Rock Ridge (Monterey, Massachusetts)

Monterey is a small town in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, United States. It is part of the Pittsfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 1,095 at the 2020 census.

The Captain John Brewer House is a historic house at 471 Main Road in Monterey, Massachusetts. The house was built in 1750 by John Brewer, one of the first settlers in what is now Monterey, and is a well-preserved example of Georgian architecture. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Bidwell House Museum is a historic house and museum on Art School Road in Monterey, Massachusetts, United States.

Lake Garfield is a 275-acre (111 ha) lake located about 0.5 miles (0.80 km) north of the center of Monterey, off Route 23 in Berkshire County, Massachusetts.

The Hop Brook Valley (also known as the Tyringham Valley) is a valley in southeastern Berkshire County, Massachusetts. The valley lies predominantly in the town of Tyringham, Massachusetts, although a good portion of it is located in the neighboring town of Lee. Because of its rural location, scenic views, and variety of hiking trails, it is considered as a destination for travellers of the region.

Dry Hill is a 206-acre (0.83 km2) nature preserve in New Marlborough, Massachusetts and is managed by the Trustees of Reservations, who acquired the land in 2000. It includes a 1.5-mile (2.4 km) hiking trail of medium to strenuous difficulty.

Ashintully Gardens is a 120 acre (0.5 km²) estate in Tyringham, Massachusetts that is maintained by The Trustees of Reservations land trust. The gardens, and the adjoining 594 acres (2.4 km²) McLennan Reservation, were the gift of John Stewart McLennan Jr., and his wife Katharine. The name Ashintully comes from Gaelic Eas an Tulaich and means "cascade of the hillock".

Lake Buel is a 196-acre (0.79 km2) great pond in Berkshire County, Massachusetts just south of Route 57 and east of Great Barrington. It is surrounded by over one-hundred summer homes and a few dozen year-round homes in about a dozen separate, tight-knit neighborhoods, each with its own private or semi-private road. The roads do not interlink.The lake is named after Samuel C. Buel of Tyringham, Massachusetts who saved people from drowning on the lake (called at the time Six Mile Pond) on July 23, 1812.The northern shore of the lake is in the town of Monterey and the southern shore is in New Marlborough. There is a paved boat ramp on the northwest shore owned by the Public Access Board and managed by Forests and Parks and Fisheries and Game. A portion of the Appalachian Trail crosses over a breached mill dam along the northern inlet.

Camp Half Moon is a co-ed sleepover camp on Lake Buel in Monterey, Massachusetts. Camp Half Moon was established as a boys camp in 1922. The Mann family, originally from Lititz, Pennsylvania, currently own and operate Half Moon and purchased it from Dr. Ed Storey in 1967, who had owned and operated it for over 25 years. "Doc" Storey had been a history teacher in Pelham, New York, and many campers during the 1950s and 1960s came from Pelham and surrounding communities of southern Westchester County. For many years a large number of the boys attending Half Moon came not only from the northeastern United States but also from all across Latin America. Within just a few years after the 1959 Cuban Revolution numerous families who escaped from the Communist takeover of the island and resettled in Puerto Rico were sending their sons to Half Moon to have a broader experience with American youngsters from the mainland. The camp is now for both boys and girls.

McLennan Reservation is a nature reserve located in Otis and Tyringham, Massachusetts. The property is owned by The Trustees of Reservations through a series of endowments for preserving the land, the first in 1977. The reservation is adjacent to another Trustees property, Ashintully Gardens. The 2.4 miles (3.9 km) Round Mountain Trail loops around the reservation.

The Tyringham Shaker Settlement Historic District was a historic Shaker village on Jerusalem Road in Tyringham, Massachusetts. Among the buildings in the village were mills and workshops. There was a reduction in members prior to the American Civil War and in the 1870s the remaining "believers" moved to Hancock Shaker Village in Massachusetts and Enfield Shakers Village in Connecticut. In 1874 the Shakers traded the property to a New York City doctor, Joseph Jones, for property in Pennsylvania. Dr. Jones open a summer retreat and boardinghouse called "Fernside". In 1889 the property was sold to the Tyringham Forest Club. It is now farmland. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

New Marlborough Village is a historic district encompassing the heart of the oldest village in New Marlborough, Massachusetts. It includes properties on Massachusetts Route 57, New Marlborough, Monterey and Southfield Roads. It was the town's civic heart through the late 19th century, and retains character from that period. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
