Acle railway station

Blofield and East and West Flegg Rural Districts were adjacent rural districts in Norfolk, England from 1894 to 1935.They were formed under the Local Government Act 1894 based on rural sanitary districts of the same names, and lay between Norwich and Great Yarmouth. East and West Flegg RD included a detached portion, itself an outlying part of Runham parish. In 1935 the two districts, with very minor changes around Great Yarmouth, were merged to form Blofield and Flegg Rural District. Subsequently, changes to the border with Norwich County Borough were made in 1951. In 1974, the merged district was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972, and became mainly part of the Broadland district, with a small part being added to the Borough of Great Yarmouth.

The Acle Academy, formerly known as Acle High School, is a secondary school which is located in Acle, Norfolk, England. This is in the centre of the Norfolk Broads. The academy status school has 700 pupils, ranging in age from 11 to 16 years old.

Acle ( AY-kəl) is a market town on the River Bure on the Norfolk Broads in Norfolk, located halfway between Norwich and Great Yarmouth. It has the only bridge across the River Bure between Wroxham and Great Yarmouth.The civil parish has an area of 9.46 km2 (3.65 sq mi) and in 2001 had a population of 2,732 in 1,214 households, increasing to a population of 2,824 in 1,285 households at the Census 2011. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the area of the district of Broadland.The name "Acle" means "oaks lea", that is, a clearing in an oak forest. In Tudor times, hundreds of oaks were felled here for timber to construct Elizabeth I's warships.

Decoy Carr, Acle is a 56-hectare (140-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Acle in Norfolk. It is part of the Broadland Ramsar site and Special Protection Area, and The Broads Special Area of Conservation.This area of wet carr woodland, fen, reedbeds and open water, is spring fed. It has a number of rare Arctic–alpine mosses, such as Cinclidium stygium and Camptothecium nitens, which indicate only minor disturbance since the end of the last ice age. There is a network of dykes which have clear spring water and a variety of water plants.The site is private land with no public access.

Fishley is a village in the English county of Norfolk, forming part of the civil parish of Upton with Fishley. The village is located 0.5 miles (0.80 km) north of Acle and 11 miles (18 km) east of Norwich.

Damgate Marshes, Acle is a 64.7-hectare (160-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest between Norwich and Great Yarmouth in Norfolk. It is part of the Broadland Ramsar site and The Broads Special Area of Conservation.These traditionally managed grazing marshes and dykes are a nationally important wetland site. Their ecological significance lies mainly in the dykes, which have several uncommon water plants and a great diversity of aquatic invertebrates.The Weavers Way footpath goes through the site.

Upton with Fishley is a civil parish in the English county of Norfolk, consisting of the former parishes of Upton and Fishley. It covers an area of 8.93 km2 (3.45 sq mi) and had a population of 660 in 272 households at the 2001 census, increasing to a population of 702 also in 272 households at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of Broadland.

Palmer's Drainage Windmill is located to the north of Upton Dyke close to the village of Upton in the English county of Norfolk. Upton Dyke runs westerly from the River Bure in the civil parish of Upton with Fishley . The Drainage mill can be found to the east of the village of Upton.

The villages name means 'higher farm/settlement'.Administratively it comes under the civil parish of Upton with Fishley which in turn comes under the district of Broadland. It is 2 miles (3 km) north of Acle, halfway between Norwich and Great Yarmouth. St. Margaret's Church is built in the Perpendicular style. Upton Dyke, leading to the Bure, is 0.5 miles (0.8 km) long. At the end of the dyke, there is a rare post mill, Palmers Hollow Post Mill. Upton Boat Dyke Marshes is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in the care of Norfolk Wildlife Trust. Upton Broads and Marshes is a Special Area of Conservation (SAC). Upton Fen, a nature reserve in the care of Norfolk Wildlife Trust, is nearby, also Upton Broad.

St Mary's Church is a redundant Anglican round-tower church near the village of Moulton St Mary, Norfolk, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. It stands some 4 kilometres (2 mi) to the south of Acle in an isolated position adjacent to a farm.

Tunstall is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Halvergate, in the Broadland district of Norfolk, England. It lies some 14 miles (22.5 km) south-east of Norwich alongside the River Bure. In 1931 the parish had a population of 94. The ruinous mediaeval parish church of St Peter and St Paul is a grade II* listed building. Although repaired 1705 and extended in 1853, only the chancel is now usable. According to local legend, the church's bells were stolen by the Devil. He plunged with them into a nearby boggy pool, whence their tolling can occasionally be heard.The Stracey Arms Windpump was once used to drain the surrounding marshland into the River Bure. A grade II* listed building, it is now maintained by the Norfolk Windmills Trust and is a visitor attraction.

Beighton is a village and civil parish in the Broadland district of Norfolk, England, about two miles (3 km) South-West of Acle about 12.8 miles (20.6 km) to Norwich. It covers an area of 7.63 km2 (2.95 sq mil) and has a population of 436 in 185 households according to the 2011 census. Today, Beighton incorporates the old parish of Moulton St Mary, and both parishes are mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. The All Saints church is situated within Beighton, along Church Hill. The church was described in 1870 as: The church is decorated English, and was recently restored.
