Sunningdale Golf Club is a golf club in Sunningdale, Berkshire, England, located approximately 30 miles (50 km) west-southwest of London. Sunningdale Golf Club was founded in 1900 and has two eighteen hole golf courses: the Old Course, designed by Willie Park Jr., and the New Course, designed by Harry Colt, which opened in 1923. Sunningdale has hosted many prestigious events in golf, including the British Masters, Walker Cup, Women's British Open, and The Senior Open Championship. From 2004 to 2013, Europe's International Final Qualifying tournament for The Open Championship was held over both the Old and New courses at Sunningdale. It hosted the Seniors Amateur Championship in 2017.

The 2001 Women's British Open was held 2–5 August in England at Sunningdale Golf Club, southwest of London in Sunningdale, Berkshire. It was the 25th edition of the Women's British Open, and the first as a major championship on the LPGA Tour. It replaced the du Maurier Classic in Canada as the fourth and final major of the season. On Sunningdale's Old Course, Se-ri Pak won the third of her five major titles, two strokes ahead of runner-up Mi -Hyun Kim. Four strokes behind leader Catriona Matthew after 54 holes and tied for ninth, Pak eagled the first hole on Sunday and shot a final round 66 (−6) for 277 (−11). The event was televised by ESPN and ABC Sports in the United States and BBC Sport in the United Kingdom.

The 2004 Women's British Open was held 29 July to 1 August at Sunningdale Golf Club in Berkshire, England. It was the 28th edition of the Women's British Open, and the fourth as a major championship on the LPGA Tour. TNT Sports, ABC Sports and BBC Sport broadcast the event in the United States and the United Kingdom. Karen Stupples won her only major, five shots ahead of runner-up Rachel Teske.

The 2000 Seve Trophy took place 14–16 April on The Old Course at Sunningdale Golf Club in Berkshire, England. The team captain for Great Britain and Ireland was Colin Montgomerie, with the captain for Continental Europe being Seve Ballesteros. The inaugural competition was won by Continental Europe. The event was officially called "The Eurobet Seve Ballesteros Trophy".

The 43rd Curtis Cup Match was played from 30 August to 1 September 2024 on the Old Course at Sunningdale Golf Club near Sunningdale, Berkshire, England. Great Britain and Ireland won 101⁄2 to 91⁄2.

The 1907 News of the World Match Play was the fifth News of the World Match Play tournament. It was played from Tuesday 15 to Thursday 17 October at Sunningdale Golf Club. 32 players competed in a straight knock-out competition, with each match contested over 18 holes, except for the final which was over 36 holes. The winner received £100 out of a total prize fund of £240. James Braid defeated J.H. Taylor 4 & 2 in the final to win the tournament.

The 1903 News of the World Match Play was the first News of the World Match Play tournament. It was played from Tuesday 13 to Thursday 15 October at Sunningdale Golf Club. 32 players competed in a straight knock-out competition, with each match contested over 18 holes, except for the final which was over 36 holes. The winner received £100 out of a total prize fund of £200. James Braid defeated Ted Ray 4 & 3 in the final to win the tournament.

The 1912 News of the World Match Play was the tenth News of the World Match Play tournament. It was played from Wednesday 2 to Friday 4 October at Sunningdale Golf Club. 32 players competed in a straight knock-out competition, with each match contested over 18 holes, except for the final which was over 36 holes. The winner received £100 out of a total prize fund of £400. Harry Vardon defeated Ted Ray by 1 hole in the final to win the tournament.

The 1910 News of the World Match Play was the eighth News of the World Match Play tournament. It was played from Tuesday 4 to Thursday 6 October at Sunningdale Golf Club. 32 players competed in a straight knock-out competition, with each match contested over 18 holes, except for the final which was over 36 holes. The winner received £100 out of a total prize fund of £240. James Sherlock defeated George Duncan 8 & 6 in the final to win the tournament.

Sunningdale Barrow is the site of three Bronze Age round barrows, including one bowl barrow near Sunningdale railway station, Sunningdale (grid reference SU952664), now in Berkshire but formerly in Surrey. Excavations on one barrow located cremations, mainly inurned.

Bromhall Priory was a nunnery of Benedictine nuns at Sunningdale in the English county of Berkshire. It was established in 1200 and when dissolved in 1524. An inquisition was held in 1522 into the lands of Bromhall Priory, where the prioress had resigned in September 1521 and left with two other nuns in December. The inquisition gave no explanation for the prioress's departure, but in 1524 Clement VII issued a bull suppressing the house, on account of the demerits of the nuns. It was described as a 'profane place' and the property was transferred by the Crown to St John's College, Cambridge.

Sunningdale railway station serves the village of Sunningdale in Berkshire, England. It is 26 miles 71 chains (43.3 km) down the line from London Waterloo.
