Oulton Broad North railway station

South Broads Lifeboat Station was an RNLI operated lifeboat station located on Oulton Broad in the town of Lowestoft in the English county of Suffolk. The station operated between 2001 and 2011. The station covered the southern area of The Broads network, an area of over 100 square miles (260 km2) of inland waterways including the River Waveney. The station performed 194 rescues.

Oulton Broad refers to both the lake and the suburb of Lowestoft in the English county of Suffolk. The suburb is located 2 miles (3.2 km) west of the centre of Lowestoft. It became a civil parish in 2017. It had an estimated population of 10,338 at the 2011 United Kingdom census.

Leathes Ham is a 6 hectare Local Nature Reserve in Lowestoft in Suffolk. It is owned by Waveney District Council. In the medieval period this site was turbary, an area which was dug for peat, and it later flooded and became a lake. It has a reedbed, dykes, and marshes where wildfowl breed. Flora include ragged robin and southern marsh orchid. There is access from Normanston Park.

Oulton is a civil parish on the western edge of the town of Lowestoft in the north of the English county of Suffolk. It is in the East Suffolk district. The eastern part of the parish forms part of the suburbs of Lowestoft, whilst the western section extends into The Broads national park, reaching the River Waveney and Oulton Dyke.At the 2011 United Kingdom census the parish had an estimated population of 4,020. It borders the Suffolk parishes of Blundeston, Carlton Colville, Corton, Flixton, Lowestoft and Oulton Broad and the Norfolk parish of Burgh St Peter across the River Waveney.The B1074 Lowestoft to Somerleyton road passes through the parish, as do the A117 and B1375 roads running north to the A47 road. The Lowestoft to Norwich railway line passes through the western part of the parish, running through areas of marshland near to the River Waveney. The nearest railway station is Oulton Broad North.

Gull Wing Bridge is a road bridge being built to span Lake Lothing in the town of Lowestoft, Suffolk, England, which is claimed to be (once completed) the largest rolling bascule bridge in the world lifted using hydraulic cylinders. The bridge is planned to be completed and open to traffic in early 2024. The bridge will be higher than the existing bascule bridge at the harbour mouth, and so will not need to be lifted up as often for shipping to pass underneath. The idea of a third bridge in the area was first suggested in 1918, and approval for the Lake Lothing Third Crossing was granted in 2020. It was renamed Gull Wing Bridge after a competition for names being held at local schools.

Lake Lothing is a saltwater lake located in Lowestoft in the English county of Suffolk. The lake, which is believed to be the remnant of medieval peat cutting, flows into the North Sea and forms part of the Port of Lowestoft. The area was the major industrial centre of Lowestoft with ship building and other engineering industries, much of which has now closed. The lake splits Lowestoft in two. It is bridged in the centre of town by a bascule bridge and in Oulton Broad by a vertical lift bridge and a rail swing bridge. A new lifting road bridge, Lowestoft Gull Wing, is under construction and will bridge the lake towards the middle. Mutford lock connects Lake Lothing to Oulton Broad from where access to the River Waveney and the Broads system is gained through Oulton Dyke.

Akethorpe, or Akethorp, was an English village thought to have been located in what is now part of the Suffolk town of Lowestoft. The village was described in the Domesday Book as being home to four households in the Hundred of Lothingland. It formed part of the King's holding in 1086, having been held by Aelmer the Priest in 1066.The manor of Akethorp was purchased by Magdalen College, Oxford in 1478. Earthworks though to be part of the manorial boundary have been surveyed in the area. A road in modern Lowestoft is named Akethorpe Way.

Lowestoft Cemetery (also known as Lowestoft Municipal Cemetery) is a burial ground in the town of Lowestoft in Suffolk. It is best known for its large number of Royal Navy burials from World War I and World War II; these are maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. Thomas Crisp, who was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross in 1917 is commemorated here on his wife's headstone. Buried here is Robert William Hook, coxswain at RNLI Lowestoft from 1853 to 1883 and who has been credited with saving more than 600 lives. The cemetery is managed by Waveney District Council. Located on Normanston Drive, Lowestoft Cemetery received its first burial in 1885.

Lowestoft Corporation Tramways was the operator of the electric tramway system that served Lowestoft from 22 July 1903 until 8 May 1931.

Benjamin Britten Academy (formerly The Benjamin Britten High School) is a coeducational secondary school located in the northern outskirts of Lowestoft, Suffolk, England. It caters for scholars aged 11 to 18. It is also home to the Suffolk Centre of Excellence in Mathematics. The school was named after the Lowestoft-born composer Benjamin Britten and was designed as he approached his death in 1974. Its modernist design reflected the style of his compositions and remains distinctive in its layout and intended black and white colour scheme. The school was completed in 1979.In September 2011 the school became an 11 to 16 school as part of the reorganisation of schools in Lowestoft by Suffolk County Council. Pupils in years 7 and 8 joined the school after the closure of eight middle schools in Lowestoft. The opening of Lowestoft Sixth Form College also meant that the school lost its role in the Lowestoft 6th consortium, which had operated as a shared sixth form between the high schools in the town. Previously a Local Authority school administered by Suffolk County Council, in May 2016, the Benjamin Britten High School was converted to academy status. It was granted 11-18 Sixth Form status, as part of the Hartismere family of schools. The school continues to coordinate with Suffolk County Council for admissions. The academy was awarded a rating of 'good' from Ofsted in 2019.

Flixton is a civil parish in the north of the English county of Suffolk. It is 2 miles (3.2 km) north-east of Lowestoft in the East Suffolk district. The parish is sparsely populated with an estimated population of around 40. It borders the parishes of Blundeston, Oulton and Corton. The parish council is operated jointly with Blundeston. The B1075 Lowestoft to Somerleyton road crosses the parish.
