Romema (Haifa)

The Romema Arena (Hebrew: היכל הספורט העירוני רוממה) is a multi-purpose arena in Haifa, Israel. The arena is home to Hapoel Haifa basketball club and to Maccabi Haifa basketball club, a members of both the Hapoel Haifa and Maccabi Haifa sports clubs. The arena was and is a home to various entertainment events, conventions, and major events in other sports. The arena is owned by the municipality of Haifa, and managed by Athos Ltd. - a company also fully owned by the municipality.

The Hebrew Reali School of Haifa (Hebrew: בֵּית־הַסֵּפֶר הָרֵיאָלִי הָעִבְרִי בְחֵיפָה, romanized: Bet ha-sefer ha-Reali ha‘Ivri be-Ḥeifa), located in Haifa, Israel, is one of the country's oldest private schools.

Vardiya (Hebrew: ורדיה, also Vardia) is a neighborhood in Haifa, Israel. Established in the 1980s, Vardiya is located in the upper Carmel, between the Hadar Hacarmel and Romema. The pine forests ringing the neighborhood were once a popular site for family recreation and hiking. Several archeological sites and the ruins of stone houses several hundreds years old were discovered on the hills. The residential towers in this largely upscale neighborhood offer a panoramic view of Haifa Bay. During Operation Desert Storm, a Patriot missile site was deployed in Vardiya.

The Matza restaurant suicide bombing occurred on March 31, 2002, when a Palestinian Hamas suicide bomber detonated his bomb inside the Matza restaurant in Haifa, Israel, near the Grand Canyon shopping mall, killing 16 Israeli civilians and injuring over 40 people. Journalist Giulio Meotti described the attack as a massacre.

Highway 23, more-commonly known as the "Carmel Tunnels" (Hebrew: מנהרות הכרמל, Minharot HaCarmel), are a set of toll tunnels in Haifa, Israel. The tunnels' purpose is to reduce road congestion in the Haifa area and to provide an alternate route of reaching the eastern and central parts of the city, Haifa Bay and the Krayot area to and from Israel's central coastal plain without having to travel through traffic-congested downtown Haifa, having to drive up and across Mount Carmel, or bypassing Haifa from the east – along the edge of the Jezreel Valley (via Highway 70 for example). The tunnels cut the travel time from the Haifa South interchange in the west to the Checkpost interchange in the east from 30–50 minutes down to 6 minutes. The tunnels were built and are operated as a BOT project. They were opened to traffic on 1 December 2010.

The Grand Canyon (Hebrew: גרנד קניון, literally "Grand Mall," a play on words with the actual Grand Canyon) is the largest shopping mall in northern Israel, located in the northern city of Haifa. It features 220 stores, of which approximately 80% are chain stores. Inside the mall there is also a 4,000 m2 (43,000 sq ft) spa, and a children's amusement park which closed in April 2014.The mall opens half an hour after sun-down on Saturday out of respect for the Jewish Sabbath. However, some stores and restaurants are open on Saturdays.

The Elisha Medical Center, also called Elisha Hospital (Hebrew: בית חולים אלישע) is a private hospital in Haifa, northern Israel. The center offers its patients physicians, technology and equipment, to provide the patients medical treatment. In order to expand its services and reach a broader patient population, the hospital has collaborated with the Rambam Medical Center. The facilities include the hyperbaric oxygen treatment center and the clinic for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

The Haifa bus 37 suicide bombing was a suicide bombing carried out on 5 March 2003 on an Egged bus in Haifa, Israel. Seventeen passengers were killed in the attack and 53 were injured. Many of the victims were students from Haifa University.The Palestinian Islamist terror organization Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack. The suicide bomber was 20-year-old Mahmoud Umdan Salim Qawasmeh, a student at the Palestine Polytechnic University. An Israeli Arab resident of Haifa who helped plan the attack was also tried and sentenced to life imprisonment for his involvement.

In 1265, the army of Baibars the Mamluk captured Haifa, destroying its fortifications, which had been rebuilt by Louis IX of France, as well as the majority of the city's homes to prevent the European Crusaders from returning.

Haifa Cinematheque is a cinematheque located in Haifa at the Auditorium of Haifa in the Carmel Cente.

The Bnai Zion Medical Center was established in 1922 as the first Jewish hospital in Haifa, the center offers medical care, education, research and services to the diverse and growing population of northern Israel. In a recent survey in a national newspaper, the Bnai Zion medical center was voted the first hospital in the Haifa region of Israel.

The Haifa Theatre (Hebrew: תיאטרון חיפה; Teat'ron Kheifa) is the first municipal theater company of Haifa, Israel.
