Brough Castle is a ruined castle near Brough, Caithness. It is believed to date from the 12th to 14th centuries.

Brough is a small village (population 66) in Caithness in the North of Scotland. It is located on the B855 single-track road, the most northerly numbered road on the mainland of Great Britain, and is a few miles to the south east of Dunnet Head, the most northerly point on the British mainland, and a mile or so north of the village of Dunnet. Brough is the site of Brough Castle, a twelfth Century Norse fortress; the ruins are on the property now known as Heathcliff. Brough is the most northerly village on the British mainland. The village has a bus stop. Brough harbour, a short distance to the north of the village, now little used, faces Little Clett rock, a small islet that shelters the harbour from the north. The slipway was originally built to assist the construction and maintenance of Dunnet Head lighthouse (1831). To the south of the village lies St John's Loch, reputedly a very good brown trout loch.

Dunnet is a village in Caithness, in the Highland area of Scotland. It is within the Parish of Dunnet.

Dunnet Forest in Dunnet, Caithness, Scotland, is the most northerly community woodland on the UK mainland, and has been managed since 2003 by Dunnet Forestry Trust. The forest was planted by the Forestry Commission in the mid-1950s, and later transferred to Scottish Natural Heritage.

Dunnet Parish Church is a Church of Scotland church in Dunnet, Caithness, northern Scotland. References to St Mary's Parish Church are known from as far back as the 13th century, and there are pre-16th century gravestones in the churchyard. It undoubtedly has pre-reformation origins, and the cartographer Timothy Pont was a notable minister here in 1610.

Skarfskerry (or Scarfskerry; Scottish Gaelic: Sgarbh Sgeir) is a settlement located in the far northern county Caithness on a small peninsula northeast of Thurso off the A836 in Scotland. It is the most northerly settlement in Great Britain. The name comes from the Old Norse for "cormorants' rock". Historically, it belonged to the Parish of Dunnet, along with Brough.

Loch of Mey is a loch near the north coast of Caithness, Scotland, and one of the most northern water features of mainland Britain. It lies just to the south of Skarfskerry, and southwest of Harrow. Described as a "shallow ephemeral loch fringed by fen", due to its importance in facilitating wintering populations of whooper swan and greylag goose from Greenland and Iceland, it has formed part of the Caithness Lochs Ramsar Site since February 1998. Ornithologists of the Scottish Ornithologists Club have established a footpath and memorial hide dedicated to James MacIntyre, which was renovated in August 2005. The Burn of Horsegrow flows into the loch on its southeastern side.

Royal Air Force Castletown or more simply RAF Castletown, is a former Royal Air Force station that operated during the Second World War. Built near to Castletown in Caithness, Scotland the station opened in 1940 and closed in 1945. Initially built to provide a base for fighter cover for the Royal Navy base at Scapa Flow, it later became an air-sea rescue base as well, before closing just after the end of the war in Europe.

Dunnet Head (Scottish Gaelic: Ceann Dùnaid) is a peninsula in Caithness, on the north coast of Scotland. Dunnet Head includes the most northerly point of both mainland Scotland and the island of Great Britain.

Dunnet Head Lighthouse is an active 19th century lighthouse that stands on the 300-foot (91 m) cliff top of Easter Head on Dunnet Head. The lighthouse is 66 feet (20 m) tall and was built in 1831 by Robert Stevenson, grandfather of Robert Louis Stevenson. The lighthouse was automated in 1989, and the keepers were withdrawn. It is now checked remotely by the Northern Lighthouse Board operations centre in Edinburgh.

Harrow is a hamlet on the north coast of Caithness, Scotland. It lies just to the west of the Castle of Mey and northeast of the Loch of Mey. Harrow Harbour, also called Philips Harbour, was built in the 19th century by the Earl of Caithness for exporting the local flagstone slabs. The harbour was restored in 1978–79 by the Highland Council and is used today by a few crab and lobster fishermen. During the restoration works Alexander (Derry) Ross, who had spent several years at sea and was now working on the project, used his Stanley knife to carve images of fishing vessels in the concrete of the sea wall before it set. Originally brightly coloured these are now faded but are still visible. On completion of the works Jimmy Page carried out the official opening ceremony and a plaque commemorating this is mounted on the harbour wall.
