The Mexican Open (Spanish: Abierto Mexicano de Golf), also known as the Mexico Open and Abierto Mexicano de Golf, is the national open golf tournament of Mexico.

The 2002 WGC-World Cup took place 12–15 December at the Vista Vallarta Club de Golf, Nicklaus Course in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It was the 48th World Cup and the third as a World Golf Championship event. 24 countries competed and each country sent two players. The prize money totaled $3,000,000 with $1,000,000 going to the winning pair. The Japanese team of Toshimitsu Izawa and Shigeki Maruyama won. They won by two strokes stroke over the American team of Phil Mickelson and David Toms.

Operated by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, it is named after President Gustavo Díaz Ordaz. Ranked as the fifth-busiest airport in Mexico for international passenger traffic and the seventh-busiest in terms of passenger numbers and aircraft operations, it has witnessed rapid growth, becoming one of the country's fastest-growing airports. In 2021, the airport served 4.1 million passengers, and this number increased to 6.2 million in 2022, connecting travelers to 52 destinations, including 13 domestic and 39 international, and served by 24 airlines.

Marina Vallarta is a marina and planned development in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. Marina Vallarta has galleries and shops, hotels, and shopping centres, including Plaza Marina (which has the grocery store Comercial Mexicana) and Plaza Neptune at the marina's northwest end. The marina can house 350-450 boats. Restaurants in the area have included Nikki Beach, Tribu, and Victor's Place. A golf course is just north of Marina Vallarta.
