Calgary-Fish Creek

Calgary South was a provincial electoral district in Calgary, Alberta, Canada from 1963 to 1971. The district was one of 63 districts in 1963, and 65 in 1967, mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta using the first past the post method of voting.

Parkland is a residential neighbourhood in the southeast quadrant of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is bounded to the north by Canyon Meadows Drive, to the east by Bow Bottom Trail and to the south and west by Fish Creek Provincial Park. The land was annexed to the City of Calgary in 1961 and Parkland was established in 1974. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 14 councillor.

Lake Bonavista is a neighbourhood in Southeast Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is bounded by Anderson Road to the north, Macleod Trail to the west, Canyon Meadows Drive to the south, and Bow Bottom Trail to the east. The small community of Bonavista Downs resides in the northeast corner of the neighbourhood.

Queensland is a residential neighbourhood in the southeast quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded to the north by the community of Diamond Cove, to the east by the Bow River and Fish Creek Provincial Park, to the south by Canyon Meadows Drive, and to the west by Bow Bottom Trail. The land was annexed to the City of Calgary in 1961 and Queensland was established in 1973. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 14 councillor.

Fish Creek Park is an urban provincial park that preserves the valley of Fish Creek in the southern part of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is bordered on three sides by the city, and on the west by the territory of the Tsuu T’ina Nation (Sarcee), a First Nation. Much of the park remains in a natural, forested state. Fish Creek flows throughout its length, joining the Bow River on the east side of the park, and there is an artificial lake that offers swimming. With more than 100 kilometres (62 mi) of paved and unpaved trails, the park is a popular area for hiking and biking, as well as for picnicking, swimming, fishing, and observing wildlife. Fish Creek Park is the second-largest urban park in Canada after Rouge National Urban Park in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, and followed by Pippy Park in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. It is also one of the largest urban parks in North America, stretching 19 km (12 mi) from east to west. With an area of 13.48 km2 (5.20 sq mi), it is more than three times the size of Vancouver's Stanley Park.

Midnapore is a community within the City of Calgary in the province of Alberta, Canada. It is bounded to the north and east by Fish Creek Provincial Park, to the south by Sun Valley Boulevard and to the west by Macleod Trail.

Diamond Cove is a small residential neighbourhood in the southeast quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded to the north by Anderson Road and Deerfoot Trail, to the east by the Bow River, to the south by Queensland, and to the west by Bow Bottom Trail. The land was annexed to the City of Calgary in 1961 and the neighbouring community of Queensland was established in 1973. Diamond Cove was established as an estate community with construction commencing in 1989, however the community was officially recognised in 1991. The community has a dedicated entrance, accessed from Bow Bottom Trail about 1.5 km north of Canyon Meadows Drive. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 14 councillor.

Deer Ridge is a residential neighbourhood in the southeast quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located in the Bow River valley, and is bounded to the north by Canyon Meadows Drive, to the east by Deercliff Road and the Bow River, to the south by Deerfield Circle and the community of Deer Run and to the west by Bow Bottom Trail. Fish Creek Provincial Park is located immediately east. The land was annexed into the City of Calgary in 1961, and Deer Ridge was established in 1978. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 14 councillor.

Centennial High School is a high school in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, teaching grades 10 through 12. The school's name was chosen as a reference to the 100th birthday of the province of Alberta in 2005, as the construction of the school was finished that year. The school opened for students to attend in 2004, while the school was still undergoing construction. The school is part of the Action for Bright Children Society.

Maple Ridge is a residential neighbourhood in the southeast quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. The community is bounded to the east by Deerfoot Trail, north by Southland Drive, west by Willow Park and south by Anderson Road. The Maple Ridge golf course, developed in the Bow River valley, lines the community to the south and east. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 14 councillor and, along with Willow Park, makes up the combined community of WillowRidge. Maple Ridge is home to the popular Maple Ridge Golf Course, located at 1240 Mapleglade Drive.

Sundance is a residential neighbourhood in the southeast quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located east of Macleod Trail, is bounded to the north and east by Midnapore and Fish Creek Provincial Park and to the south by Stoney Trail. The 33-acre (130,000 m2) man-made Sundance Lake was constructed in the middle of the community, and residents have easy access to the public beach of Sikome Lake. Sundance was established in 1982. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 14 councillor.

Canyon Meadows station is a CTrain light rail station in Canyon Meadows, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It serves the South Line (Route 201) and opened on October 9, 2001, as part of the South LRT Extension Phase I. It is located on the exclusive LRT right of way (adjacent to the CPR ROW) 12.6 km South of the City Hall Interlocking, beside MacLeod Trail, to the north of Canyon Meadows Drive. The station has a pedestrian bridge connecting to Lake Bonavista as well as a large park-and-ride facility on the east side of Macleod Trail. Stairs and escalators, as well as an elevator provide access down to the center-loading platform. This is the only station on the South line without grade-level access due to space constraints. 260 parking spaces are located at the station. In 2005, the station registered and average transit of 5,800 boardings per weekday.Originally constructed as a 3-car length platform, construction of the platform to accommodate 4-train cars started in Summer 2011 and was completed in December that year.
