Reed and Barton Complex

Union Congregational Church is an historic Congregational church at 265 West Brittania Street in Taunton, Massachusetts. The church was built in 1872-73 on land donated by the owner of the Whittenton Mills, and is a nearly unaltered example of Stick/Eastlake style architecture. The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Thomas Nichols Three Deckers are three historic three deckers located at 68, 80 and 88 West Britannia Street in Taunton, Massachusetts. The once-identical buildings were built in 1914 by Thomas Nichols, a real estate speculator. Two of the three (numbers 68 and 80) were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 for their external architecture and rarity of form in the city; #68 has since been compromised by alterations.

The W.C. Beattie House is a historic house located at 289 West Brittania Street in Taunton, Massachusetts.

The Calvin T. Macomber House is a historic house located at 312 W. Brittania Street in Taunton, Massachusetts. It was built in 1885 for Calvin T. Macomber, who was employed at Reed & Barton. It among the most complex examples of the Queen Anne style houses in the city, with an asymmetrical plan and a variety of architectural details. It has a steep hip roof, which is broken up by tall chimneys, projecting sections, and gabled dormers. Second floor windows have trim decorated with floral motifs.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Whittenton Fire and Police Station is a historic fire station and police station located on Bay Street in Taunton, Massachusetts. Built in 1888, it is one two surviving 19th-century Queen Anne-style fire stations in the city. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Taunton State Hospital is a psychiatric hospital located on Hodges Avenue in Taunton, Massachusetts. Established in 1854, it was originally known as the State Lunatic Hospital at Taunton. It was the second state asylum in Massachusetts. Most of the original part of the facility was built in a unique and rare neo-classical style designed by architects Boyden & Ball. It is also a Kirkbride Plan hospital and is located on a large 154-acre (62 ha) farm along the Mill River.The complex was expanded at various times to include over forty buildings and structures. The main part of the hospital (known as "the Kirkbride Building") closed in 1975, and the buildings fell into disrepair. In 1994, the property was added to the National Register of Historic Places as a historic district. In 1999, the main dome of the administration building collapsed. In 2006, a large part of the historic complex was destroyed by fire. In 2009, the remaining parts were demolished. However, many of the newer buildings on the campus remain.

The Leonard School is a historic school building at 356 West Britannia Street in Taunton, Massachusetts. It is a two-story brick structure, with a hip roof and a projecting front section that is topped by a truncated tower. A large gable in front of this tower is filled by a large half-round window. An enclosed gable-roof porch shelters the main entrance. Built in 1888 in the Italianate style, it is one of several local schools designed by Gustavus L. Smith. It is named after the locally prominent Leonard family, who were leaders in the city's industrial development. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. It closed in 2009.

The Hopewell Mills District is a historic district on Bay Street and Albro Avenue in Taunton, Massachusetts. The site is associated with the Hopewell Mills, one of the earliest textile mills in the city, established in 1818 (mill now demolished). The historic district contains a number of early 19th century brick mill worker tenement homes and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The James Leonard House is a historic house at 3 Warren Street in Taunton, Massachusetts. It is a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house, five bays wide, with a side-gable roof, large central chimney, and wood shingle siding. The doors and windows have simple trim, those on the second floor abutting the eave. The house was built circa 1752 for James Leonard, muster master for Bristol County. during the American Revolutionary War, and descendant of the James Leonard who established the Taunton Iron Works in 1652. The house is characteristic of large farmhouses built in the region during the 18th century, and is one of the oldest on Warren Street.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Whittenton Mills Complex is a historic textile mill site located on Whittenton Street in Taunton, Massachusetts, on the banks of the Mill River. The site has been used for industrial purposes since 1670, when James Leonard built an iron forge on the west bank of the river. The first textile mill was built in 1805 and expanded throughout the 19th century. The complex was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, and now contains various small businesses. In October 2005, the site gained national attention when the mill's 1832 wooden dam threatened to collapse after heavy rains. More than 2,000 people were evacuated for several days while officials and work crews could shore up the dam with boulders. As of 2012, there is an effort underway to have the dam removed entirely, and allow for restoration of the river bed.In 2008, scenes from the Martin Scorsese film Shutter Island, portraying the Dachau concentration camp were filmed here.

The Hopewell School is a historic school building located on Monroe Street in Taunton, Massachusetts. It was built in 1914, and designed by the Boston firm of Kilham & Hopkins in the Renaissance Revival style. The school replaced a previous school of the same name located around the corner on Bay Street in the Whittenton section of the city.The school is a three-story brick building, with terra cotta and stone trim elements. It has projecting end bays, with its entrance in a central section that projects only slightly. The entrance is trimmed in terra cotta, while windows have limestone trim, with those on the second floor sporting keystone lintels. The building is capped by a limestone cornice, above which stands a brick parapet. Some of its windows have been filled in with brick. The building was constructed utilizing the most up-to-date fireproof construction methods and materials known at the time, by the Boston engineering firm of Richardson & Hale. The bricks were locally sourced from Taunton brick yards.The school was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, for its architectural significance as a fine example of Renaissance Revival architecture, and for its role in the development of the city's public education systems, reflecting changing trends in educational architecture.

North Taunton Baptist Church is a historic Baptist church located at 1940 Bay Street in Taunton, Massachusetts. The small Federal era church was constructed in 1837, in what was a still very rural part of Taunton containing mostly farmland.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
