The spring flows into a natural rock pool, and its output (around 1500 m³ a day) creates a brook that flows all year round.Ein Farah is the uppermost and largest of Wadi Qelt's three perennial springs. In Hebrew the entire stream is called Prat; in Arabic though, each sections has its own name, according to the respective spring; the upper section is called Wadi Farah after 'Ayn Farah.The spring's water has been collected and sent downstream by aqueducts during several historical periods since antiquity, and was even used to supply water to Jerusalem, some 450 metres uphill, between 1926 and 1970.

El-Jai cave is a sizable karstic cave located in a cliff within the northern Judaean Desert, in the modern-day West Bank. The El-Jai cave served as a refuge cave for Jewish rebels during the late phase of the Bar Kokhba revolt, around 135 CE. A collection of 16 coins was discovered within the cave, with most seem to have been deposited towards the end of the revolt. Among these, were four Bar Kokhba coins and two Aelia Capitolina coins featuring Hadrian and Sabina. This discovery supported Cassius Dio's historical timeline over Eusebius's, affirming that the Romans established the colony of Aelia Capitolina over the ruins of Jerusalem prior to the revolt, rather than afterward. Additionally, it suggested that coin minting in the new colony commenced before the end of the revolt.

Khirbet Almit is an archaeological site in the West Bank, occupied from the Middle Bronze Age to the Ottoman period. It is located in the Judaean Desert about 4 km northeast of Mount Scopus and about 1.5 km southeast of 'Anata. The site is situated on the top of two peaks of one hill at an altitude of 638 meters above sea level, near Nahal Zimri and on the border of the Nahal Prat Nature Reserve.

Kfar Dvora was a Jewish settlement during the Talmudic period in the upper Gilbon River in the Golan Heights. At the site, remains of a Jewish settlement, synagogue, a Beth midrash, 5 inscriptions in Aramaic, 1 in Greek, and one in Hebrew were discovered, which was a novelty in research, as it indicated the existence of a Beth midrash in the place. Many decorated stones were also found, integrated into secondary construction and scattered in the area. On the ruins of Kfar Dvora, the Syrian village of Daburiya was established, which is currently abandoned. Before the Six-Day War, the village was inhabited by Bedouins of the Na'arna tribe, who made secondary use of the stones from the ancient Jewish settlement for construction purposes. The village is currently located northwest of the settlement of kidmat Tzvi.

Nofei Prat (Hebrew: נוֹפֵי פְּרָת, lit. 'Prat Scenes') is an Israeli settlement organized as a community settlement in the West Bank. Located near Ma'ale Adumim, it falls under the jurisdiction of Mateh Binyamin Regional Council. In 2006 there were around 90 families living in the settlement. In 2009 about 140 families lived there. Both religious and secular families live in Nofei Prat. The international community considers Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this.

Geva Binyamin (Hebrew: גֶּבַע בִּנְיָמִין. lit. Benjamin Hill), also known as Adam (Hebrew: אדם), is an Israeli settlement in the West Bank, built over land expropriated from the Palestinian village of Jaba'. It is organised as a community settlement and falls under the jurisdiction of Mateh Binyamin Regional Council. In 2021, it had a population of 5,857. The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this.

The Quds Governorate (Arabic: محافظة القدس, romanized: Muḥāfaẓat al-Quds; Hebrew: נפת אל-קודס), also Jerusalem Governorate, is one of the 16 governorates of Palestine and located in the central part of the West Bank. The current governor, appointed by the Palestinian National Authority, is Adnan Ghaith since 2018, who succeeded to Adnan al-Husayni, appointed in 2008. The Governorate has two sub-districts: Jerusalem J1, which includes the localities within the territory controlled by the Israeli Jerusalem municipality (East Jerusalem), and Jerusalem J2, which includes the remaining parts of the Jerusalem Governorate. The district capital of the Governorate is East Jerusalem (al-Quds). The total land area of the governorate is 344 km2. According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the governorate had a population of 429,500 residents in 2005, accounting for 10.5% of Palestinians living in the Palestinian territories in 2022 population had risen to 482,854 as official Statistics.

Bab al-Shams (Arabic: باب الشمس Bāb aš-Šams: Gate of the Sun) was a Palestinian encampment in the West Bank that housed 250 Palestinian and foreign activists for two nights in January 2013. They erected 25 tents on private Palestinian land in the E1 area where Israel has decided to build more than 3500 housing units.It was in the E1 area Israel intends to fill with houses, and, according to David Shulman, impede thereby the construction of a Palestinian state. The site was forcibly evacuated on January 12, when the IDF arrived in the middle of the night, tore down the tents, and also beat and arrested many of the activists. 100 people were arrested. On January 16, the Palestinian Authority created a formal village council for Bab al-Shams.The Israeli government intended to remove the tent outpost, claiming that it was illegal, but the activists received an injunction from the Supreme Court of Israel prohibiting the government from doing so for 6 days. The following day, the occupants were evacuated by the Israeli army, in defiance of the Supreme Court injunction. An Israeli police spokesman said the court allowed for the removal of the protesters even if the tents would stay temporarily. 100 people were arrested.

E1 (short for East 1) (Hebrew: מְבַשֶּׂרֶת אֲדֻמִּים, romanized: Mevaseret Adumim, lit. 'Herald of Adumim') – also called the E1 area, E1 zone or E1 corridor – is an area of the West Bank within the municipal boundary of the Israeli settlement of Ma'ale Adumim. It is located adjacent to and northeast of East Jerusalem and to the west of Ma'ale Adumim. It covers an area of 12 square kilometres (4.6 sq mi), which is home to a number of Bedouin communities including the village of Khan al-Ahmar and their livestock as well as a large Israeli police headquarters. The Palestinian tent site of Bab al Shams, which was established for several days in early 2013, also lay within this area. There is an Israeli plan for construction in E1, frozen since at least 2009 under international pressure. The plan is not synonymous with the expansion of Ma'ale Adumim, and was initially conceived by Yitzhak Rabin in 1995.Construction in E1 is controversial. Critics say that the plan aims at preventing any possible expansion of East Jerusalem by creating a physical link between Ma'ale Adumim and Jerusalem, and that it would effectively complete a crescent of Israeli settlements around East Jerusalem dividing it from the rest of the West Bank and its Palestinian population centres, and create a continuous Jewish population between Jerusalem and Ma'ale Adumim. It would also nearly bisect the West Bank, jeopardizing the prospects of a contiguous Palestinian state. Palestinians describe the E1 plan as an effort to Judaize Jerusalem.The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this.

Hizma (Arabic: حزما; is a Palestinian town in the Jerusalem Governorate, seven kilometers from Jerusalem's Old City. The town, mostly located in Area C of the West Bank, borders four Israeli settlements, Neve Yaakov and Pisgat Ze'ev (both officially considered part of Jerusalem), Geva Binyamin and Almon. Since 1967, Hizma has been occupied by Israel. The village is cut off from Jerusalem by the Israeli West Bank barrier in the west and from the West Bank by settlements in the east. As of 2007, Hizma had a population of about 5650 residents.

Anathoth is the name of one of the Levitical cities given to "the children of Aaron" in the tribe of Benjamin (Joshua 21:13–18; 1 Chronicles 6:54–60). Residents were called Antothites or Anetothites.

Neveh Erez (Hebrew: נווה ארז, lit. 'Erez Home'), also known as Mitzpe Erez (Hebrew: מצפה ארז, lit. 'Erez Lookout'), is an Israeli outpost in the West Bank. Located near Ma'ale Mikhmas, it falls under the jurisdiction of the Mateh Binyamin Regional Council. It is home to around 8 families. The outpost was established in 1999, but was vacated several times before being made permanent in 2001. It was named after Erez Gerstein, an IDF commander killed in Lebanon. Israeli outposts are illegal under Israeli law. The international community further considers all Israeli settlements, including outposts, in the West Bank illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this.
