Moka District

Quartier Militaire is a village in the centre of Mauritius, found in the Moka District. It houses the region's District Council. Its quarters and suburbs include Bonne Veine, Esperance, Providence, Vuillemin.

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Medical College (SSRMC), created in 1999, is the first medical college of Mauritius, established by the Indian Ocean Medical Institute Trust (IOMIT) in Mauritius in the memory of the 'father of the nation', late Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam. Rudra Pratap Narain Singh, an educationist and a social planner from India, is the founder chairman and managing trustee of the trust.The college is in Belle Rive, near the city of Curepipe which is 15 km from the capital city of Port Louis.

Lycée des Mascareignes is a private French international school in Saint Pierre, Moka, Mauritius. It serves senior high school classes (Seconde, Première, Terminale).

La Laura-Malenga is a village in the Moka District in Mauritius. The population was 1,230 in 2000 and was estimated to be 1,336 in 2012. The village got its name "La Laura-Malenga" in 1859. The name came from a 19th-century sugar estate. Le Pouce, the third-highest mountain in Mauritius, is close to this village.

Pieter Both, sometimes referred to as Peter Botte Mountain, is the second highest mountain of Mauritius, at 820 metres (2,690 ft) tall. The mountain is slightly shorter than Piton de la Petite Rivière Noire by eight metres. It is named after Pieter Both, the first Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies. It is located in the Moka Range.The notable feature of this mountain is the gigantic rock formation at the very top of it, which resembles a human head. The palm species Hyophorbe amaricaulis, famous for being the world's rarest palm today, was once a common sight on this mountain. The first ascent of Pieter Both was by Captain Lloyd, Lieutenant Phillpotts, of the 29th Reg., Lieutenant Keppel, R.N., and Lieutenant Taylor on 7 September 1832.To climb the mountain following the main ridge takes about an hour, and is mildly difficult. It is mainly a scramble, and being exposed, a rope is advised. The dramatic boulder on the pinnacle is about nine metres in diameter, and has several iron spikes fixed to it to aid climbing to the top. The top is flat and about two metres across.

Saint Pierre is a village in the district of Moka in Mauritius.It is considered to be found in the heart of Mauritius.The climatic conditions is cold and ideal especially during summer with cold breeze. The village has significantly changed over the years with a new shopping centre, namely Kendra, gyms, driving more traffic to the village. With a growing population, Saint-Pierre is gradually starting to look like a town. The bus station is situated within walking distance to the market, the Kendra shopping centre, the mosque, but a bit further from the local primary and secondary schools, which will require travellers to stop further or to get on another connecting bus. Saint Pierre has three banks, a market, numerous shops, a primary and a secondary school, a church, a mosque, two petrol stations, a couple of gyms a big shopping centre and much more.

The Moka Range is a mountain range in Mauritius. It contains two of Mauritius's three tallest peaks, Pieter Both and Le Pouce. It was formed from a basalt lava dome ten million years ago. The Moka Range forms a semicircle around the capital of Mauritius, Port Louis.

Le Pouce (French: [lə pus]; English: "The Thumb") is the third highest mountain in Mauritius, at 812 meters (2664 feet). Only Piton de la Petite Rivière Noire (828 m) and Pieter Both (820 m) are taller. It is named Le Pouce because of the thumb-shaped peak of the mountain. It can be viewed from the capital of Mauritius, Port Louis, and is a popular hike for the view of the city. The mountain is in the Moka Range and is closest to the village of La Laura-Malenga in the Moka District. Charles Darwin ascended the mountain on 2 May 1836.

The Mahatma Gandhi Institute (commonly known as MGI), located in Moka on the island of Mauritius, is an educational institution focused of secondary, tertiary and pre-vocational education. It also promotes and facilitates research and preservation of cultural heritage and arts.

Best FM is a Hindi-language entertainment radio station in Mauritius that is owned and broadcast by the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation. The radio started operating on the 5th of October 2010 and is entirely dedicated to Bollywood music and has as slogan "Aur Kya Chahiye" (What better). The radio channel opens as its sister station Taal FM which has been rebranded to a regional radio station, broadcasting shows in 13 popular speaking languages in Mauritius.

The Open University of Mauritius (OU) is a public university in Mauritius. It offer programmes leading to undergraduate, and postgraduate degrees through open distance learning. OU's headquarters are located in Réduit, Moka. The OU was established under the Open University of Mauritius Act No. 2 of 2010, proclaimed in July 2012. Its first founder Director-General is Dr Kaviraj Sharma Sukon.The first graduation ceremony was held on 8 July 2015. The guest was the French-Mauritian Nobel Prize in Literature laureate Dr Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio. It was the first public university in Mauritius to be ISO-certified as from 7 July 2015. The University was re-certified in November 2018 from ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015.
