Upton Town Hall

Upton is a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. It was first settled in 1728. The population was given as exactly 8,000 at the 2020 census.

The Upton Center Historic District encompasses the historic center of the town of Upton, Massachusetts. Its main focus is Central Square, located near a complex series of junctions involving Main, North Main, Milford, Grove, Church, and Warren Streets. This area, the site of the town green, was where its first meetinghouse was built, and is still the center of civic and religious life in the community. Notable buildings include the 1884 Town Hall, and three churches (Congregational, Roman Catholic, and Methodist), all dating to the mid-19th century. The district also includes a residential area to the south of Central Square.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

Upton is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Upton in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 3,013 at the 2010 census, out of 7,542 in the entire town. The CDP includes the villages of Upton and West Upton.

Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School, or BVT for short, is a technical high school in Upton, Massachusetts, serving the thirteen towns of the Blackstone Valley. The school was established in 1964. The school offers eighteen technical programs that students can enroll in to learn more about that trade. The original school colors were purple and gold.

Nipmuc Regional High School is a public high school in Upton, Massachusetts, United States, part of the Mendon-Upton Regional School District. Nipmuc Regional High School is located on a fifty-acre wooded lot in Upton, Massachusetts, in the Blackstone Valley region of the state. It serves the towns of Mendon and Upton through a cooperative arrangement established in 1961. In addition to Nipmuc Regional, there are three other schools in the Mendon-Upton Regional School District: Miscoe Hill Middle School, Clough Elementary School (Mendon,) and Memorial Elementary School (Upton.) The year-round population of the two towns is respectively 5,876 and 7,640.

The Knowlton Hat Factory is a historic factory building in Upton, Massachusetts. In 1835 William Knowlton and William Legg formed a business partnership that spawned the creation of the hat factory. In 1845 William Legg retired, and was replaced by Joseph F. Farnum who was in a partnership with Knowlton for a short time. When he retired the business was carried on by Knowlton until his sons became of age. This is when the business was named "William Knowlton and Sons." The factory was expanded in 1872 with the addition of a tower and later an office. This date is in cement over the front door. By this time the factory had become the biggest women's hat factory in the world. Other buildings were added through the years, most notably a large addition of a wing in the rear of the shop in 1908. In 1925 the shop was bought by the Merrimack Hat Company, makers of wool and fur hats, who continued operation until 1952 when the shop was sold to Charles Kartiganer. Shortly following Kartiganer's takeover he sold the business to Lish Industries, where in 1972 it again changed hands and was bought by Millhaus Trust.The factory building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It was renovated by Healy and Brown Architectural Firm and converted into senior housing in 1985. The development is now owned by the Harbor Development Corp. in Swampscott, Massachusetts.

Upton State Forest is a publicly owned forest with recreational features primarily located in the town of Upton, Massachusetts, with smaller sections in the towns of Hopkinton and Westborough. The state forest encompasses nearly 2,800 acres (1,100 ha) of publicly accessible lands and includes the last remaining Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp in Massachusetts, built in Rustic style. The CCC campground was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

The North Avenue Rural Historic District is a rural historic district in northern Mendon, Massachusetts. It covers 345 acres (140 ha), and extends predominantly along North Street, between Esty Road and Powers Road, and eastward along Hopedale Street and Trask Road. The area has been a rural agricultural area since the early days of Mendon's history in the 17th century. The present landscape retains boundaries and land-use patterns that were established in the 18th and 19th centuries, although some features (generally within individual farms) have been lost or obscured to accommodate modern farming practices. The architecture of the area is predominantly 19th century; the oldest building in the district appears to be the Federal style house of the Seth Davenport Farm at 133 North Avenue, built c. 1780.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

Whitehall State Park is a Massachusetts state park located in the town of Hopkinton and managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation. The park was created in 1947 when the Whitehall Reservoir was removed from service as a water source for the Greater Boston area.

The Azariah Newton House is an historic house at 44 Silver Hill Road in Milford, Massachusetts. It is a 1+1⁄2-story wood-frame Cape style house, with a side-gable roof, clapboard siding, and large central chimney. The interior has retained substantial interior finishing, including floors, fireplaces, and room layout. The house was built in 1747 by Azariah Newton, one of the area's early settlers, and is one of Milford's oldest houses.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

The Rockdale Common Housing District is a historic district at 4–20 McBride, 46–58 Plantation, and 37–42 Taft Sts. in Northbridge, Massachusetts, United States. The district is composed of a collection of tenement houses built from c. 1880 to 1920. They were built by members of the Whitin family, who owned most of the textile production capacity in Northbridge. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Northbridge is a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 16,335 at the 2020 census. The Northbridge Town Hall is located at 7 Main Street in Whitinsville. The town is now a part of the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor, of the National Park Service. Northbridge claims to history include: Native American Nipmuc lands, Colonel John Spring, who led the Uxbridge militia training company in the American Revolution, Samuel Spring, Revolutionary War Chaplain, the Residence of Ezra T. Benson 1830–1832, the birthplace of President Millard Fillmore's mother, Phoebe, and home to the Whitin Machine Works from 1831 to 1964.
