Fanahammeren

Fana Church (Norwegian: Fana Kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in Fanahammeren, a village in the borough of Fana in the city of Bergen. It is one of the two churches for the Fana parish which is part of the Fana prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The gray, stone church was built in a long church design in the year 1153 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 450 people. The existing stone building celebrated its 850-year anniversary in 2003, but the church building history is long and complicated. Historians assert that the church has been rebuilt and enlarged several times.

Nordvik is a village area in Vestland county, Norway. The village lies on a municipal border, with the bulk of its area located in Bergen Municipality, but extending over the border into neighboring Bjørnafjorden Municipality. In 2008, the population of the 0.42-square-kilometre (100-acre) Nordvik urban area was 429, of which 383 people live in Bergen and 46 lived in what is now Bjørnafjorden. At that time the urban area had a population density of 1,021 inhabitants per square kilometre (2,640/sq mi). Separate statistics for the village are no longer tracked by Statistics Norway since it is now considered part of the Søvik urban area in Bjørnafjorden rather than a distinct urban area.

Fanafjorden is a fjord in the city-municipality of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The 8.5-kilometre (5.3 mi) long fjord is a fjord arm that branches off of the Korsfjorden fjord and cuts into the large Bergen Peninsula. The deepest point in the fjord reaches 160 metres (520 ft) below sea level. The fjord is located between the small Krokeide peninsula (on the south) and the village area of Milde in Ytrebygda, and forms a natural boundary between the city boroughs of Fana and Ytrebygda. The urban area of Fanahammeren lies at the eastern end of the fjord.

Lagunen Storsenter is a shopping center located in the borough Fana in Bergen, Norway. It is one of the largest shopping centres in Norway and in 2002, it was the fifth largest shopping facility in Scandinavia, with a turnover of 2,540 billion Norwegian kroner. It has more than 150 stores in 60,000 m2 (650,000 sq ft) of building space. The shopping centre was designed by architect Jan Olav Reither (1929–2003) and opened in 1985. Lagunen Storsenter is owned by Nordås Industrier AS and managed by the Olav Thon Group.

Rådal is a neighborhood in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. It is located at the border between the boroughs of Fana and Ytrebygda. The center of the area is the shopping center Lagunen Storsenter. While the area has no official borders, it is regarded as the common name for the basic statistical units of Krohnåsen in Fana and Skeie, Siljustøl, and Holten in Ytrebygda. These had 5,967 residents in 2009 and covered 5.5 square kilometres (2.1 sq mi). The post address for Rådal also includes the areas Grimstad, Steinsvik, Nordås, Skjold, and Smørås. The area features the commercial area Laguneparken, Nordahl Grieg Upper Secondary School, Rå School, Fana Stadion, Fana Golf Club, Siljustøl Museum, and the former Rådal Station on the Nesttun–Os Railway. BIR has a garbage dump at Rådal. The second stage of the Bergen Light Rail will extend the system to Rådal, probably in 2012.

Fana stadion is a multi-use stadium at Rådal in the borough of Fana in Bergen, Norway. Used for football matches, it is the home ground of Second Division team Fana IL. It also has a rubber track for track and field meets, and the stadium most notably hosted the 2004 Bergen Bislett Games. Then, a new world record in the women's 5000 metres was set by Elvan Abeylegesse. The stadium is also home to a world junior record, namely 83.87 metres by Andreas Thorkildsen in the men's javelin throw (June 2001). The venue hosted the Norwegian Athletics Championships in 1969, 1975, 1991 and 2005.

Skjold is a neighbourhood in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. Located in Fana borough, it is a mostly residential area dominated by single-family homes and apartment buildings. Skjold is located to the southwest of Nesttun and east of Sørås. The area has an elementary school, Skjold skole, and a private Steiner-Waldorf elementary/lower secondary school, Steinerskolen på Skjold. Skjold Church is located in the neighborhood. The basic statistical units of Skjold and Skjoldhøgda had a combined population of 4967 as of 1 January 2009.

The Hatlestad Slide was a slide of mud and rock which occurred in the early morning of September 14, 2005 in a rural area in Bergen, Norway, as a result of heavy rainfall. The slide killed three people, wounded seven, and displaced many more, as it hit a row of residential houses in its path while the houses' occupants were asleep. The event is notable not only for the loss of life it caused, but also for how it altered Norwegian policies on environmentalism and housing construction, as well as emergency management. In addition, the question on whether or not to end the treatment of fatally wounded Kristina Hjartåker, who was put on a ventilator until her death in February, sparked national debate, both on the case itself and on the ending of life-prolonging treatment in general.

Skjold Church (Norwegian: Skjold kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the Skjold neighborhood in the city of Bergen. It is the church for the Skjold parish which is part of the Fana prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white brick church was built in a rectangular style in 1998 using designs by the architect Peder A. Ristesund. The church seats about 500 people.

Siljustøl is a museum situated in the borough of Ytrebygda in Bergen, Norway. It was previously the home of composer and musical artist Harald Sæverud and his wife Marie Hvoslef.

Steinsvik is a grunnkrets and an area of the suburb of Ytrebygda in Bergen municipality, Norway. The area lies between Nordås, Siljustøl, Sandsli and Søreide, with the south side on Nordåsvannet, and has the most villas, but also some tower blocks. The area has 2871 inhabitants, as of 1 January 2009, and an area of 1.18 km², of which 0.03 km² is freshwater.
