Thomas Brackett Reed House

State Street is a downtown street in Portland, Maine, United States. Part of Maine State Route 77, it runs one-way for around 0.95 miles (1.53 km), from an intersection with Forest Avenue in the northwest to York Street in the southeast. It is one of the three main routes crossing the Portland peninsula in this direction, the other two being High Street and Franklin Street. Part of the street passes through the Deering Street Historic District. State Street and High Street were converted from two-way traffic in 1972.

The Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Monument is a public monument in Portland, Maine's West End. Located on the corner of State and Congress Street, it honors poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, who was born in Portland in 1807. The intersection built around the monument is known as Longfellow Square.

Named for the poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, it is one of the three main squares on the city's Congress Street — the others being Congress Square and Monument Square, both located a short distance to the northeast. A monument to Wadsworth, erected in 1888, stands in the center of the square, with the seated subject looking east. The square is bounded by Congress Street to the north and State Street (which intersects Congress Street) to the west and south. Adjacent to the square is One Longfellow Square, a small performing-arts center.

The Deering Street Historic District is a historic district in the Downtown and Parkside neighborhoods of Portland, Maine. Encompassing all of Deering Street and much of State Street, as well as adjacent portions of Congress and Mellen Streets, it is a cohesive collection of high quality architect-designed buildings from the second half of the 19th century, that were originally predominantly residential in nature. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

One Longfellow Square is a non-profit performing arts and concert venue in Portland, Maine, United States. Located in Longfellow Square, the building is home to the Center for Cultural Exchange, which opened on March 5, 1999, in the renovated building. The building was abandoned in 1994 and purchased by Portland Performing Arts in 1998. After the group spent nearly $800,000 to renovate the space. The venue nearly permanently closed due to financial losses sustained due to safety restrictions put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Griffin House is a historic house at 200 High Street in Portland, Maine. Built in 1871, it is one of the city's finer examples of Second Empire architecture, and was an early example of the trend to build further away from the city's port district. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The A. B. Butler House is an historic house at 4 Walker Street in Portland, Maine, United States. Built in 1868, it is a remarkably little-altered high-quality example of Second Empire architecture, and one of two surviving designs in the city of architect Matthew Stead. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 8, 1974.

The State Street Congregational Church is an historic Congregational church in Portland, Maine, United States. It was designed by architect William Washburn and built in 1851.

The Lafayette Hotel now Lafayette Apartments is an historic building in Portland, Maine, United States. Completed in 1903, the building was designed to be a luxury hotel and many of Maine's political and economic elites maintained year-round residences in the hotel. In the 1960s, the building was converted to an apartment building.It is located at 638 Congress Street, at the intersection of Park Avenue in the West End. It was built where Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette, stayed during his visit to the city in 1825. It was designed by architects Francis H. Fassett and his son, Edward F. Fassett and opened in June 1903. It was considered to be fireproof upon opening. The original proprietor was James Cunningham. It was notable for its Mayfair Ballroom and French motifs. The hotel advertised its adherence to the American Plan, which indicated the company's unwillingness to recognize or negotiate with trade unions.As of 2023, Sagamore Hill Lounge occupies part of the first floor.

The Neal Dow House, also known as Gen. Neal Dow House, is an historic house found at 714 Congress Street in Portland, Maine. It was built in 1829 for noted politician and prohibitionist Neal Dow (1804-1897), and was later designated a National Historic Landmark for that association. Dow was the author of the first prohibition law passed by the Maine legislature in 1851 (and giving such laws the epithet "Maine law"). He was known as a tireless, internationally known activist for the temperance movement. Dow's house was a center of activism in his lifetime, and is now the headquarters of the Maine chapter of the Women's Christian Temperance Union.
