Oxted railway station

Oxted is a town and civil parish in the Tandridge district of Surrey, England, at the foot of the North Downs. It is 9 miles (14 km) south south-east of Croydon in Greater London, 8.5 miles (13.7 km) west of Sevenoaks in Kent, and 9 miles (14 km) north of East Grinstead in West Sussex. Oxted is a commuter town with a railway station, with direct train services to London and has the district council offices. Its main developed area is contiguous with the village of Limpsfield. Six intermittent headwaters of the River Eden unite in the occasional market town including its furthest source, east of Titsey Place. The Eden feeds into Kent's longest river, the Medway. Only the southern slope of the North Downs is steep and its towns and farmland form the Vale of Holmesdale, a series of headwaters across Surrey and Kent to separate rivers. The settlements of Hurst Green and Holland within the civil parish to the south, including a public house named after Oxted, are continuous but almost wholly residential areas (contiguous neighbourhoods).

All Saints Church is a Roman Catholic Parish church in Oxted, Surrey. Building work on the church started in 1913 and was delayed by World War I. Aspects of the church interior were designed by Geoffrey Webb. It is situated off Chichele Road north of the town centre, to the west of Oxted School. It is a Grade II listed building.

Oxted School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in the English town of Oxted, Surrey. It was opened in 1929 as the first mixed grammar school in Surrey and now has over 1900 pupils aged 11–18 (Years 7-13).

Godstone Rural District was a rural district in Surrey, England from 1894 to 1974, covering an area in the south-east of the county.

Tandridge is a local government district in east Surrey, England. Its council is based in Oxted, although the largest settlement is Caterham; other notable settlements include Warlingham, Godstone and Lingfield. In mid-2019, the district had an estimated population of 88,129. Tandridge borders the Borough of Reigate and Banstead to the west, the London Borough of Croydon to the north, the London Borough of Bromley to the north-east, the Sevenoaks District of Kent to the east, the Wealden District of East Sussex to the south-east, the Mid Sussex District of West Sussex to the south and the Borough of Crawley, also in West Sussex, to the south-west. The district contains parts of the North Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Weald. It also contains several woodlands and some open heathland. Elevations above sea level range from 267 m (876 ft) at Botley Hill, in the North Downs near Oxted, to 42 m (138 ft) near Edenbridge.

Hazelwood School is a private preparatory school in Limpsfield, Surrey, England. The school was established in 1890 as a boarding school for boys aged 8–13 by Ruth and Edward Baily. Baily bought the land from the Titsey Place estate as he loved the views of the Weald and the Ashdown Forest and thought the site healthy and bracing. The first cohort of 38 pupils was accommodated and taught in a purpose-built Victorian building that remains at the centre of the school today. In 1962 the school was bought by Tim Dowling and merged with his Bickley Hall School in Bromley, Kent—resulting in the double motto and double badge known today. Hazelwood School became a registered charity and was incorporated as a limited company in 1968. Girls were first admitted to the school and a pre-prep department established in 1978. Boarding continued at the school until 1999.

Hurst Green railway station is on the Oxted line in southern England and serves the Hurst Green neighbourhood of Oxted in Surrey. It is 21 miles 20 chains (21.25 miles, 34.20 km) from London Bridge. The station is managed by Southern.

Limpsfield is a village and civil parish in Surrey, England, at the foot of the North Downs close to Oxted railway station and the A25. The composer Frederick Delius and orchestral conductor Sir Thomas Beecham are buried in the village churchyard and there are 89 listed buildings.

The Anglican Church of St Peter in Limpsfield, Surrey, England dates from the 12th century. It is a Grade I listed building. It is known for the number of prominent musicians buried in the graveyard, including the composer Frederick Delius and orchestra conductor Sir Thomas Beecham.

Barrow Green Court is a Grade I listed house near Oxted, Surrey, England.The house was built in the early-17th century, with mid-18th century alterations and 20th-century extensions.Since the 1970s, the businessman Mohamed Al-Fayed has lived at Barrow Green Court.

Titsey is a rural village and a civil parish on the North Downs almost wholly within the M25 London Orbital Motorway in the Tandridge District of Surrey, England. In local government it forms the south-western part of the ward Tatsfield and Titsey and in national statistics approximates to output area E00157289. It has no railway stations however one is centred 1.5 miles (2.4 km) south-west, Oxted which also has the administrative centre of the district. Approximately half of it land is owned by a charity running the Titsey Place estate, with the remainder being a mixture of common and privately owned woodland and smallholdings.

Botley Hill is a hill in Surrey and is the highest point of the North Downs with a height of 269.6 metres (885 ft). The Prime Meridian crosses the hill.
