Salfit governorate (Arabic: محافظة سلفيت) is one of the 16 Governorates of the State of Palestine. It is located in the northwestern West Bank, held under Israeli occupation, bordered by the governorates of Ramallah and al-Bireh to the south, Nablus to the east and Qalqilya in the north as well as, Israel to the west. Its district capital and largest city is Salfit. According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), the governorate had a population of 75,444 inhabitants in mid-year 2017. In the PCBS's census in 1997, which registered 46,671 residents, refugees accounted for 7.7% of the total population. There were 37,613 male residents and 36,143 females.

Barkan (Hebrew: בַּרְקָן) is an Israeli settlement in the northern West Bank, about 8 km west of the Palestinian city of Salfit, under the administrative local government of the Shomron Regional Council. In 2021 its population was 2,005. The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this.

Biddya (Arabic: بديا) is a Palestinian city in the Salfit Governorate, located 32 kilometers southwest of Nablus and half that distance from Salfit in the northern West Bank. According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), Biddya had a population of 10,451 in 2017. The town is governed by a municipal council of eleven members who each represent the prominent families of Biddya and select a mayor.Biddya is situated on the western ridge of the central mountain range that runs north-south in the West Bank. The historical Nablus-Jerusalem road is nearby. A maqam (shrine) for a local holy man, Sheikh Hamdan is located in the town.

Brukhin (Hebrew: ברוכין, also Bruchin) is an Israeli settlement located in the West Bank, about 1 km from the Palestinian city of Bruqin, whose lands were confiscated in order to construct Brukhin.Over 101 Orthodox Jewish families are living in Brukhin. A further 100 families are due to move in as the settlement expands (2015). In 2021 its population was 2,129. The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this.

Qarawat Bani Hassan (Arabic: قراوة بني حسان) is a Palestinian town in the Salfit Governorate of the State of Palestine, located thirty kilometers southwest of Nablus and 8 kilometers northwest of Salfit in the northern West Bank. According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the town had a population of 5,513 in 2017.Its total land area is 9,684 dunams, of which 507 dunams is built-up area. Since the 1995 Interim Agreement on the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, 10.7% of its municipal jurisdiction is under the civil administration of the Palestinian National Authority and the security of Israel, while 89.2% is under complete Israeli control.

Kiryat Netafim (Hebrew: קִרְיַת נְטָפִים, Arabic: كريات نتافيم) is an Israeli settlement in the northern West Bank. Located about 8 km west of the city Ariel, it is organised as a community settlement and falls under the jurisdiction of Shomron Regional Council. In 2021 it had a population of 991. The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this.

The Barkan Industrial Park (Hebrew: איזור התעשיה ברקן, lit. Barkan Industrial Area) is located about 25 kilometres east of Tel Aviv in the West Bank. Its offices are located at the northern entrance. The industrial park is located adjacent to the Israeli settlement Barkan and near the settlement and city of Ariel. A January 2016 report by Human Rights Watch called for companies to pull out from the West Bank since the study says that these companies, including Barkan Industrial Park, violate international law by harming the rights of the Palestinians. However, others contend that the industrial zone is a major source of employment for Palestinian workers.The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this.

Khirbet Kurkush (Arabic: خربة قرقش) is an archeological site in the State of Palestine, located in the city of Bruqin, in the Salfit Governorate in the northern West Bank.The site was inhabited mostly during the Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine periods, from which impressive remnants of structures and quarries still survive. However, there have been findings from earlier times, such as the Iron Age, as well as later ones, such as the Middle Ages. There are several nearby rock-cut tombs, some of which are lavishly decorated, that resemble similar Jewish tombs of Jerusalem during the late Second Temple period. Archeologists disagree on whether Jews, Samaritans, or pagan groups used this necropolis and other nearby similar sites in western Samaria. Nonetheless, the majority of archaeologists believe the site to be a Jewish necropolis constructed for the rural Jewish elites of the area, possibly by Jewish craftsmen who fled Jerusalem prior to its siege and destruction in 70 CE.

On the morning of 7 October 2018, a Palestinian gunman opened fire on several Israeli civilians in the Barkan Industrial Park, killing two and critically injuring another. The shooting incident was declared a "terrorist attack" by the IDF. It was the first attack in the park and the second fatal attack in the West Bank to occur in three weeks.The attacker, a 23-year-old Palestinian, had worked in the factory where the shooting took place.IDF forces conducted an intensive two-month manhunt to capture the militant who fled the scene. The IDF arrested some relatives of the assailant.

Bruqin (Arabic: إبروقين) is a Palestinian town located 13 kilometers west of Salfit in the Salfit Governorate of the State of Palestine, in the northern West Bank, adjacent to the Israeli settlement of Brukhin, which was built over lands confiscated from the Palestinian town. According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, Bruqin had a population of 4,047 in 2017. The town used to be on a camel-trading route. There is evidence of Roman rule in the city due to the presence of three ancient pools and a tomb.

Kafr ad-Dik (Arabic: كفر الديك) is a Palestinian town located 9.5 kilometers west of Salfit in the Salfit Governorate of Palestine, in the northern West Bank. According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), the town had a population of 5,551 in 2017.Approximately 70% of the families in Kafr ad-Dik are dependent on agriculture as the main source of income, while the remaining 30% work in the private and public sectors. The unemployment rate in the town is 60%.The town's total land area consists of 15,228 dunams of which 578 dunams are built-up. In the town's area, the archaeological ruins of Deir Samaan are located. The Israeli settlements of Peduel and Alei Zahav, as well as nearby Israeli outposts, are built over 1,448 dunams of Kafr ad-Dik's land. As a result of the Interim Agreement on the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian National Authority controls the civil affairs of 1,953 dunums of Kafr ad-Dik's land (Area B), while 13,275 dunams are classified as Area C, which is under full Israeli control.

Mas-ha (Arabic: مسحة) is a Palestinian village located in the Salfit Governorate in the northern West Bank, 24 kilometers southwest of Nablus. According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, it had a population of 2,370 in 2017.
