The Presbyterian Ladies' College (informally known as PLC), is an independent, day and boarding school predominantly for girls, situated in Peppermint Grove, a western suburb of Perth, Western Australia. Established in 1915 by the Presbyterian Church of Australia, PLC came under the control of the Uniting Church in Australia in 1977 following church union. The college moved to the current grounds (an 8-acre (32,000 m2) property) in 1917. PLC's grounds consist of a junior school for years Pre-Kindy to Year 6, a middle school for Years 7 to 9, a senior school for Years 10 to 12, sporting grounds, arts centres and boarding facilities. The school currently caters for approximately 1200 students, with boys and girls enrolled from pre-kindergarten to pre-primary and girls only from Year 1 to Year 12. PLC also provides accommodation for up to 150 boarders in Years 7 to 12.The college has been an IB World School since December 2006, and is authorised to offer the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and IB Middle Years Programme and the IB Diploma Programme. PLC is also registered to offer the Western Australian State Curriculum to Years 11 and 12. PLC is affiliated with the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia (AHISA), the Junior School Heads Association of Australia (JSHAA), the Australian Boarding Schools' Association (ABSA), and the Alliance of Girls' Schools Australia (AGSA).

The Methodist Ladies' College, Perth (MLC Perth), is an independent, Uniting Church, day and boarding school for girls, located in Claremont, a western suburb of Perth, Western Australia. Founded by the Methodist Church of Australia in 1907, MLC is a non-selective school, and currently caters for more than 1,170 girls from pre-kindergarten to Year 12, including 90 boarders.The college was ranked as the number one TEE school in the state for 2006 and 2008 seeing 55.1 percent of students achieving a mark of seventy five percent or above in at least one subject.

The Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club is a yacht club situated in Freshwater Bay on the Swan River in Peppermint Grove, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. The club was founded in 1896 by a group of friends including Aubrey Sherwood and Edward Keane, whose residence is now the RFBYC clubhouse. It is the second yacht club in Perth to be granted the royal charter, and it has established a strong but friendly rivalry with the other royal club, Royal Perth Yacht Club.Each year the fleets of the two Royal clubs race, with the prize 'The Governor's Cup' being presented by the Governor of Western Australia as the Queen's representative and patron of the royal clubs. The club holds functions weekly in both the Athol Hobbs Room and Main Function and Dining Room, with a bar open 7 days of the week to members.

Christ Church Grammar School is a multi-campus independent Anglican single-sex early learning, primary and secondary day and boarding school for boys. Located in Perth, Western Australia, the school's main campus overlooks Freshwater Bay on the Swan River, in the suburb of Claremont. J. McClemans. The school opened on 7 February 1910 as Christ Church Preparatory School with a single classroom and nine boys.[note a In 1917, the school's status was raised from a preparatory school to university junior examination level and renamed Christ Church School.: 35  In 1931, it became known as Christ Church Grammar School.A total of 1,650 boys, 110 of whom are boarders, are enrolled at Christ Church. The Albion Hotel on Stirling Highway in Cottesloe, Western Australia is a historical building, trading as a hotel since 1870.In its early years it was known as Halfway House - being located midway between Fremantle and Perth. The site was established by Thomas Briggs before 1869. The current hotel has traded under various names for over a century as a public house.

Freshwater Bay is a bay of the Swan River, in metropolitan Perth, Western Australia. It is about 5 km upstream from the mouth of the river at Fremantle and is overlooked by the suburbs of Dalkeith, Claremont, Mosman Park and Peppermint Grove. Freshwater Bay was named after Freshwater Bay and Freshwater, Isle of Wight by Henry Charles Prinsep (1844-1922), who had a riverside family holiday cottage there, The Chine.
