Burl's Creek Event Grounds is a large-scale outdoor music venue in Oro-Medonte township, north of Barrie, Ontario, Canada. It is located on the south side of Highway 11 on Oro-Medonte's 8th Line, between Barrie and Orillia. It most notably holds the Boots and Hearts Music Festival in August each summer, and the Barrie Automotive Flea Market each June and September.

The Boots and Hearts Music Festival is a multi-day country music and camping festival produced by Republic Live Inc. and owned by Stan and Eva Dunford. The festival is held annually at the Burl's Creek Event Grounds in Oro-Medonte, Ontario, Canada. Since its inception in 2012, Boots and Hearts has grown to become Canada's largest country music festival and the second largest music festival in North America behind only the CMA Music Festival. Boots and Hearts was awarded the CCMA (Canadian Country Music Association) "Festival of the Year" Award in 2014, 2015, and 2016, as well as the Canadian Music Week "Festival of the Year" in 2015. In 2019 and 2020, they were nominated for "Festival of the Year" by the Academy of Country Music Awards. The 2020 and 2021 editions of the event were cancelled due to the global COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

Barrie Speedway was a 1/3-mile tri-oval racing track located in Oro-Medonte, Ontario, Canada, north of Barrie. It was a member of CASCAR Super Series between 1989 and 1995, the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series for the Ontario Provincial and National (Continental) championships between 2007 and 2014, and also hosted a NASCAR Canadian Tire Series 10 races between 2007 and 2014. The track was replaced by Sunset Speedway in Innisfil, south of Barrie. Past winners of the NCTS races: 2007 D. J. Kennington and D. J. The track underwent major upgrades in 2004 which included upgrades to seating, pits and a full resurfacing and partial reconfiguration of the racing surface into its short track tri-oval it had up to its demolition.

Hardwood Ski and Bike is located in Oro-Medonte Township in Ontario’s Lake Country region about one hour north of Toronto, Ontario. The facility is a family oriented cross country skiing, snowshoeing, mountain biking and outdoor recreation area.

The Oro Moraine is a glacial moraine in Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada. The moraine covers 141 square kilometres (54 sq mi) north of Barrie, Ontario. The moraine drains into Georgian Bay on Lake Huron, and the smaller Lake Simcoe. Water transporting layers within the moraine, composed of sand and gravel, are separated by relatively impervious aquitard layers composed of or silt or clay. Efforts are being made to preserve undeveloped land on the moraine, and to encourage land owners to leave their property as a legacy to the regional conservation authorities in their wills.

Oro-Medonte is a township in south-central Ontario, Canada, on the northwestern shores of Lake Simcoe in Simcoe County. The two townships of Oro and Medonte were originally incorporated on January 1, 1850. They were amalgamated, as well as Hawkstone Police Village (incorporated in 1922), on January 1, 1994, under a restructuring of Simcoe County. It is divided into lines based on the concession system implemented by the British colonial government in the mid-18th century. Currently there are 15 lines that are now streets and highway exits off Highway 11.

Friday Harbour is a 600-acre mixed-use development in Innisfil, Ontario, Canada, 70 km north of Toronto. Built by the Geranium Corporation, the development contains residential, commercial, and recreational spaces, including a marina and golf course. Situated on Lake Simcoe's Big Bay Point, the resort's focal point is a 1000 slip in-land marina, the largest of its kind in Canada. Once construction is complete there will be 2600 residential units, a 400-room hotel, and a theatre.Envisioned as a New Urbanist village, Friday Harbour was designed to be an alternative to the traditional residential offerings of Ontario's cottage country, which are typically single-family homes located on or near a body of water. In this design, the connection to the water and nature would be maintained, but the dependence on driving over walking for daily necessities would be eliminated, or greatly reduced. DPZ CoDesign, the designers of Seaside, Florida, a notable early example of a New Urbanist development in North America, were brought on to design Friday Harbour.The first residents took occupancy in 2017, along with the opening of the first restaurants and shops on the pedestrian promenade.

CJLF-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting a Contemporary Christian music format on 100.3 FM in Barrie, Ontario. Using the on-air brand name Life 100.3, the station was founded by Scott Jackson in August 1999 and is owned by Trust Communications Ministries, Inc, which is based in Barrie, Ontario. On August 27, 2006, CJLF-FM increased its power from 1.8 kW to 18.7 kW. The power was further increased to 40 kW in January 2007.

Kempenfelt Bay is a 14.5 km (9.0 mi) long bay that leads into the Canadian city of Barrie, Ontario. It is as deep as 41.5 m (136 ft) in places, and is connected to the larger Lake Simcoe. It is known for its ice fishing and legends of Kempenfelt Kelly, a Loch Ness monster style prehistoric creature. Kempenfelt Bay is home each year to Kempenfest, an outdoor arts and crafts festival.
