Peninsula is located in the middle of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The Boston Mills/Brandywine Ski Resorts are located near Peninsula. The community is a known for being a speed trap.

The Valley Railway Historic District is a historic district partially located in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, extending from Independence to Akron, Ohio. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park is an American national park that preserves and reclaims the rural landscape along the Cuyahoga River between Akron and Cleveland in Northeast Ohio. The 32,572-acre (50.9 sq mi; 131.8 km2) park is administered by the National Park Service, but within its boundaries are areas independently managed as county parks or as public or private businesses. Cuyahoga Valley was originally designated as a National Recreation Area in 1974, then redesignated as a national park 26 years later in 2000, and remains the only national park that originated as a national recreation area. Cuyahoga Valley is the only national park in the state of Ohio and one of three in the Great Lakes Basin, with Isle Royale National Park in Lake Superior and Indiana Dunes National Park bordering Lake Michigan. Cuyahoga Valley also differs from the other national parks in America in that it is adjacent to two large urban areas and it includes a dense road network, small towns, four reservations of the Cleveland Metroparks, eleven parks of the Summit Metro Parks, and public and private attractions. It was the ninth-most visited American national park in 2022, attracting more than 2.9 million visitors and placing it ahead of Glacier National Park.

Peninsula Depot is a Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad train station in Peninsula, Ohio. It is located adjacent to Mill Road near Streetsboro Road (Ohio State Route 303) in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

The Boston Land and Manufacturing Company Store, also known as the Jim Brown Tavern, is a historic building at 1556 Boston Mills Road in Boston, Ohio. The store was built in 1835 for the Boston Land and Manufacturing Company, which used it as a general store and post office until 1904. The building's design includes elements of the Federal and Greek Revival styles. It features a gable front with a fanlight, a wraparound front porch, and Ionic pilasters. In 1905, the store was converted to a private house. It is currently a park store for Cuyahoga Valley National Park and a trailhead on the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 11, 1979. Its nomination misidentified the building as the Jim Brown Tavern, an earlier building built nearby which is no longer standing. The building was also included in the Boston Mills Historic District, which corrected the earlier mistake during its nomination process.

The Boston Mills Historic District is a historic district in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Northeast Ohio in the United States. With the opening of the Ohio and Erie Canal in 1827, people began to settle in this vicinity. By 1842, there was a water-powered mill, a large warehouse, a boat-yard, two stores and a hotel, and the population was around 300. A number of houses and other buildings dating back to that period remain. With the decrease in boat traffic on the canal the village declined somewhat, but its fortunes revived with the construction of the railway in 1880 and the arrival of the Cleveland—Akron Bag Company in 1900. This industry drew in many Polish immigrant workers, and housing and commercial premises were built. Many of these buildings remain today, intermingled with the older properties.

Boston Mills/Brandywine Ski Resorts are a pair of sister ski resorts in Peninsula, Northeast Ohio. Established in 1963 independently, the resorts are currently owned by EPR Properties and operated by Vail Resorts. Combined, the resorts contain 18 trails and 11 chairlifts. The Boston Mills Resort features Ohio's steepest slope, and the Brandywine Resort is home to Ohio's largest tubing park. Boston Mills/Brandywine has also been involved in several lawsuits.

Everett is an unincorporated community in Summit County, in the U.S. state of Ohio.

Everett Historic District is a rural village located within Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It is registered on the National Register of Historic Places. Everett is unique for being uncompromised by the pressures of suburban development. It represents a typical unincorporated hamlet of the turn of the 20th century rural America. The historic district comprises the village buildings, dating from the 1880s to the 1930s, along with their outbuildings (a varied collection of outhouses, garages, chicken coops, barns, and a milk house. Everett formed due to the existence of Johnny Cake Lock on the Ohio and Erie Canal. The settlement was renamed Unionville, and still later Everett in honor of Sylvester T. Everett, the Valley Railway's vice president and treasurer.The district overlaps part of the Everett Knoll Complex, an archeological district associated with the prehistoric Hopewell culture. This area was also used by the Civilian Conservation Corp for a nursery that played a key role in the development of the state and metropolitan parks in the area.
