A Statue of Heracles stands in the Parc Mauresque in Arcachon, in the southwestern French department of Gironde. The marble statue by local sculptor Claude Bouscau was installed in 1948 to commemorate the actions of the French Resistance in fighting German occupying forces during the Second World War. The statue of the ancient Greek hero Heracles stands 3.1 metres (10 ft) tall, nude except for the skin of the defeated Nemean lion. Bouscau reduced the size of the statue's penis on two occasions shortly after its installation, following complaints from local women. The penis was frequently stolen, and in 2016 the city council decided it would not be replaced permanently but instead a temporary penis would be installed when public events were held near the statue.

The Synagogue of Arcachon is a Jewish synagogue located at 36 Avenue Gambetta in Arcachon, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France.

Arcachon (French: [aʁ.ka.ʃɔ̃] ; Gascon: Arcaishon) is a commune in the southwestern French department of Gironde. It is a popular seaside resort on the Atlantic coast 55 kilometres (34 mi) southwest of Bordeaux, in the Landes forest. It has a sandy beach and a mild climate said to be favourable for invalids suffering from pulmonary complaints.

Arcachon Basin or alternatively Arcachon Bay (French: Bassin d'Arcachon, French pronunciation: [basɛ̃ daʁkaʃɔ̃]; Gascon: Laca d'Arcaishon) is a bay of the Atlantic Ocean on the southwest coast of France, situated in Pays de Buch between the Côte d'Argent and the Côte des Landes, in the region of Aquitaine. The bay covers an area of 150 square kilometres (60 sq mi) at high tide and 40 km2 (15 sq mi) at low tide. Some of its geological features are natural preservation areas.The general shape of the Bassin d'Arcachon is that of an equilateral triangle pointing north, the southwest corner of which is open to the sea, between Cap Ferret and the town of Arcachon (more specifically, one of the suburbs of La Teste-de-Buch, Pyla-sur-Mer), through a three-kilometre-long (2 mi) narrow channel (Les Passes). On the north shore is the town of Arès, then Andernos-les-Bains on the northeast. Just south of the entrance is the Dune of Pilat. Nearly in the middle of the bay is a very particular island: L'île aux Oiseaux (Isle of the Birds).

The arrondissement of Arcachon is an arrondissement of France in the Gironde department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. It has 17 communes. Its population is 150,979 (2016), and its area is 1,469.8 km2 (567.5 sq mi).

The canton of La Teste-de-Buch is an administrative division of the Gironde department, southwestern France. La Teste-de-Buch (French pronunciation: [la tɛst də byʃ]; Occitan: La Tèsta (de Bug), [la ˈtɛstə (ðe ˈβyc)]; lit. "La Teste-of-Buch") is a coastal commune in the Gironde department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in Southwestern France. Until 13 June 1994, it was officially known simply as La Teste.The commune is located on the south shore of Arcachon Bay (Bassin d'Arcachon) and on the Atlantic coast of France, lying in the southwestern part of Gironde, on the departmental border with Landes. It is the eighth-largest commune in metropolitan France in geographical area at 180.20 km2 (69.58 sq mi). It is the largest and most populated of the four communes that make up the Communauté d'agglomération Bassin d'Arcachon Sud (COBAS), which coincides with the urban unit (agglomeration) of La Teste-de-Buch-Arcachon, population 67,563 (2018). La Teste-de-Buch proper had a population of 26,269 as of 2020.La Teste-de-Buch is famous for the Dune of Pilat (Dune du Pilat), the highest sand dune in Europe. It is also the site of a fictional battle during the Napoleonic wars depicted in Sharpe's Siege by Bernard Cornwell.

The Tramway du Cap-Ferret, also known as the Petit train du Cap-Ferret, is a 600 mm (1 ft 11+5⁄8 in) narrow gauge railway on the Atlantic coast of France in the department of Gironde. The tramway is situated on the Cap Ferret, a peninsular that which divides the Atlantic Ocean from Arcachon Bay, and links the shores of the bay with the beaches on the Atlantic coast.The line first operated in 1879 and was originally pulled by a horse. Locomotives took over in 1925, but the service ceased in 1935. In 1952, the service was restarted in its current form. In 1989, the train was acquired by the commune of Lège-Cap-Ferret. The line is some 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) long and connects the beach at Plage de l'horizon on the Atlantic coast with the jetty at Jetée de Bélisaire on Arcachon Bay. It operates every afternoon from April to September, with services running every 30 minutes or less, and with some morning services in the peak summer season. Ferries connect the Jetée de Bélisaire with the resort town of Arcachon on the other side of Arcachon Bay.Trains are operated by open-sided coaches hauled by diesel locomotives, and the line is largely situated along the road side. At the beach terminus, remains of the Atlantic Wall can be seen.

Grand Piquey is a village in the Gironde département, close to Bordeaux and on Arcachon Bay. It is part of the commune Lège-Cap-Ferret.

The Canal des Landes, also Canal de Cazaux, is a canal in south western France, Aquitaine Region, connecting the Étang de Biscarrosse and the Étang de Cazaux to the Bassin d'Arcachon.

Cap Ferret (French pronunciation: [kap fɛʁɛ]; English: Cape Ferret) is a headland situated at the south end of the commune of Lège-Cap-Ferret in the Gironde department in the French southwestern Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. The headland takes the form of a spit, which separates the Atlantic Ocean from Arcachon Bay. At the same time, the entrance to Arcachon Bay separates Cap Ferret from the resort town of Arcachon. Cap Ferret is famous for its lighthouse and as an up-market resort that has retained its natural feel at the heart of the Landes of Gascony and the Pays de Buch. It is also famous for its ostreicole (oyster-farming) activity and numerous tasting sites. Cap Ferret is accessible by road from the north, and by passenger ferry from Arcachon. The Tramway du Cap-Ferret, a diesel operated narrow-gauge railway, links the ferry landing at Bélisaire on the shores of Arcachon Bay with the beaches on the Atlantic coast.
