Neosho National Fish Hatchery

Neosho Commercial Historic District is a national historic district located at Neosho, Newton County, Missouri. The district encompasses 38 contributing buildings in the central business district of Neosho. It developed between about 1868 and 1943, and includes representative examples of Victorian and Modern Movement architecture. Notable buildings include the Newton County Courthouse (1936), Newton County Jail (1888), Haas Building (1906), First National Bank (1922), Auditorium and City Hall (1938), Masonic Lodge (1883, 1913), and Newton County Bank (1884).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993, with a boundary increase in 2007.

Neosho Wholesale Grocery Company, also known as North Transfer and Storage, is a historic warehouse building located at Neosho, Newton County, Missouri. The north section was built in 1908, and the south section added about 1922. The two- to three-story brick building features large storefronts, a corbelled brick cornice, and a painted wall sign.: 5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

On August 12, 2007, a mass shooting took place at the First Congregational Church in Neosho, Missouri, United States. The shooter was identified as 52-year-old Eiken Elam Saimon, a citizen of the Federated States of Micronesia. Saimon killed the church pastor and two deacons and wounded four others. After a brief hostage situation, he was arrested by police. He later agreed to a plea deal to accept three life sentences without parole and other penalties in exchange for avoiding the death penalty.

Neosho High School, also known as Neosho Intermediate School, is a historic high school building located at Neosho, Newton County, Missouri. It was built in 1916–17, and is a two-story, U-shaped, brick and stone trimmed building with Gothic Revival and Classical Revival style design elements. The building measures approximately 101 feet by 127 feet. Also on the property is the contributing two-story giraffe rock ancillary building, built as a vocational facility for the school in 1940.: 5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

The Second Baptist Church, also known as Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, is a historic African-American Baptist church located at Neosho, Newton County, Missouri. It was built in 1896, and is a one-story, rectangular brick building with Gothic Revival style design elements. It sits on a stone foundation, has a gable roof, and features a projecting, centered, two-story brick belfry.: 5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

Neosho (; originally Siouan pronunciation: [niˈoʒo] or Siouan pronunciation: [niˈoʒu]) is the most populous city in Newton County, Missouri, United States, which it serves as the county seat. With a population of 12,590 as of the 2020 census, the city is a part of the Joplin, Missouri Metropolitan Statistical Area, a region with an estimated 176,849 (2011) residents. Neosho lies on the western edge of the Ozarks, in the far southwest of the state. The name "Neosho" is generally accepted to be of Native American (most likely Osage) derivation, meaning "clear, cold water", referring to local freshwater springs. The springs attracted varying cultures of Native American inhabitants for thousands of years. The Osage Nation had long occupied the territory at the time of European contact. Like the Osage, European-American settlers were also attracted to the springs, and founded the community of Neosho in 1833. It was incorporated as a municipal government in 1878. Nicknamed "City of Springs", Neosho has long served as an agricultural center. Since 1888, it has been the site of the Neosho National Fish Hatchery, the oldest in the National Fish Hatchery System. It is known locally as the "Gateway to the Ozarks". Since 1957, it has also been identified as "the Flower Box City".

Hickory Creek is a stream in Newton County in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is a tributary of Shoal Creek. The stream headwaters arise at 36°50′44″N 94°14′39″W at an elevation of approximately 1265 feet and the stream flows generally west past the communities of Monark Springs and Aroma before passing under U.S. Route 60. The stream continues northwest past the northeast side of Neosho to its confluence with Shoal Creek just north of Neosho at 36°53′37″N 94°22′15″W at an elevation of 981 feet.Hickory Creek was so named due to the presence of hickory timber in the area.

Fort Crowder was a U.S. Army post located in Newton and McDonald counties in southwest Missouri, constructed and used during World War II.

Neosho Township is an inactive township in Newton County, in the U.S. state of Missouri.Neosho Township took its name from the community of Neosho, Missouri. The unincorporated community of Tipton Ford is also in the township.

Newton County is a county located in the southwest portion of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2020 census, the population was 58,648. Its county seat is Neosho. The county was organized in 1838 and is named in honor of John Newton, a hero who fought in the Revolutionary War.Newton County is part of the Joplin, MO Metropolitan Statistical Area.
