Frant railway station

Frant is a village and civil parish in the Wealden District of East Sussex, England, on the Kentish border about three miles (5 km) south of Royal Tunbridge Wells. When the iron industry was at its height, much of the village was owned by ironmasters. Smuggling occurred here in the 17th and 18th centuries, and one of the turnpike roads (now the A267) came through here at that time.Frant church is dedicated to St Alban and there is a church school. St Alban's Frant was a major surveying point for the Anglo-French Survey (1784–1790) calculating the precise distance and relationship between the Paris Observatory and the Royal Greenwich Observatory, undertaken by General William Roy. There are three public houses in the parish: the Abergavenny Arms on the A267 in Frant, the George Inn in the High Street and the Brecknock Arms at Bells Yew Green. The George Inn plays host to the Sloe Gin World Championships each December, attracting entries from around the globe.Lieutenant-Colonel John By, the Royal Engineer who headed the Rideau Canal project in Ottawa, 1826–1832, is buried here. He was also the builder of Bytown, which became Ottawa, the capital of Canada.

St Alban's Church is a Church of England parish church in Frant, East Sussex, England. It was built in 1819–22 in a fifteenth-century gothic revival style and is a grade II listed building.

Dunorlan Park is a park and grounds in Royal Tunbridge Wells, UK. Totalling approximately 78 acres (32 ha) and containing a 6-acre (2.4 ha) lake, the grounds were landscaped by Robert Marnock for Henry Reed, the merchant and philanthropist who owned the estate and the now-demolished house that once overlooked it.

The Nevill Ground is a cricket ground at Royal Tunbridge Wells in the English county of Kent. It is owned by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council and is used by Tunbridge Wells Cricket Club in the summer months and by Tunbridge Wells Hockey Club in the winter. It was opened in 1898 and was first used by Kent County Cricket Club in 1901. The county has held the Tunbridge Wells Cricket Week on the ground annually, despite a suffragette arson attack which destroyed the pavilion in 1913. As well as hosting over 180 of Kent's first-class cricket matches, the ground played host to a single One Day International during the 1983 Cricket World Cup and was used for one match during the 1993 Women's Cricket World Cup. The ground is known for being one of the more picturesque county grounds in England and particularly for having rhododendron bushes around the perimeter. It is located around 1 mile (1.6 km) south-east of the centre of Tunbridge Wells in Hawkenbury.

Beechwood School is a co-educational independent day and boarding school for children aged 3–18, which comprises a Nursery, Preparatory School and Senior School, with boarding for children aged 11–18. Beechwood is situated on a 23-acre campus in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Admission to the Senior School is via assessment in mathematics, English, non-verbal reasoning, and creative writing. Ages of admission are at 11+, 13+ and 16+. The School serves the local area in West Kent and East Sussex, but welcomes boarders from many different nations.

Wadhurst railway station is on the Hastings line in the south of England and serves the town of Wadhurst, East Sussex. It is 39 miles 23 chains (63.2 km) down the line from London Charing Cross. The station and all trains serving it are operated by Southeastern. The station is at the bottom of a fairly steep hill, with the town centre about a mile away at the top. An hourly bus (more frequent at peak times) links the station with the town centre and with the neighbouring villages of Durgates, Ticehurst, Flimwell and Hawkhurst. The bus route also heads north through Frant and terminates at Tunbridge Wells. Designed by the architect William Tress, the station was opened in 1851 by the South Eastern Railway. Originally there were sidings and a goods shed, but these have been replaced with a car park. Unusually, the station features a private entrance to nearby Faircrouch, a large Grade II listed house around 220 yards from the westbound platform. In 2000 the station buildings and footbridge were given Grade II listed status.

The academy is rated outstanding by Ofsted.Tunbridge Wells High School became The Skinners' Kent Academy in September 2009, when the school became an academy, and independent of local authority control.

Best Beech Hill is a locality in the civil parish of Wadhurst in the Wealden district of East Sussex, England. Wadhurst lies approximately 1.6 miles (2.6 km) north-east on the B2100 road.

The Assembly Hall Theatre is a theatre in Tunbridge Wells seating 1,020 people. The theatre hosts a variety of popular music, comedy, family, dance, drama, classical music and variety events, as well as an annual pantomime. Since 1967, the Assembly Hall has been home to the Tunbridge Wells Operatic and Dramatic Society. Their first performance was Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Gondoliers.Past performers have included Shane Filan of Westlife, Coolio, Let Loose and The Stranglers.

The Hotel du Vin & Bistro is a hotel in Crescent Road, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England. It lies in between St Augustine's Catholic Church and Eynshym House. The hotel is part of the Hotel du Vin chain. It is located in a Grade II listed sandstone building dated to 1762 and overlooks Caverley Park. The building was extended in the 1830s by Decimus Burton and contains 36 bedrooms, a billiards room and a boules court as of 2011, although 32 rooms and 1 suite were reported in 2001. John Gielgud was a frequent visitor to the hotel.
