McDuff is an unincorporated community in Caroline County, in the U.S. state of Virginia.

Jericho School is a historic one-room school building located at Ruther Glen, Caroline County, Virginia. Madison Public School District Trustees purchased land to construct a school to educate local African American children in 1885 and soon built a log structure. The current building was built in 1917 and is a one-story, rectangular frame building with a gable roof. Between 1912 and 1924 Caroline County built or remodeled 13 two-room and 22 single room schools for African American students. This one room building is sheathed in weatherboard and has a decorative vent on the front gable end. The Jericho School served the African-American children (initially grades 1 to 7, later 1 through 4) of this area of Caroline County until 1959, when Union Elementary School was built. Caroline County sold the building at public auction in 1962. In May 2001 Historic Jericho School, Inc. was formed to save the school.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Golansville is an unincorporated community in Caroline County, in the U.S. state of Virginia. It was the site of a Quaker meetinghouse from 1739 until 1853; in 1767 members of the congregation became the first Quakers in Virginia to call for an end to slavery in the United States. Virgil Benjamin Luck (1846-1898) moved from Golansville, Virginia to Hickory Withe, Fayette County, Tennessee, where he had purchased a substantial amount of farm land.

Sharp's Oakland is a historic home located at Doswell, Hanover County, Virginia. It was built about 1890, and is a three-story, I-house frame dwelling in the Second Empire style. It features a high mansard roof still covered with patterned wooden shingles and a simple porch with Eastlake posts. Also on the property is a contributing slave quarter with a massive chimney.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

The population as of the 2010 Census was 2,260.It is a gated lakeside subdivision located about 2 miles (3 km) south of Ladysmith and 10 miles (16 km) north of Doswell. The CDP is bordered by U.S. Route 1 on the east, Cedar Fork Road on the south, and State Route 683 on the north.

The community contains attractions such as the Pendleton Golf Club, which is addressed as being in Ruther Glen.

The State Fair of Virginia is a state fair held annually at the end of September at The Meadow Event Park in Doswell, Virginia. Through 2008, the fair was held at the Richmond Raceway Complex, located in eastern Henrico County, just outside the capital city of Richmond. It is owned by the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation.The Fair has offered rides, carnival games, concerts, and typical fair foods such as cotton candy and funnel cakes as well as Virginia's favorites barbecue chicken and peanuts. The Fair has also offered technological, agricultural, historical, and livestock exhibitions and competitions, including pig races. Several of the competitions offered scholarships to students that competed. Entertainment includes log-rolling, snake handling, magicians, pig races, chain sawing, and stilt-walking. Vendors sell clothing, belt buckles, and other items with novelty designs The expositions have included: "Virginia World" which highlighted Virginia agricultural products, the better living center which hosted the arts & craft competition displays, the technology expo which highlighted Virginia technology industry, and "Young McDonald's Farm" which displayed a variety of young animals for the urban visitor to see. Additionally, one section of the Fair has included a "Heritage Village" which displayed Native American, African American, and Euro-American history in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Dominator is a floorless roller coaster located at Kings Dominion amusement park in Doswell, Virginia. Built by Bolliger & Mabillard, it originally opened in 2000 as Batman: Knight Flight at Six Flags Ohio (later renamed to Six Flags Worlds of Adventure in 2001), in Aurora, Ohio. It was given its current name when Cedar Fair purchased the Ohio park in 2004. However, following Six Flags Ohio (renamed back to Geauga Lake by Cedar Fair)’s eventual permanent closure in 2007, the coaster was relocated to Kings Dominion, where it soon opened on May 24, 2008. Dominator is located fairly close to the park’s main entry plaza, in the area known as International Street. Dominator is the world's longest floorless coaster, at 4,210 feet (1,280 m), and it has one of the tallest vertical loops in the world at 135 ft (41 m).
