Transiteatret-Bergen (Transit) is a theatre ensemble based in Bergen, Norway. Transiteatret-Bergen (Transit) works under the artistic direction of playwright and director Tore Vagn Lid with the development of a contemporary theatre working in the intersection between theatre and music. Transit constitute an artistic production-network, comprising director, sound-,video- designer, set designers, moviemakers, actors and musicians – mainly working with base in Lids concepts and plays [1]. The core artistic ambition has been "to expand the theatre room as a critical room of experience, where the musical and musical dramaturgic potential of the theatre is the most central"[2]. Tt-B has since its foundation in 2001 carried out over 20 scenic experiments and award-winning productions. The company has been presented i several European countries, and was the first Norwegian company to perform at the Salzburg Festival ("Measures Taken", Young directors project 2008).[3]

Lydgalleriet is a non-commercial gallery for sound based art practices, situated in the centre of Bergen. The gallery explores today’s plethora of experimental sound based art and auditive cultures through exhibitions, concerts, performance and interventions in public space. Lydgalleriet exhibits national and international artists and initiates local art production. The range of projects is wide and covers among other forms, audio art, installations, speaker concerts and performances and instrument demonstrations. Exhibited artists include, among others Christian Marclay, Peter Vogel, Zimoun, Alvin Lucier, Pierre Henry, Robert Henke and Chris Watson. Since November 2005 Lydgalleriet has made projects in different locations in Bergen. During the first years the main base was Østre Skostredet 3, moving to USF Verftet for the renovation in 2011-2012 and then back to the renovated spaces in Østre Skostredet 3 in October 2012. Lydgalleriet moved to Strandgaten 195 in August 2020. Lydgalleriet is funded by the Arts Council Norway and the city of Bergen with annual grants and has showed about 8 exhibitions each year since 2007. Lydgalleriet is the only permanent venue in Scandinavia that focuses on sound art, which is a growing field in the visual arts. Lydgalleriet is a partner in the Norwegian production network for electronic art, PNEK, and the European sound art network Resonance.

Hordaland District Court (Norwegian: Hordaland tingrett) is a district court located in Vestland county, Norway. This court is based at two different courthouses which are located in Bergen and Lofthus. The court serves the Nordhordland, Midthordland, and Hardanger areas of the county which includes cases from 18 municipalities. The court in Bergen accepts cases from the municipalities of Alver, Askøy, Austevoll, Austrheim, Bergen, Bjørnafjorden, Fedje, Masfjorden, Modalen, Osterøy, Samnanger, Vaksdal, Voss, and Øygarden. The court in Lofthus (which also can meet in Norheimsund and Odda) accepts cases from the municipalities of Eidfjord, Kvam, Ullensvang, and Ulvik. The court is subordinate to the Gulating Court of Appeal.The court is led by a chief judge (sorenskriver) and several other judges. The court is a court of first instance. Its judicial duties are mainly to settle criminal cases and to resolve civil litigation as well as bankruptcy. The administration and registration tasks of the court include death registration, issuing certain certificates, performing duties of a notary public, and officiating civil wedding ceremonies. Cases from this court are heard by a combination of professional judges and lay judges.

Strandgaten is a street in the city centre of Bergen, Norway, west of the bay of Vågen. It starts at Torgallmenningen and follows the eastern shore of the Nordnes peninsula to Tidemands gate, where it becomes Nordnesgaten. The easternmost quarter of Strandgaten is a regular two-way street, while it is an eastbound one-way street between Tollbodallmenningen and Holbergsallmenningen, and between Østre Murallmenningen and Torgallmenningen. Between Holbergsallmenningen and Østre Murallmenningen the street is pedestrianised. In total, Strandgaten is approximately 1.2 km long.

Bergen Anglican Church is a congregation of the Church of England in the Anglican Chaplaincy in Norway in the city of Bergen, Norway. Emerging in the late 1950s and institutionalised in 1962 the congregation was a spiritual home for British expatriates and especially the Second World War "War Brides" from Scotland. The congregation has grown to become broadly international in character providing worship in the English language. Since its emergence the congregation's strong core lay ministry and leadership was supplemented periodically by visiting or designated Anglican priests from St Edmund's Anglican Church in Oslo, and beginning in the 1990s was served by Peter Hogarth who served as the Assistant Chaplain for Western Norway, who was arrested for possession of child abuse images some years after the end of his responsibility for Bergen (https://www.churchtimes.co.uk/articles/2019/6-september/news/world/prison-for-norway-cleric-over-child-abuse-images ). Mpole Samuel Masemola was installed as the congregation's first resident priest January 2013, and left in July 2015. Normal worship services were first held at the Engensenteret Chapel, Baneveien 1, near Nøstet, and now at the historic Mariakirken i Bergen or St Mary's Church, Bergen since 2015. Within the scope of the Porvoo Communion the congregation enjoys close cooperation with the Bergen Cathedral parish of the Church of Norway. As a congregation within the Anglican Chaplaincy in Norway the Bergen Anglican Church is a part of the Archdeaconry of Germany and Northern Europe in the Diocese of Gibraltar in Europe, which is part of the province of Canterbury in the Church of England. The diocesan bishop is Robert Innes and David Hamid is Suffragan Bishop in Europe.

Nykirken (literally: "The new church") is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the Nordnes area of the city of Bergen. It is one of the churches for the Bergen Cathedral parish which is part of the Bergen domprosti (arch-deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin.The large, white, stone, cruciform church is located at the "Nykirkeallmenningen" square between the Strandgaten road and Vågen bay. Although it is generally known as the Nykirken, it was consecrated in 1622 by Bishop Nils Paaske as "Holy Trinity Church". When the church was originally built in 1622, there were several other churches in Bergen that were already several hundred years old, so this church was nicknamed "the new church", a name which has stuck for centuries. It is also (probably) an appropriate nickname, since the churches on this site have burned down several times and then been rebuilt, so it literally is usually the "newest" church in the central city. The current building dates back to 1764 when it was completely rebuilt and redesigned after a major fire. It has been significantly rebuilt several times since then, too, following various fires.The church was a parish church for the Nykirken parish in central Bergen from 1622 until 2002. In 2002, several urban parishes in central Bergen were merged to form Bergen Cathedral parish. The Nykirken is still in regular use, but it has been given a special emphasis as a "children's church", putting a special emphasis on children and their families. Since 2002, the parish has started calling the church the "Children's Cathedral".

The Battle of Vågen was a naval battle between a Dutch merchant and treasure fleet; and an English flotilla of warships in August 1665 as part of the Second Anglo-Dutch War. The battle took place in Vågen (meaning "the bay, voe" in Norwegian), the main port area of neutral Bergen, Norway. Due to a delay in orders, the Norwegian commanders took the side of the Dutch, contrary to the secret intentions of the King of Norway and Denmark. The battle ended with the retreat of the English fleet, which was much damaged but had lost no ships. The treasure fleet was relieved by the Dutch home fleet 17 days later.

Carte Blanche is the Norwegian national company of contemporary dance, based in Bergen in western Norway. Since August 2018 the artistic and general director of the company has been Annabelle Bonnéry from France. Choreographers who have recently worked with Carte Blanche include Ina Christel Johannessen, Alan Lucien Øyen, Sharon Eyal (from Batsheva Dance Company), and Rui Horta. The company produces a minimum of three new choreographic works a year and performs an average of four to six productions every year. While the home base of the company is in Bergen, the company spends much time touring elsewhere in Norway (e.g. Oslo Opera House), but also abroad. Some recent international performances include: "Klokka 3 om ettermiddagen" (3 o'clock in the afternoon) by Ina Christel Johannessen at the "Ice hot – Nordic dance platform" festival in Stockholm, Sweden, "Corps de Walk" by Sharon Eyal in Turku, Finland, as a part of city's activities as a European Capital of Culture in 2011 "Ambra" by Ina Christel Johannessen, a co-production between Carte Blanche and Iceland Dance Company staged at the Reykjavík Arts Festival and the Bergen International Festival. Johannessen received the 2008 Norwegian Critics Price for her choreography of Ambra. "Killer Pig" and "Love" by Sharon Eyal at the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, Becket, MA, USAThe company has an international crew of about 15 dancers. During the audition in January 2011, 170 candidates representing 28 nationalities were competing for two vacancies.The history of Carte Blanche in Bergen starts in 1989, first as a regional dance theatre. After a turbulent start including a bankruptcy, the company has gained a solid position, and is currently the national contemporary dance theatre of Norway. Carte Blanche is owned and funded by the Norwegian state (70%), the County of Hordaland (15%) and the City of Bergen (15%).

Vågen is a bay in the centre of the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. It is the central harbour of the city centre, and is the center of the historical core of the city. The city of Bergen originated on the east shore of the bay, and from there it expanded to the southern and western shores over a few centuries. Today, Bergen is the second largest city in the nation.The 1,200-metre (3,900 ft) long bay branches off the main Byfjorden. The Nordnes peninsula lies on the south side of the bay, and the Bergenhus Fortress lies on the northern shore. The Bryggen UNESCO World Heritage Site also lies along the northern shore of the bay. Bryggen includes many old buildings, some of which date back to the 11th century.

Komediehuset på Engen ('Meadow Comedy House') was a historic theatre in Bergen in Norway, active between 1800 and 1909. It was the likely first theatre building in Norway. It housed the Det dramatiske Selskab of Bergen (1800-28), travelling theatre companies (1828-50), the Det norske Theater (Bergen) (1850-63) and Den Nationale Scene (1876-1909), and was finally a concert house and theater museum until it was destroyed in a British bomb raid in 1944.

Bergen Port is an international seaport located in the centre of Bergen, Norway, operated by Bergen Port Authority. Port locations are featured along most of the two bays in Bergen, Vågen and Puddefjorden. In 2006 it served 27,342 calls with 68 million tonnes of cargo and 109,000 containersas well as 600,000 cruise ship passengers. The port has 5,500 meters of quays with draft at 11 meters. Warehouses with capacity of 50,000 square meters are co-located with the port.

BIT Teatergarasjen (BIT) is a producer and co-producer of international contemporary theatre and dance in Norway. It emphasises projects that stimulate international co-production and co-operations between different fields of art. BIT was established as a festival in 1983/84, and changed into an all-year theatre in 1990. The program consists of approximately 50% theatre productions and 50% dance productions. BIT is one of the main producers and co-producers of international contemporary theatre and dance in Norway. BIT co-operates with theatres and producers in several European countries. BIT has no artistic crew employed; it works mostly with established companies. BIT's artistic director is Sven Birkeland and its managing director is Mette Helgesen.
