Weser Tower

Bremen Neustadt (German: Bahnhof Bremen Neustadt) is a railway station located in Bremen, Germany. The station is located on the Oldenburg–Bremen railway. The train services are operated by NordWestBahn. The station has been part of the Bremen S-Bahn since December 2010.

Bremen (Low German also: Breem or Bräm), officially the City Municipality of Bremen (German: Stadtgemeinde Bremen, IPA: [ˈʃtatɡəˌmaɪndə ˈbʁeːmən] ), is the capital of the German state Free Hanseatic City of Bremen (Freie Hansestadt Bremen), a two-city-state consisting of the cities of Bremen and Bremerhaven. With about 570,000 inhabitants, the Hanseatic city is the 11th largest city of Germany and the second largest city in Northern Germany after Hamburg. Bremen is the largest city on the River Weser, the longest river flowing entirely in Germany, lying some 60 km (37 mi) upstream from its mouth into the North Sea, and is surrounded by the state of Lower Saxony. A commercial and industrial city, Bremen is, together with Oldenburg and Bremerhaven, part of the Bremen/Oldenburg Metropolitan Region, with 2.5 million people. Bremen is contiguous with the Lower Saxon towns of Delmenhorst, Stuhr, Achim, Weyhe, Schwanewede and Lilienthal. There is an exclave of Bremen in Bremerhaven, the "Citybremian Overseas Port Area Bremerhaven" (Stadtbremisches Überseehafengebiet Bremerhaven). Bremen is the fourth largest city in the Low German dialect area after Hamburg, Dortmund and Essen. Bremen's port, together with the port of Bremerhaven at the mouth of the Weser, is the second largest port in Germany after the Port of Hamburg. The airport of Bremen (Flughafen Bremen "Hans Koschnick") lies in the southern borough of Neustadt-Neuenland and is Germany's 12th busiest airport. Bremen is a major cultural and economic hub of Northern Germany. The city is home to dozens of historical galleries and museums, ranging from historical sculptures to major art museums, such as the Bremen Overseas Museum (Übersee-Museum Bremen). The Bremen City Hall and the Bremen Roland are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Bremen is well known through the Brothers Grimm's fairy tale "Town Musicians of Bremen" (Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten), and there is a statue dedicated to it in front of the city hall. Bremen has a reputation as a working-class city. The city is home to many multinationals and manufacturing companies headquartered in Bremen include Hachez chocolate and Vector Foiltec. Bundesliga club SV Werder Bremen play in the Weserstadion on the bank of the Weser.

Bremen-Walle Telecommunication Tower (official designation of Bremen TV tower), which is not accessible for the public, is, like the telecommunication tower at Münster and the Friedrich-Clemens-Gerke Tower in Cuxhaven, a reproduction of the telecommunication tower Kiel. It is 235.70 meters high. The diameter of the operating pulpit, which is 108.20 meters above ground, is 40 meters. The telecommunication tower is located in the Bremen quarter Walle at the Utbremer road, about 2.5 kilometers northwest from the city center (market place with city hall, pc. Petri cathedral, Roland and the city musicians of Bremen). All FM-radio and TV programs of radio Bremen in Bremen are transmitted today from this tower. A 70 cm amateur radio relay, DB0OZ, with an expenditure frequency of 438.825 MHz, is also on the tower. In 2000, installing a restaurant in the operating pulpit was considered, but these plans were once again rejected.

The Teerhof is a peninsula between the River Weser and the Kleine Weser, opposite the city centre of Bremen, Germany. It was first mentioned in 1624 as "Theerhof" when it was the northernmost part of an island. Today it consists mainly of residential buildings and the Weserburg modern art museum.

The Weserburg is a modern art museum in Bremen, Germany. Opened in 1991, it is located on the Teerhof peninsula next to the River Weser in an old factory building which was almost completely destroyed in the Second World War. Originally known as "New Museum Weserburg Bremen" (Neues Museum Weserburg Bremen), it was Europe's first "collectors' museum", in that it conserves no permanent collection but mounts changing exhibition of private collections. It is one of the largest modern art museum spaces in Germany.

The Suding & Soeken building (German: Kontorhaus Suding und Soeken) is a gabled house at No. 28 Langenstraße in Bremen, Germany. Referred to as a Kaufmannshaus or Kontorhaus, it is one of the city's few historic merchant houses to survive the war undamaged. It is noted for its projecting Renaissance bay window and its two-tiered Baroque stairway ascending from the hallway.

The Schlachte is a promenade along the east bank of the River Weser in the old town of Bremen in the north of Germany. Once one of the city's harbours, it is now popular for its restaurants, beer gardens and river boats.

St. Ansgarii Church was a medieval Brick Gothic church in Bremen. The 97-meter-high tower was the tallest landmark of the city for centuries. The church was the starting point of the Reformation in Bremen. The building was severely damaged during World War II and the ruin was demolished in the 1950s. A new church building under the same name was constructed outside of the old city.

The Schlachte Cranes were important to the port of Bremen as they enabled heavy loads to be moved off boats on the River Weser. The Schlachte became an important harbour for the city after silting prevented the use of the Balge as a harbour. Today, only the foundations of a 19th-century crane remain on the Weser waterfront.

Die Küste (English: The Coast) was the former entertainment district at the Port of Bremen in Bremen, Germany. Die Küste evolved at the exit of the free port (Überseestadt) on the Nordstraße. It was linked to the Walle district by a foot tunnel, the Stinkbüdelmannsgang. The area was also known as the Küstenmeile (Coast mile) and Klein-St. Pauli, drawing similarities to the Hamburg red-light district of St. Pauli. Today there are still a few bars still in existence dating from the days of Die Küste.

Missler concentration camp, also known as KZ Mißler in German, was an early concentration camp operating in Nazi Germany. The concentration camp was set up at the end of March 1933. Under orders of SS-Hauptsturmführer Otto Löblich, 148 prisoners, of which most were persecuted communists, were to be held in "protective custody". Later on the occupancy of the camp was raised to 300. The camp was located in a residential area in Bremen, which made it nearly impossible to shut out spectators, thus the police senator decided to dissolve the camp in July 1933. It wasn't until September 1933 that all the prisoners had been transferred to another camp. The Missler concentration camp was destroyed during World War II and all that's left of it are two plaques which remind of the concentration camp.

The St. Martin's Church (German: St. Martini) is a Protestant Lutheran and Reformed church in the old town of Bremen. It is located near the Weser river and is one of the oldest churches in the city.
