Midlothian in Scotland is a county constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first-past-the-post voting system. It replaced Midlothian and Peeblesshire at the 1955 general election. A similar constituency, also called Midlothian, was used by the Scottish Parliament until 2011.

Temple (Scottish Gaelic: Baile nan Trodach) is a village and civil parish in Midlothian, Scotland. Situated to the south of Edinburgh, the village lies on the east bank of the river South Esk. The civil parish has a population of 225 (in 2011).

Carrington is a small, rural village in Midlothian, Scotland. It is located to the south of Bonnyrigg. The civil parish of the same name has a population of 316 (in 2011).

Gladhouse Reservoir, formerly known as Moorfoot Loch, is a reservoir in Midlothian, Scotland, five miles (8 km) south of Penicuik. It is the most southerly reservoir in Midlothian, as well as being the largest area of freshwater in the Lothians. It is used to supply Edinburgh with drinking water.

Arniston House is a historic house in Midlothian, Scotland, near the village of Temple. This Georgian mansion was designed by William Adam in 1726 for Robert Dundas, of Arniston, the elder, the Lord President of the Court of Session. The western third of the house was added by John Adam, son of William and brother of Robert Adam, in 1753.

Rosewell is a former mining village in Midlothian, Scotland, east of Roslin and south-west of Bonnyrigg. The village is in the civil parish of Lasswade and was previously a separate ecclesiastical parish, but has its own Community Council, namely Rosewell and District.The population of the village is 1,566 (in 2011).

Whitehill Welfare Football Club is a football club based in the village of Rosewell, Midlothian, Scotland. They are members of the East of Scotland Football League and play their home matches at Ferguson Park. The club was founded in 1953 and initially competed in juvenile football before turning senior and joining the East of Scotland Football League in 1979. They are the most successful side in East of Scotland League history, winning a total of 16 titles prior to joining the Lowland League as one of its founder members in 2013.

Rosewell and Hawthornden railway station served the village of Rosewell, Midlothian, Scotland from 1855 to 1962 on the Peebles Railway.

Gorton is a locality, in the parish of Lasswade, in Midlothian, Scotland. The locality is the location of Old Gorton House, a 17th century dwelling. A series of caves exist nearby and have carvings inside. The caves also appear to have been used during the Wars of Scottish Independence, with one known as Wallace’s Cave. William St. Clair of Roslin acquired the Knights Templar lands of Gourton from Walter fitz Stephen de Meliville in the 13th century. The Lizar family were lords of Gorton in the 12th century.

Rosslynlee railway station served the village of Roslin, Midlothian, Scotland from 1855 to 1962 on the Peebles Railway.

Hawthornden Castle is located on the River North Esk in Midlothian, Scotland. The castle lies a mile to the east of Roslin at grid reference NT287637, and is just downstream from Roslin Castle. Hawthornden comprises a 15th-century ruin, with a 17th-century L-plan house attached. The house has been restored and now serves as a writer's retreat. Man-made caves in the rock beneath the castle have been in use for much longer than the castle itself.

Wallace's Cave is situated in Roslin Glen, in Midlothian, Scotland. It is also known as Hawthornden Castle Cave, after Hawthornden Castle which is nearby. It takes its name from William Wallace, the Scottish national hero, who participated in the Battle of Roslin, which took place close to the cave on 24 February 1303.
