Israel Putnam School

Putnam station is a former train station in Putnam, Connecticut. Built in 1907, it is a reminder of the importance of the railroad in the development of Putnam as a city, and is an architecturally distinctive example of Mediterranean-influenced design. The building, now in other commercial uses, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007 as Putnam Railroad Station.

The Cargill Falls Mill, also known historically as the Wilkinson Mill, is a historic textile mill complex at 52-58 Pomfret Street in Putnam, Connecticut. Founded in 1806, it is one of the state's oldest mill complexes, and it retains examples of mill architecture spanning more than 175 years. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

Putnam District is a village and census-designated place (CDP) in Windham County, Connecticut, United States. The CDP was formed when the former city of Putnam disincorporated, and it consists of the main town center of the town of Putnam along the Quinebaug River. The village is part of the Northeastern Connecticut Planning Region. The population was 7,214 at the 2010 census.

Putnam Town Hall, formerly Putnam High School, is an historic civic building at 126 Church Street in Putnam, Connecticut. Constructed in 1874, it is one of the oldest surviving high school buildings in the state, and a distinctive local example of Gothic Revival architecture. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

Day Kimball Hospital is an acute care facility located in the West End of Putnam, Connecticut. Day Kimball Hospital was established in 1894. The hospital campus is located on Pomfret St in Putnam, and is directly adjacent to the main office of the Day Kimball Healthcare building.

Putnam High School (abbreviated as PHS) is a public high school in Putnam, Connecticut, United States.

WINY (1350 AM) is a heritage radio station that transmits in AM stereo on 1350 kHz and is owned by Gary and Karen Osbrey through licensee Osbrey Broadcasting Company. It operates during the daytime with 5,000 watts of power, and at 79 watts nighttime. Its studios and transmitter are located in Putnam, Connecticut. WINY first signed on the air on May 3, 1953, under the call letters WPCT. The station was financed by three French Canadian businessmen from Central Falls, Rhode Island: named Goyette, Albert Lanthier, and Rene Cote. The station was managed by Daniel Hyland with an original announcing staff of Dick Alarie, Ed Read, and Frank Carroll. The call letters were changed to WINY in September 1960 when the station was purchased by the Herbert C. Rice family and the Winny Broadcasting Company. The call letters were changed to represent the station's new mascot, "Winny, The Community Gal", who was a counterpart to the mascot at sister station WILI, "Willie, The Community Man". The family combined the operations of the two stations into Nutmeg Broadcasting Company, which would go on to own a total of five radio stations throughout Connecticut, including WNTY in Southington, WLIS in Old Saybrook, and WILI and WILI-FM in Willimantic. WINY changed hands in 1990 to the Gerardi Broadcasting Corporation, and once more in 2001 to the current owners, the Osbrey Broadcasting Company. In addition to its original programming, WINY is also a member station of the Boston Red Sox Radio Network, the New England Patriots Radio Network, and the Motor Racing Network.

Mechanicsville is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in the southern part of the town of Thompson in Windham County, Connecticut, United States. It is bordered to the north by North Grosvenordale and to the south by Putnam. Connecticut Route 12 (Riverside Drive) runs the length of the community, along the east side of the French River. Mechanicsville was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.A portion of the Air Line State Park Trail passes through Mechanicsville, along with the Providence and Worcester Railroad.

The Hezekiah S. Ramsdell Farm was a historic farm in Thompson, Connecticut. It was located on what was once known as Ramsdell Road, but is now a hiking trail on the lands surrounding West Thompson Reservoir. The property was made famous by a standoff between the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Alice Ramsdell, the feisty owner of the property who refused to leave after USACE acquired it by eminent domain as part of a flood control project in the 1960s. The dispute, highlighted by an incident in which Mrs. Ramsdell supposedly met government officials holding a shotgun, was ended when the government acquiesced to her demand to stay on the property. The farm was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The George Pickering Nichols House is a historic house in Thompson, Connecticut. Built about 1846, it is a well-preserved example of rural Greek Revival architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

West Thompson Lake is a 200-acre lake in Thompson, Windham County, Connecticut.A dam was constructed in 1965 by the United States Army Corps of Engineers to create the lake. It impounds the Quinebaug River for flood control and seasonal storm water management. The dam is owned and operated by the Corps of Engineers.The dam is one of the six flood control structures built on the river. This network of dams helps control flooding all the way from the upstream tributaries of the Thames River to the Long Island Sound. The West Thompson Dam was constructed in 1965. It cost 6.7 million U.S. dollars.The West Thompson Lake has a total storage capacity of 342 million gallons of flood water.
