Barton and Walton railway station

Central Rivers TMD (also known as Barton-under-Needwood CMD) is a railway maintenance depot, located in Barton-under-Needwood, 4 miles (6 km) south-west of Burton on Trent, England. It was built by Bombardier Transportation as the central maintenance facility for the Class 220 and 221 Voyagers then being delivered to Virgin CrossCountry. It came into operation on 8 September 2001. The nearest railway station is Burton on Trent.This site was chosen due to being close to Virgin Cross Country's Birmingham hub as well as being relatively close to Derby and Crewe. The depot's facilities include inspection and working pits, hoisting facilities, train washing and refueling is designed for a planned turnaround of up to 20 serviced trains per night.The Virgin CrossCountry franchise finished in November 2007, however Central Rivers continues to maintain the Voyagers for its successor CrossCountry as well as Avanti West Coast.

The Bailey Bridge (also known as Walton Bridge) is a crossing of the River Trent at Walton-on-Trent on the border of Derbyshire and Staffordshire in England. The bridge is only one lane wide with access controlled by a tidal flow system controlled by signals at either end of the bridge. A separate footbridge is attached to the northern side of the structure.

Walton Hall is an 18th-century country house situated in the village of Walton on Trent, Derbyshire. It is a Grade II* listed building but is in slow decay and is officially registered on the Buildings At Risk Register.The Manor of Walton was owned by the Ferrers family from the 14th century until they sold it in 1680 to Richard Taylor. In 1723, William Taylor (High Sheriff of Derbyshire in 1727) replaced the old manor house with the present structure. Built in red brick, the house presents a three-storey balustraded entrance front with seven bays and four full height pilasters. The stable block attached at the rear of the house is in a similar style. In 1773, the estate passed from the last of William Taylor's sisters to her heir, Edward W Disbrowe MP. Disbrowe's grandson, Edward Cromwell Disbrowe, was born at the house in 1790. On the death of writer Charlotte Anne Albinia Disbrowe in 1918, the estate passed to her heir, Lt Col Henry Edward Disbrowe-Wise, who married Katherine Mary Levett-Prinsep, the daughter of Thomas Levett-Prinsep of nearby Croxall Hall. Lt Col Disbrowe-Wise erected the Walton on Trent village hall in 1920 in memory of his benefactress.

The first recorded match on the ground was in 1997, when the Derbyshire Second XI played the Durham Second XI in the Second XI Trophy. The ground held 2 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches in 1999. The first saw the Derbyshire Cricket Board as the home team against Shropshire and the second saw Staffordshire against the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board. The ground has held a number of Second XI Championship and Second XI Trophy matches for the Derbyshire Second XI. The ground has held a single List-A match which saw the Derbyshire Cricket Board play Wales Minor Counties in the 1999 NatWest Trophy.In local domestic cricket, Deer Park is the home ground of Dunstall Cricket Club who play in the Derbyshire Premier Cricket League.
