The M7 Clem Jones Tunnel (CLEM7), known during its development as the North-South Bypass Tunnel (NSBT), is a A$3.2 billion motorway grade toll road under the Brisbane River, between Woolloongabba and Bowen Hills in Brisbane, Queensland. The tunnel was progressively opened to traffic from late on 15 March 2010 until just after midnight on 16 March 2010. It was completely open by 12:02 am.The tunnel was originally proposed by Labor Lord Mayor Jim Soorley in 2001, and was incorporated into the Liberal Party candidate Campbell Newman's five tunnel vision, called TransApex, in 2002. In December 2007, Brisbane City Council decided to name the tunnel the Clem Jones Tunnel in honour of the former lord mayor. On 16 July 2008, the Government of Queensland announced that the tunnel "heralds Queensland’s newest motorway - the M7". It is Brisbane’s first privately financed inner city toll road, the city's largest road infrastructure project and one of Queensland's largest infrastructure projects. With a length of 4.8 km (3.0 mi) it was the longest road tunnel in the country until the 6.7 km (4.2 mi) Airport Link tunnel was completed.Construction bids were provided by a tender process in which RiverCity Motorway was selected over the Brisconnections consortium. The project commenced in September 2006, with tunneling using two very large boring machines completed by May 2009. The tunnel is tolled via an electronic tolling system. It includes extensive safety systems, a traffic control centre and speed cameras. The price of the toll has been criticised as too expensive and the ventilation stacks as too intrusive.Patronage decreased by more than 65% in the week following the introduction of a reduced toll period, and remains considerably lower than predicted volumes. Despite being completed on time and on budget, the tunnel has been an economic failure due to incorrect predictions of traffic volume. RiverCity Motorway did not collect enough tolls to pay the interest on its $1.3 billion debt and went into receivership. With no hope of profit and therefore no dividend, RiverCity Motorways shares are now worthless, costing investors millions.On 25 February 2011, Rivercity Motorways was placed into receivership after being unable to pay interest on its debt. In December 2013, Queensland Motorways, operator of the Gateway and Logan motorways, took over tolling and operation of CLEM7. In July 2014, Queensland Motorways was acquired by a consortium (Transurban Queensland) led by toll road operator Transurban, which now manages and operates the tunnel.

Howard Smith Wharves is a heritage-listed wharf on the Brisbane River at Boundary Street, Brisbane City and Fortitude Valley, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was built from c. 1934 to 1940s circa. It is also known as Brisbane Central Wharves. The 3.5-hectare (8.6-acre) site is one of the most culturally and historically significant riverfront locations in Brisbane. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 4 February 1997.In 2009, Brisbane City Council proposed an extensive commercial development of the site that includes hotel, sport and entertainment facilities in new or refurbished old buildings. This plan was rejected by the local community which resulted in a revised plan incorporating greater public space and less commercial development. The revised plan was then rejected by the Queensland Government over concerns with flooding. In 2013, Brisbane City Council again requested proposals from interested parties to redevelop the site. In 2014, a preferred candidate was named, and in 2015, a development application for the design was approved. This new redeveloped site was opened in late 2018.A new ferry terminal on the Brisbane Ferries network will be opened at the site in 2020.

In January 1974 a flood occurred in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia after three weeks of continual rain. The Brisbane River, which runs through the heart of the city, broke its banks and flooded the surrounding areas. The cyclone that produced the flood also flooded surrounding cities: Ipswich, Beenleigh, and the Gold Coast.In total, there were 16 fatalities, 300 people injured, 8,000 homes destroyed and an estimated A$980 million in damages.

Holman Street ferry wharf is a heritage-listed ferry wharf located on the southern side of the Brisbane River in Kangaroo Point, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is served by RiverCity Ferries' CityHopper and the Cross River service to Riverside wharf. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register in 2004.

Skyline Apartments is a skyscraper in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia located in the CBD residential precinct known as Petrie Bight. Upon completion it was the third tallest residential building in Brisbane.The 2,631 m2 site was formerly home to the 4BC Radio Studios, and is located on the Brisbane River in close proximity to the Story Bridge. The upper levels of the tower boast spectaculars views down both reaches of the Brisbane River. The building contains 192 residential apartments, including two 2-level penthouse apartments. It is designed by Brisbane-based nettletontribe architects. Uniquely for a CBD building, the complex also includes tennis court as well as a gym, steam room and heated pool.

The Fortitude Valley Primitive Methodist Church is a heritage-listed former church (now an art gallery) at 483 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by Richard Gailey and built from 1876 to 1900 by John Smith & Sons. It is also known as Brunswick Street Methodist Church, Brunswick Street Uniting Church, Potters Gallery, Brisbane Modern Art Gallery and High Church. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992.

All Hallows' School Buildings are a heritage-listed group of Roman Catholic private school buildings at 547 Ann Street, Fortitude Valley, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. They were designed by a number of notable Brisbane architects and were constructed over many years. The earliest is the All Hallows Convent, also known as Adderton. The buildings were added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992.

La Scala is a heritage-listed detached house at 517 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by Thomas Ramsay Hall and built c. 1915. It was originally known as Craig Athol. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992.

Soleil Meriton is a luxurious residential skyscraper located at 495 Adelaide Street, Brisbane, Australia. Construction began in early 2009, with the building officially ready in 2011. At 243 metres (797 ft), it was Queensland's capital city -Brisbane's tallest building until 2013 when Infinity Tower (249 metres (817 ft)) overtook it. A 68 floor building, it contains 25 floors of serviced apartments and 43 floors of private residential apartments. In total there are 464 apartments. There is no penthouse in the building. The serviced apartments, which includes 50 apartments in the top nine levels, are owned by Meriton.It is situated on a relatively small 1,500-square-metre (16,000 sq ft) corner site with rear access from Arch Lane. The slender building houses 10 levels of carpark which required one of the biggest excavations in Brisbane's history. Retail space for cafes and restaurants is provided across three levels.The first building design for the site was rejected by the Brisbane City Council. This design was described as appalling and raised traffic congestion impacts. In late June 2008 a new design was submitted to the council and approved. The building was officially opened by former Queensland Premier, Anna Bligh and Meriton boss, Harry Triguboff on 20 September 2011 but it was completed in early 2012. Starting at the first floor tenants began moving in as floors were completed.

Austral Motors Building is a heritage-listed former automobile showroom at 95 Boundary Street, Fortitude Valley, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by Lange Leopold Powell and George Gerald Hutton and built from 1923 to 1925 by Blair Cunningham. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 11 April 2005.

All Hallows' School (AHS) is a Catholic day school for girls, located in Fortitude Valley, close to the central business district of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Founded in 1861, the school is a day school, having had a boarding school attached to it for many years. It follows in the tradition of the Irish Sisters of Mercy, and caters for more than 1,550 girls from Years five to twelve. The school was the first permanent home of the Sisters of Mercy in Queensland, and is the oldest surviving secondary school in Brisbane.All Hallows' is a member of the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia (AHISA), the Alliance of Girls' Schools Australia, the Australasian Mercy Secondary Schools Association, and the Catholic Secondary Schoolgirls' Sports Association.The school's motto is in French, Dieu et Devoir (English: "God and Duty"). This motto was formulated in 1911, 50 years after the school opened. The French language was chosen for the motto on the basis of the strong French influence in the school's early years.Many of the All Hallows' School Buildings have been listed on the Queensland Heritage Register.In the 2017 NAPLAN Year 9 test, All Hallows' was ranked in the top 10 Queensland secondary schools.
