Tyro, Virginia

Tyro Mill is a historic grist mill located at Tyro, Nelson County, Virginia. It is a multi-story frame mill built in 1846–47 with an addition made in the late nineteenth century. It has a metal-sheathed gable roof and a stone foundation. There is an overshot metal wheel in a stone wheel well and remnants of the head race. The mill contains original machinery including wood gears and drive shafts, two runs of millstones, and a husk frame in the basement gear pit. Also on the property is a mid-19th century log dwelling—traditionally identified as the miller's house—with twentieth century frame additions and front porch.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

Lesesne State Forest is a Virginia state forest located in Nelson County. Its 422 acres (1.71 km2) are dedicated to the preservation of the American chestnut and to wildlife management activities. It is open to the public during daylight hours.

Three Ridges Wilderness is a U.S. Wilderness Area in the Glenwood/Pedlar Ranger District of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests. The wilderness area is located just east of the Blue Ridge Parkway between the Tye River and Wintergreen Ski Resort. It is separated from the boundary of the Priest Wilderness by Virginia State Route 56. The wilderness consists of 4,702 acres (19.03 km2) and ranges in elevation from 1,000 feet (305 m) at the Tye River to 3,970 feet (1,210 m) at the summit of Three Ridges Mountain.

It was among the communities severely affected by flash flooding from Hurricane Camille in 1969.The Bryant family remains strong in Bryant Va. Love is an unincorporated community in Augusta County, Virginia, United States. Love is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway, within the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests. At the beginning of the 20th century the area was home to over 1000 people who farmed the surrounding mountains & hollows. Situated on the natural route between the Tye River Valley and the Shenandoah Valley, Love had a general store, post office, church and blacksmith. Love was a remote outpost until the Blue Ridge Parkway was constructed in 1936. The parkway changed mountain life and people moved away from homesteading and subsistence farming. The historic Mountain Top church and small cemetery remain. Love Ridge Mountain Lodging, located on the ridge above Love, offers cabins and vacation rentals open year round and shares a border with the Blue Ridge Parkway. Love Ridge was initially conceived of as the Meadow Mountain Campground in the 1950s. The cabins and houses were built in the 1990s and early 2000s and attract visitors drawn to the beautiful scenery and peaceful mountain setting.

Riverside Farm is a historic farm complex in rural western Nelson County, Virginia. It is located on the south side of Patrick Henry Highway (Virginia State Route 151) west of Roseland, on the western shore of the Tye River. Set on 295 acres (119 ha), it has a history dating to the early-to-mid 19th century, with the main farm complex set near the center of rolling fields. The main house is an 1841 late Federal period wood-frame house, and it is surrounded by a variety of domestic and agricultural outbuildings, including an ice house, poultry house, and smokehouse, all from the 1840s. Near the road stands a secondary complex that includes a mid-19th century tenant house. Development on the farm apparently began between 1831 and 1835 by James D. Goodwin.The farm was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.
