Rembrandt House Museum

The Amsterdam Subversive Center for Information Interchange (ASCII) was a squatted communication laboratory in the Dutch city of Amsterdam. The first incarnation was formed in 1999, based at Herengracht 243a. The lab then moved to the following locations: Jodenbreestraat 24, Kinkerstraat 92-94, Kostverlorenkade 2e, Wibautstraat 7 and Javastraat.ASCII became legalised when it moved into Jodenbreestraat 24 in January 2000, alongside the radical bookshop Fort van Sjakoo, but started squatting again when faced with a 900% rent increase.The original aim was to provide a free internet work space for activists and squatters and to promote Open Source operating systems such as Linux and free software programs such as OpenOffice.org and Mozilla. Members of the collective scavenged and rebuilt computers from trash. In 2005, ASCII was involved with a plan to set up free community wireless internet access across Amsterdam. In 2006, Javastraat was evicted and the group declared a shift towards being a hacklab rather than having a physical space.

The Academy of Theatre and Dance is a faculty of the Amsterdam University of the Arts which was known as de Theaterschool until September 2016. It runs four year Bachelor's degree courses in theatre and dance, and two year Master's degree courses offered by DAS Graduate School. The staff of instructors and guest instructors amounts to about sixty persons, nearly all also in active in the theatrical and dance field.

Euronext Amsterdam is a stock exchange based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Formerly known as the Amsterdam Stock Exchange, it merged on 22 September 2000 with the Brussels Stock Exchange and the Paris Stock Exchange to form Euronext. The registered office of Euronext, itself incorporated in the Netherlands a public limited company (naamloze vennootschap), is also located in the exchange.

290 Square Meters was a retail shop in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It offered men's and women's fashion as well as limited edition books, jewelry and scents. 290 Square Meters was best known for being the only retail location in the world where one could buy customized NikeID shoes for a number of years. It also carried a number of other unique items by Levi's, Freitag and Arc'teryx Veilance. Founded by Ido de Voos in 2001, it originally started as 90 Square meters on KNSM Island. Its new location right off Waterlooplein in a former bank vault. Both the stores original name, 90 Square Meters, and its new name, 290 Square Meters, are derived from the shop's size.In late 2012 it launched a web shop. It shut down in 2019.

The Houtgracht (Wood Canal) was a canal in Amsterdam that defined one side of Vlooyenburg island. Houtgracht and the connected Leprozengracht canal were filled in 1882 to form the Waterlooplein.

The Jodenbuurt (Dutch: Jewish neighbourhood) is a neighbourhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands. For centuries before World War II, it was the center of the Dutch Jews of Amsterdam — hence, its name (literally Jewish quarter). It is best known as the birthplace of Baruch Spinoza, the home of Rembrandt, and the Jewish ghetto of Nazi occupation of the Netherlands.

Waterlooplein (Waterloo Square) is a square in the centre of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. The square near the Amstel river is named after the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. The daily flea market on the square is popular with tourists. The Stopera city hall and opera building and the Mozes en Aäronkerk church are at Waterlooplein. Waterlooplein is a stop on the common part of Amsterdam Metro lines 51, 53, and 54. Tram line 14 and the Museumboot water taxi also stop at Waterlooplein. There is a taxi stand and parking garage. The area of Amsterdam that includes Waterlooplein is also called Groot Waterloo district.

Huis De Pinto is a former Amsterdam city mansion on the Sint Antoniesbreestraat near the Rembrandthuis. It was originally built in 1605 but is named after a leading Amsterdam family dynasty of Portuguese-Jewish merchant bankers. The founder of this dynasty was Isaack de Pinto, from Antwerp, who moved to Rotterdam in 1647 but bought the house in 1651. His son commissioned the unusual facade, and his grandson Isaac de Pinto grew up there.

The Houtkopersburgwal is a short secondary canal in Amsterdam. It is located in the east of the Amsterdam-Centrum district in the Lastage neighborhood.

The Snoekjesgracht (Pike Canal) is a small canal in Amsterdam, in the Lastage neighborhood.

The Maupoleum (1971–1994) was a building on Amsterdam's Jodenbreestraat. Built in 1971, it acquired a reputation for being unattractive before being demolished in 1994.

The Jodenbreestraat ("Jewish Broad Street") is a street in the centre of Amsterdam, which connects the Sint Antoniesluis sluice gates to the Mr. Visserplein traffic circle. North of the sluice gates, the street continues on to Nieuwmarkt square as the Sint Antoniesbreestraat. The Mozes en Aäronkerk church stands at the southern end of the street. Directly behind the Jodenbreestraat is Waterlooplein square with its daily flea market. Philosopher Baruch Spinoza was born in a house that stood on the spot where the Mozes en Aäronkerk church now stands. The painter Rembrandt lived in what is now the Rembrandthuis museum from 1639 to 1656. Across from the museum is a sculpture bearing a poem by Jacob Israël de Haan.
