The Central American Parliament (Spanish: Parlamento Centroamericano), also known as PARLACEN, is the political institution and parliamentary body of the Central American Integration System (SICA). Its headquarters are in Guatemala City.

The Centro de Estudios Conservacionistas (CECON; Center for Conservation Studies) is a scientific research institute of the San Carlos University of Guatemala (USAC). The center was created in August 1981, and since February 1982 has been administratively attached to USAC's faculty of chemistry and pharmacy. The "Protected Areas Unit" of CECON manages a number of nature reserves, including: Mario Dary Rivera Protected Biotope, better known as "Biotopo del Quetzal", located in Salamá, Baja Verapaz. Chocón Machacas Protected Biotope in Livingston, Izabal. Cerro Cahuí Protected Biotope San Miguel la Palotada (El Zotz) Protected Biotope Naachtún-Dos Lagunas Protected Biotope El Tigre Protected Biotope in Petén Monterrico Multiple use area in Monterrico, Santa Rosa.

The Federal Republic of Central America (Spanish: República Federal de Centroamérica), also called the United Provinces of Central America (Spanish: Provincias Unidas del Centro de América) in its first year of creation, was a sovereign state in Central America that consisted of the territories of the former Captaincy General of Guatemala of New Spain. It existed from July 1823 to February 1841 as a democratic republic. The republic consisted of the present-day Central American countries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua as well as the southern Mexican state of Chiapas. In the 1830s, a sixth state was added—Los Altos, with its capital in Quetzaltenango—occupying parts of what are now the western highlands of Guatemala and Chiapas. Shortly after Central America declared independence from the Spanish Empire in 1821, some of its countries were annexed by the First Mexican Empire in 1822 and then Central America formed the Federal Republic in 1823. From 1838 to 1840, the federation descended into civil war, with conservatives fighting against liberals and separatists fighting to secede. These factions were unable to overcome their ideological differences and the federation was dissolved after a series of bloody conflicts.

Galileo University is a private university in Guatemala City. It was founded and authorized on October 31, 2000. Initially, it was the School of Computer Engineering (FISICC) of Universidad Francisco Marroquín. It stands out for its technological contribution in higher education in Guatemala.

The Torre del Reformador (Tower of the Reformer) is a 71.85 meter (236 ft.) tall steel framework tower in Zone 9 of Guatemala City. The tower was built in 1935, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Justo Rufino Barrios, who was President of Guatemala and instituted a number of reforms. The basic shape of the structure resembles the Eiffel Tower. It was originally constructed with a bell on its top, which in 1986 was replaced with a beacon.

The Islamic Da'wah Mosque of Guatemala (Spanish: Mezquita de Aldawaa Islámica) is a mosque in Guatemala City, Guatemala. It is operated by the Dawah denomination of Islam. The mosque is located at 4ta. calle 7-77 in Zone 9 of the city. The mosque is available for the five daily prayers and offers classes in Islamic studies.

Campus TEC Guatemala is a technology park located in Guatemala City. It is the first technology park in the Central American region. The Park is located in the center of the city in zone 4 in area known as "Cuatro Grados Norte" that is part of the technology corridor the local government is implementing in the city. It currently includes over 100 high-tech local companies that mostly have been doing business overseas mainly in the United States, Europe and other countries in Latin America. Campus TEC is also endorsed by the government by collaborating with the Competitivity agenda for the Guatemalan government.

The Estadio Nacional Doroteo Guamuch Flores is a multi-use national stadium in Guatemala City, the largest in Guatemala. It was built in 1948, to host the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1950, and was renamed after long-distance runner Doroteo Guamuch Flores, winner of the 1952 Boston Marathon. It has a capacity of 26,000 seats. Used mostly for football (soccer) matches, the stadium has hosted the majority of the home matches of the Guatemala national football team throughout its history, and is the home of local football club Comunicaciones F.C. The venue is operated by the Confederación Deportiva Autónoma de Guatemala (CDAG). One of the worst disasters ever to occur in a sports venue took place at the stadium in 1996, when 83 people were killed because of a human avalanche on the stands.

The Numismatic Museum of Guatemala (Spanish: Museo Numismático de Guatemala) is a museum in Guatemala City. The museum is dedicated to the history of banknotes and coins used in the country.

Francisco Marroquín University (Spanish: Universidad Francisco Marroquín), also known by the abbreviation UFM, is a private, secular university in Guatemala City, Guatemala. It describes its mission as "to teach and disseminate the ethical, legal, and overall economic principles of a society of free and responsible persons." According to Milton Friedman, it is "one of the leading universities in Latin America."

Avenida Reforma ("Reform Avenue") is a main boulevard in the east-center part of Guatemala City, the capital of Guatemala. It is considered one of the main thoroughfares of Guatemala City. It is 2.26 km (1 mi) in length, and has an average width of 60 meters (197 ft) from sidewalk to sidewalk. It runs from north to south, connecting the north-central areas of the city (Zones 1, 4, and 5) with the southern districts (Zones 9, 10, 13, and 14). It divides Zone 9 from Zone 10. The Zona Viva, where multiple modern buildings can be found, is adjacent to Avenida Reforma. The southern end is at the Obelisco, where it is continued by Avenida Las Americas.

The Supreme Court of Justice of Guatemala (La Corte Suprema de Justicia), or CSJ, is the highest court within Guatemala's judiciary branch. As the highest Court in Guatemala, it has jurisdiction over all legal matters that may arise in the country. The Court sits in the Palace of Justice, in Zone 1 of Guatemala City. The current President of the Supreme Court of Justice is Oscar Cruz Oliva, who was voted in by the Congress of the Republic of Guatemala.The Supreme Court of Justice was established by the Constitution of Guatemala (articles 203-222) and also operates under the legal framework set out in the Law of the Judicial Branch, Decree Number 2-89 of the Congress of the Republic of Guatemala and the General Regulation of the Courts, Agreement Number 36-2004. The Supreme Court is composed of thirteen justices, including its President.
