The canton of Nancy-Sud (French: Canton de Nancy-Sud) is a former French canton located in the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle in the Lorraine region (now part of Grand Est). Created in 1879 from the canton of Nancy-Est, it was modified in 1973 to form the canton of Saint-Max and in 1997 during the creation of the canton of Malzéville. The last general councillor from this canton was Nicole Creusot (PS), elected in 2004.

The Villa Majorelle is a house located at 1 rue Louis-Majorielle in the city of Nancy, France, which was the home and studio of the furniture designer Louis Majorelle. It was designed and built by the architect Henri Sauvage in 1901-1902. The villa is one of the first and most influential examples of the Art Nouveau architectural style in France. It served as a showcase for Majorelle's furniture and the work of other noted decorative artists of the period, including ceramist Alexandre Bigot and stained glass artist Jacques Gruber. It is now owned by the city of Nancy, and is open to the public certain days for tours by reservation.

Mines Nancy (École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Nancy in French or Nancy School of Mines in English; also referred to as ENSMN, École des Mines de Nancy or Mines Nancy) is one of the leading French engineering Grandes Écoles. It is located in the campus Artem, in the city of Nancy, Eastern France (only 1h30 from Paris by TGV), and is part of the University of Lorraine. Around 400 students are taught general science and management and 300 follow specialised Master programs. These students are taught by 60 permanent professors. There are also 400 researchers including a hundred PhD students. Despite its small size, it is well represented in the French industry. Most of its alumni hold executive positions in the industry and large corporations or scientific research positions in France or abroad. It was created in 1919 on the request of the University of Nancy in order to contribute to the reconstruction of the mining and steel industry in the east of France after World War I. At the end of the 1950s, under the impulse of its then-director Bertrand Schwartz (younger brother of Laurent Schwartz), the school reorganized its curriculum to include a balanced blend of engineering, management and social sciences. At the time, it was an innovative educational model for engineers, that was later extended to other Grandes Ecoles.

Nancy-Ville station (French: Gare de Nancy-Ville) is the main railway station serving the city Nancy, Meurthe-et-Moselle department, northeastern France. It is situated on the Paris–Strasbourg railway.

Nancy 2 University (Université Nancy 2) was a French university located in Nancy, France. It was a member of the Nancy-Université federation, a group of the three higher education institutions in Nancy. It merged with Nancy-I, Paul Verlaine University – Metz, and the INPL forming the University of Lorraine. The merger process started in 2009 with the creation of a "pôles de recherche et d'enseignement supérieur" or PRES and was completed 1 January 2012.

Villers-lès-Nancy (French pronunciation: [vilɛʁ lɛ nɑ̃si], literally Villers near Nancy) is a commune in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in north-eastern France. Inhabitants are known as Villarois.

Meurthe-et-Moselle (French pronunciation: [mœʁt e mɔzɛl] ) is a department in the Grand Est region of France, named after the rivers Meurthe and Moselle. Its prefecture and largest city is Nancy and it borders the departments of Meuse to the west, Vosges to the south, Moselle and Bas-Rhin and it borders the Belgian province of Luxembourg and the country of Luxembourg by the canton of Esch-sur-Alzette to the north. It had a population of 733,760 in 2019.

Laxou (French pronunciation: [laksu]) is a commune in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in north-eastern France. It is a suburb, adjacent to the west of Nancy. 2002 125cc motorcycle world champion Arnaud Vincent was born here.

The TELECOM Nancy (formerly École supérieure d'informatique et applications de Lorraine or ÉSIAL) is a grande école of engineering created in 1990. It is associated with the University of Lorraine. TELECOM Nancy is a school associated with the Institut Mines-Télécom. It is the only school of generalised engineering studies in IT and digital sciences and technologies accredited by the Commission des Titres de l’Ingénieur (CTI - Engineer Qualification Committee) in the Greater East of France. It was created in 1990 and is based in Nancy, France. The standard curriculum is a three-year program (after two years of preparation) resulting in the French Diplôme d'Ingénieur, which is equivalent to a Master's degree of the European Higher Education Area.

The Henri Poincaré University, or Nancy 1, nicknamed UHP, was a public research university located in Nancy, France. UHP was merged into University of Lorraine in 2012, and was previously a member of the Nancy-Université federation, belonging to the French Nancy-Metz academy.

The Duchy of Lorraine (French: Lorraine [lɔʁɛn] ; German: Lothringen [ˈloːtʁɪŋən] ), originally Upper Lorraine, was a duchy now included in the larger present-day region of Lorraine in northeastern France. Its capital was Nancy. It was founded in 959 following the division of Lotharingia into two separate duchies: Upper and Lower Lorraine, the westernmost parts of the Holy Roman Empire. The Lower duchy was quickly dismantled, while Upper Lorraine came to be known as simply the Duchy of Lorraine. The Duchy of Lorraine was coveted and briefly occupied by the dukes of Burgundy and the kings of France, but was ruled by the dukes of the House of Lorraine after 1473. In 1737, the duchy was given to Stanisław Leszczyński, the former king of Poland, who had lost his throne as a result of the War of the Polish Succession, with the understanding that it would fall to the French crown on his death. When Stanisław died on 23 February 1766, Lorraine was annexed by France and reorganized as the province of Lorraine and Barrois.
