Battle of Inverkeithing

Pitreavie Castle is a country house, located between Rosyth and Dunfermline in Fife, Scotland. It was built in the early 17th century, and was extensively remodelled in 1885. The house remained in private hands until 1938, when it was acquired by the Air Ministry, and became RAF Pitreavie Castle. The RAF station closed in 1996, and the building was converted into residential apartments. In 1986, the large underground cellar was still operated by the RAF as the Command and Control Centre of the then Northern Command for dispatching and coordinating all air and maritime search and rescue assets, primarily RAF aircraft over the North Sea area.

Royal Air Force Pitreavie Castle or RAF Pitreavie Castle was a station of the Royal Air Force located at Pitreavie Castle in Dunfermline and near Rosyth, Fife, Scotland. Built in the early 17th century, the castle was sold to the Air Ministry in 1938. An underground bunker was constructed and the station was used to coordinate the operations of RAF Coastal Command and the Royal Navy during the Second World War. The station was subsequently used as a UK and NATO maritime headquarters before closing in 1996. It is now in residential use.

Rosyth railway station serves the town of Rosyth in Fife, Scotland. The station is managed by ScotRail and lies on the Fife Circle Line, 14.7 miles (23.6 km) north of Edinburgh Waverley. It was opened in 1917 by the North British Railway (as Rosyth Halt) to serve the nearby naval dockyard.

Dunfermline and West Fife is a county constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It was created for the 2005 general election from all of the old Dunfermline West and parts of the old Dunfermline East constituencies. The current MP is Douglas Chapman of the Scottish National Party (SNP). The Dunfermline and West Fife by-election was held in early 2006, due to the death of the sitting MP, Rachel Squire. Willie Rennie of the Liberal Democrats was the surprise winner, by some 1,800 votes, in what was seen as a safe Labour seat. However, he lost the seat to Labour's Thomas Docherty at the 2010 general election. Chapman then won the seat in the SNP's Scottish landslide in the 2015 general election.Further to the completion of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, the seat will be subject to boundary changes which will include the small town of Dollar in Clackmannanshire. As a consequence, it will be renamed Dunfermline and Dollar, to be first contested at the next general election.

Duloch ( DOO-lokh), or Duloch Park, is a residential suburb of Dunfermline, in Fife, Scotland. The closest railway stations are Rosyth, Dunfermline Queen Margaret, Dunfermline City, Dalgety Bay and Inverkeithing. The lower price of large homes compared to homes across the Forth, as well as its proximity to the M90 motorway, has attracted many Edinburgh commuters. Local amenities include two large supermarkets (Tesco and Aldi) and a small shopping area. The nearby 'Fife Leisure Park' contains a cinema, gym, bowling alley, other leisure facilities and restaurants. Three primary schools serve the area - Masterton, Duloch and Carnegie Primaries. The campus of Duloch Primary school contains a large public library, café, gym, astro turf, several halls used for sports and community classes and Calaiswood, a special needs school. Duloch Park and Calais Muir Wood form the heart of the Duloch suburb, the latter being an ancient woodland owned by Fife Council and maintained by the Fife Coast and Countryside Trust. Duloch Park is mainly open grassland with a large pond to the north, a flooded former quarry. Its flat terrain is one reason for the large number of sustainable urban drainage system ponds in the area.

Wellwood is a small village to the north of Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. It was named after the Wellwoods who used to own coalmines in the area. It has a leisure centre and a golf course (Canmore). It is nearby the Town Loch and also is partially bordered by Queen Anne High School. It was formerly known as Hawkiesfauld. Wellwood is an old coal mining village. The coal pits in the village were active throughout the nineteenth century and into twentieth.

Abbeyview is a housing estate in the town of Dunfermline in Fife, Scotland. It is situated in the east of the town, approximately 2 miles from the town centre. Most of the streets in the area are named after Scottish rivers and islands.

Rosyth (Scottish Gaelic: Ros Fhìobh, "headland of Fife") is a town on the Firth of Forth, three miles (five kilometres) south of the centre of Dunfermline. According to the census of 2011, the town has a population of 13,440.The new town was founded as a Garden city-style suburb and naval dockyards in 1909, and was built as the coastal port of Dunfermline. Rosyth is almost contiguous with neighbouring Inverkeithing, separated only by the M90 motorway. Rosyth railway station is on the Fife Circle Line.

Inverkeithing railway station serves the town of Inverkeithing in Fife, Scotland. The station is managed by ScotRail and is on the Fife Circle Line, 13+1⁄4 miles (21.3 km) north west of Edinburgh Waverley. The station is popular with commuters travelling to Edinburgh from Fife and beyond, thanks to its location beside the M90 motorway. Immediately north of the station, the Fife Circle Line splits in two - the main line continuing along the coast via Aberdour whilst the branch heads inland towards Dunfermline. South of Inverkeithing the line continues towards Edinburgh via the Forth Bridge.

Woodmill High School is a local authority run high school in Dunfermline, Scotland. It is one of the city's four high schools. Designs were proposed for the school in 1958 and construction finished in 1960. It was built to serve the expanding estates of Abbeyview, Touch, Brucefield and Garvock. The name Woodmill comes from the former purpose of the land it was built on. It was initially a secondary school, but was upgraded to full high school status in 1968. The catchment area includes Duloch, Carnegie, Touch and Linburn.

Inverkeithing ( ; Scottish Gaelic: Inbhir Chèitinn) is a coastal town and parish in Fife, Scotland, on the Firth of Forth, 9½ miles north west of Edinburgh city centre. A town of ancient origin, Inverkeithing was given Royal burgh status during the reign of Malcolm IV in the 12th century. It was an important centre of trade during the Middle Ages, and its industrial heritage built on quarrying and ship breaking goes back to the 19th century. The town centre is now a conservation area. The town has an estimated population of 4,820 (2020), while the civil parish has a population of 8,090 (2011).Today, Inverkeithing is a busy commuter hub: its railway station is a main stop for trains on the Fife Circle Line that runs north from Edinburgh, and it is home to the Ferrytoll Park & Ride, which offers bus connections across the Forth and to the rest of Fife. Inverkeithing is a commuter town of Edinburgh. Inverkeithing lies on the Fife Coastal Path, one of Scotland's Great Trails.
