Mittaghorn

The Ebnefluh, also known as the Äbeni Flue and the Ebenefluh, (3,962 m) is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, located on the border between the Swiss cantons of Bern and Valais. It lies towards the eastern end of the Lauterbrunnen Wall.

The Grosshorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, located on the border between the Swiss cantons of Bern and Valais. It is situated in the middle of the Lauterbrunnen Wall.

The Rottal Hut (German: Rottalhütte) is a mountain hut of the Swiss Alpine Club, located south of Lauterbrunnen in the canton of Bern. It lies at a height of 2,755 metres above sea level, above the Rottal Glacier on the western slopes of the Jungfrau. The shortest access is from Stechelberg or Trachsellauenen.

The Lang Glacier (German: Langgletscher) is a 6.6 km (4.1 mi) long glacier (2005) situated in the Bernese Alps in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. In 1973 it had an area of 10.1 km2 (3.9 sq mi).

The Hollandia Hut (German: Hollandiahütte) is a mountain hut of the Swiss Alpine Club, located east of Blatten in the canton of Valais. The hut lies at a height of 3,240 metres above sea level, just above the Lötschenlücke, the glacier pass connecting the Lötschental from the Aletsch Glacier. All accesses to the hut involve glacier crossing. The Hollandia Hut is a starting point for the ascents of the Ebnefluh, Mittaghorn, Aletschhorn, Sattelhorn, Gletscherhorn and Anungrat.

The Gletscherhorn (3,983 m) is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, located on the border between the Swiss cantons of Bern and Valais. It forms the eastern edge of the Lauterbrunnen Wall, south of the Jungfrau.

The Lötschenlücke (el. 3153 m.) is a high mountain pass of the Bernese Alps, connecting the Lötschental to the valley of the Aletsch Glacier in the canton of Valais. Both sides of the pass are covered by glaciers: the Langgletscher on the west and the Grosser Aletschfirn on the east. The Lötschenlücke lies between the Mittaghorn on the north and the Sattelhorn on the south. The closest settlement is Fafleralp (east of Blatten) in the Lötschental. There are no settlements in the valley of the Aletsch Glacier. Above the pass, at 3,240 m, lies the Hollandia Hut of the Swiss Alpine Club.

The Sattelhorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, overlooking the Lötschenlücke in the canton of Valais. It lies west of the Aletschhorn, between the Lang Glacier and the Oberaletsch Glacier.

The Silberhorn (3,695 m) is a pyramid-shaped mountain of the Bernese Alps, to the northwest of the Jungfrau of which it is a satellite peak. A first attempt to reach the summit of the Silberhorn was made in June 1863 by M. v. Fellenberg from the Stufensteinalp on the east side of the valley of Lauterbrunnen. After 9 hours of most perilous climbing the party encountered an impracticable precipice of rock, and were forced to return. In the following month of August MM. Badeker and v. Fellenberg, with two guides of Grindelwald, and others, reached the summit from the Wengernalp. Ascending by the Guggi Glacier, they passed a night on the rocks at the foot of the Schneehorn, a buttress of the Jungfrau dividing the Guggi and Giessen Glaciers. On the following day they gained the desired summit by a long and difficult circuit under the cliffs of the Jungfrau. The still longer and equally difficult ascent of the Jungfrau was effected from this side for the first time two years later.The northwest ridge was first ascended in 1865 by the Rev. James John Hornby, Rev. Thomas Henry Philpot, with guides Christian and Ulrich Almer, Johann Bischof, and Christian Lauener. In a 1968 letter, J. R. R. Tolkien identified the Silberhorn as it appeared to him when camping near Mürren in 1911 as "the Silvertine (Celebdil) of my dreams".Near the bottom of the World Cup Lauberhorn downhill course is the Silberhornsprung, a jump with the Silberhorn visible in the background for the television audience.

The Rottalhorn (3,972 m) is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, located on the border between the Swiss cantons of Bern and Valais. It lies 600 m south of the Jungfrau, between the small valley of the Rottal and the Jungfraufirn (part of the Aletsch Glacier).

The Ulrichshorn (3,925 m) is a mountain of the Swiss Pennine Alps, overlooking Saas-Fee in the canton of Valais. It is located north of the Nadelhorn, in the Mischabel range, which lies between the Mattertal and the Saastal.

The Jungfrau (YOONG-frow, German pronunciation: [ˈjʊŋˌfʁaʊ̯] , transl. "maiden, virgin"), at 4,158 meters (13,642 ft) is one of the main summits of the Bernese Alps, located between the northern canton of Bern and the southern canton of Valais, halfway between Interlaken and Fiesch. Together with the Eiger and Mönch, the Jungfrau forms a massive wall of mountains overlooking the Bernese Oberland and the Swiss Plateau, one of the most distinctive sights of the Swiss Alps. The summit was first reached on August 3, 1811, by the Meyer brothers of Aarau and two chamois hunters from Valais. The ascent followed a long expedition over the glaciers and high passes of the Bernese Alps. It was not until 1865 that a more direct route on the northern side was opened. The construction of the Jungfrau Railway in the early 20th century, which connects Kleine Scheidegg to the Jungfraujoch, the saddle between the Mönch and the Jungfrau, made the area one of the most-visited places in the Alps. Along with the Aletsch Glacier to the south, the Jungfrau is part of the Jungfrau-Aletsch area, which was declared a World Heritage Site in 2001.
