Esrum Abbey

Esbønderup is a parish and small town situated north of Lake Esrum in Gribskov Municipality, North Zealand. some 40 km (25 mi) north of Copenhagen, Denmark. As of 1 January 2023, it had a population of 1,295.

Lake Esrum (Danish: Esrum Sø, pronounced [ˈesʁɔm ˈsøˀ]) is the largest lake in Denmark by water volume and the second-largest lake by surface area, after lake Arresø. It is situated in the central part of North Zealand (the northeastern region of Zealand), straddling the boundaries of the municipalities Hillerød, Fredensborg, Helsingør and Gribskov, some 40 kilometres north of Copenhagen. The lake covers 17 km2, Its length from north to south is 8.4 km and its maximum depth is 22 m. Its principal drainage is Esrum Å, a 10-km stream which passes Esrum Watermill and the remains of Esrum Abbey on its way to the Kattegat at Dronningmølle. The western shore of the lake is dominated by Gribskov, one of Denmark's largest forests, and the small town of Nødebo. Fredensborg Palace, one of the official residences of the Danish Royal Family, with its extensive gardens, is situated on the southeast shore. Boat trips operate on the lake from Sørup, a village just south of the palace gardens.

Esrum Å is the principal drainage of Lake Esrum, Denmark's second largest lake, located in Gribskov Municipality, some 50 km north of Copenhagen, Denmark. The 10-km-long stream extends from the northwestern part of the lake and flows past Esrum Watermill and Esrum Abbey on its way to The Kattegat at Dronningmølle. Esrum Canal (Danish: Esrum Kanal) was built in about 1800 to facilitate the transportation of firewood from Gribskov to Copenhagen, offering a navigable alternative to the upper part of Rsrum Å. It remained in use until the 1870s but has now dried out.

Havreholm Slot is a hotel and conference centre located south of Hornbæk, Helsingør Municipality, some 40 km north of Copenhagen, Denmark. It was originally built as a private residence for the owner of a local paper mill. The estate covers 30 hectares of parkland and forest and borders Hornbæk Golf Course.

Dronningmølle (Danish pronunciation: [tʁʌne̝ŋˈmølə]) is a seaside resort town in Esbønderup parish, Gribskov Municipality in the Capital Region of Denmark, of eastern Denmark. Dronningmølle is located four kilometers west of Hornbæk, six kilometers east of Gilleleje and 22 kilometers north of Hillerød. The town is served by Dronningmølle Station on the Hornbæk Line. Since 2010 Dronningmølle has grown together with its neighbour Hornbæk in Helsingør Municipality to form an urban area with a combined population of 5,283 as of 2019. Hornbæk proper had a population of 3,608 with Dronningmølle having 1,675.

Skipperhuset refers to a small cluster of historic buildings including an 18th-century former royal boathouse located in Fredensborg Palace gardens on the southeastern shoreline of Lake Esrum at Fredensborg, Denmark. The buildings are now home to the Lake Esrum Boat Service and a restaurant.
