Methley

Methley railway station was opened in 1841 by the North Midland Railway on its line from Derby to Leeds. At one time, there were three railway stations in Methley and in 1950, British Railways renamed it Methley North. It closed in 1957. Slightly to the south, the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway made a north-facing junction of its line from Knottingley and it built its own station (Methley Junction). This station opened on 1 October 1849 and closed on 4 October 1943. A third station was built by the Methley Joint Railway, a line in which the L&YR, the GNR and the NER were shareholders. This station, opened on 1 May 1869, known as Methley Joint station was closed as Methley South on 7 March 1960.

Methley Junction railway station was one of three stations that served the village of Methley, West Yorkshire, England. South of the station, the Methley Joint Railway to Lofthouse branched off from the Lancashire and Yorkshire line. The site of the former station is now part of a housing estate.

St Aidan's is a 355 hectare (877 acres) nature park located between Leeds and Castleford in West Yorkshire, England. The land was formerly an opencast coal mining area that was flooded in 1988, after the riverbank collapsed. Repairs and remediation required their own Act of Parliament to allow the necessary works to go ahead. Mining ceased at St Aidan's in 2002.The nature park opened to the public in May 2013 under the care of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). However, the car park and visitor centre were subsequently closed in July 2013 due to unresolved land issues. With the successful transfer of St Aidan's to Leeds City Council, a 99-year lease was signed from the council to the RSPB in March 2017. The site is now open and functioning as an RSPB nature park. It is open every day excluding Christmas Day with the visitor centre open from 9.30 am to 5 pm February – October and 9.30 am to 4 pm November – January.RSPB St Aidan's Nature Park is designed for both people and wildlife and is open for a wide range of activities, from bird watching, cycling and walking to jogging, horse riding and dog walking.

Mickletown is a district within the village of Methley, south of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The Leeds Country Way and the Trans Pennine Trail both pass Mickletown. The 2021 United Kingdom census, recorded Mickletown as having a population of 3,358.

Altofts railway station served the village of Altofts near Normanton in the English county of West Yorkshire. It was opened in 1870 as Altofts and Whitwood by the Midland Railway on its line from Derby to Leeds Wellington Station. Much of the village of Altofts is in fact closer to Normanton station. It was built on an embankment using spoil from the cutting south of Normanton. The area was in any case, prone to subsidence, resulting in speed restrictions and the need to shore up the platforms. North of the station the line crosses the Aire and Calder Navigation and the River Calder by means of a viaduct of five sixty foot arches.

Wakefield Europort is a rail-connected warehousing and industrial estate located to the northeast of Wakefield at junction 31 of the M62 motorway in West Yorkshire, England. It opened in 1996 in anticipation of increased international railfreight due to the construction of the Channel Tunnel. As of 2012 the site employs over 3,000 persons, and has motorway, high capacity rail, and waterway (canal) transport access.

Lower Mickletown is a hamlet in the City of Leeds, in the English county of West Yorkshire. It was named Low Mickletown in the early 20th century and has been known under this name at least until about 1950.Lower Mickletown is served by Arriva Yorkshire buses running between Leeds and Wakefield.

Kippax railway station was a railway station on the Castleford–Garforth line in West Yorkshire, England. The station opened in 1878 and closed to passengers in 1951, although the line remained open for a further 18 years for diversions and goods traffic.

Bowers railway station was a station opened in 1934 by the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) on the Castleford–Garforth line, in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was only open for 17 years, being closed in January 1951, though the line remained open until the 1990s for coal traffic from the nearby collieries.
