Lake Hitchcock

The Windsor Farms Historic District encompasses a large historically agricultural area and the historic town center of South Windsor, Connecticut. Its built environment extends mainly along Main Street, between Interstate 291 in the south and Strong Road in the north, with a diversity of architecture spanning three centuries. The district includes agricultural fields on both sides, many of which remain in tobacco cultivation. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Captain John Bissell Memorial Bridge carries I-291 over the Connecticut River, connecting the towns of Windsor, Connecticut and South Windsor, Connecticut. There is a pedestrian crossing on the bridge on the westbound, upstream side.

Windsor Meadows State Park is a public recreation area on the west side of the Connecticut River in the town of Windsor, Connecticut. The state park occupies three largely undeveloped sections measuring 48, 19, and 88 acres (from north to south) located between railroad tracks and the river. Park activities include picnicking, fishing, boating, hiking, and biking.

The Oliver W. Mills House is a historic house at 148 Deerfield Road in Windsor, Connecticut. Built in 1824, it is a well-preserved local example of a Federal period brick house. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The Captain Benjamin Allyn II House, also known locally as the Thomas Allyn House, is a historic house at 119 Deerfield Road in Windsor, Connecticut. Built in the mid-18th century or possibly earlier, it is a well-preserved example of a Colonial era brick house. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

The Timothy Dwight Mills House is a historic house at 184 Deerfield Road in Windsor, Connecticut. Built about 1833, it is a well-preserved local example of transitional Federal/Greek Revival architecture executed in brick. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The Elijah Mills House is a United States historic house at 45 Deerfield Road in Windsor, Connecticut. Built in 1822, it is a well-preserved local example of a Federal period brick house. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The Loomis Chaffee School (; LC or Loomis) is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory school for boarding and day students in grades 9–12, including postgraduate students, located in Windsor, Connecticut, seven miles north of Hartford. Seventy percent of Loomis Chaffee's 726 students reside on the school's 300-acre campus and represent forty-four foreign countries and thirty-one U.S. states. 71% of Loomis Chaffee's student body are boarding students and 29% are day students. Founded in 1914, Loomis Chaffee is a member of the Ten Schools Admissions Organization. Loomis had an acceptance rate of 17% for the 2022–2023 school year.

The Giles Barber House is a historic house at 411-413 Windsor Avenue in Windsor, Connecticut. Built about 1825, it is a well-preserved local example of a transitional Federal-Greek Revival brick house. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The Gilman-Hayden House is a historic house at 1871 Main Street in East Hartford, Connecticut. Built in 1784, it is a good local example of Georgian architecture, and is also notable as the home of Edward Hayden, a diarist of the American Civil War. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Capt. James Loomis House is a historic house at 881 Windsor Avenue in Windsor, Connecticut. Built about 1825, it is a good local example of transitional Federal-Greek Revival architecture executed in brick. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on September 15, 1988.

The Farmington River is a river, 46.7 miles (75.2 km) in length along its main stem, located in northwest Connecticut with major tributaries extending into southwest Massachusetts. The longest route of the river, from the origin of its West Branch, is 80.4 miles (129.4 km) long, making it the Connecticut River's longest tributary by 2.3 miles (3.7 km) over the major river directly to its north, the Westfield River. The Farmington River's watershed covers 609 square miles (1,580 km2). Historically, the river played an important role in small-scale manufacturing in towns along its course, but it is now mainly used for recreation and drinking water.
